A VISIT TO HAUNTED ASHINGDON & CANEWDON

- Here is the start of a brand new series on ghost stories and their locations in my home county of Essex, England,
In the first part we explore Ashingdon and Canewdon which have their stories to share on ghostly legends followed by a visit to the inside of Canewdon Church which has it`s own ghosts to share.

This is a very interesting Video, I have lived in Canewdon all my life and still do. We love the village and the church is a very important part. There are still white witches in the village, there is a very pagan community here. Beautiful place to live and I am very proud to call myself a Canewdon resident
I went here late one night with three mates in the car with me , myself and a passenger in the back both said lights were on in the church , the other two disputed this and could see no lights , the two of us who saw the lights next saw two male persons exit the church through the present entrance area , one remained at the porch the other walked toward us , we were at this stage in the car with lights off and engine off , I would estimate the person walking toward was only about 20ft away and still the other two claimed that nobody was there , I described this person later on as a male of fairly stocky build wearing a white gown with a brown cross on the front , the other person described the same but said it was a red cross , this person was also carrying a lit lantern , I panicked for some reason and quickly drove off with the other two who could not see this asking whats wrong there was nobody there , I remember both myself and the friend who also saw this were both in a state of panic , I have to say though this is a very nice place and I have always found the locals friendly and happy to chat

Really loved this particular episode...wonderful tour of the details of the church and very respectfully done. Its possible to get a true feeling of actually being there and can related to the energies and senses being picked up.

"...Have no intentions of doing so..." I know exactly how you feel. I am lucky to walk from one place to the other.
I passed canewden church in the early 90s at halloween and there were lots of people heading towards the church but the army was guarding all entrances. It was told to me that if you opened the door to the crypt on that night the 4 horsemen of the apocalypse would ride out. Apparently 2 young men tried it, one dropped dead immediately and the other went mad and couldn't speak. I don't know if it's an urban myth but interesting that so many would pursue it.
Beautiful Holy place. What architecture! Remember this is Holy Consecrated ground and Angels are in abundance.
