Canewdon is a lovely and beautiful place I live very near it but yes after dark it can be a bit scary especially at midnight. I think you'll find that the tomb that has iron bars around it is the tomb of George Pickingill the most powerful witch in the country in the 1800s Pickingill is actually buried in Canewdon church Graveyard
Between the witches, ghosts and rat-men, Essex has a really dark folklore. In Prittlewell there's a church where they say black magic was going on. Because they found the grave of a monk with his head chopped off, and placed at his feet. And this is in part true, because the prior of Prittlewell at one point really was hacked to death by monks from Lewes. And if you think that's bad? There are churches in Essex where they used to hang the skins of dead Vikings. There's a LOT of really messed up stuff here.
We were there today and we were disturbed to see thd grave covered by the cage (as shown in your video) There was a hole leading under the concrete tomb, I had a closer look as assumed and animal had dug under? But looking at your videos it looked like a deliberate hole was left? It was built that way - Why would that be? Also who is buried there?
Glad to hear you found your visit interesting. I would imagine animals did dig the hole, and that there was an arch in the structure which was originally buried but then became exposed. Either that or someone curious/ a gravedigger 😧
That alter looking tomb you filmed is the Tomb of Robert Tabrum who Died in 1795 who was then subsequently interred in the tomb, BTW I Looked underneath and I can see 2 coffins and not a devil which would have ended me hehe🤣🤣🤣like you said but they were made out of lead which does not rust Thx for the info
Me and my girlfriend went there last night, hence why I am watching this. Really enjoyed it, thank you. New subscriber here 🙂
Thanks for subscribing!
I lived in canewdon as a child and go back occasionally to visit. By day picturesque, quaint and rural. After sunset, dark, lonely and isolated
Bit like london in 2021.

@@britbazza3568 the scariest thing in that village though is the spiders. Woah they're humongous.
