Setting myself a personal challenge, I drove up to Dunwich, the `Atlantis of England` to film and investigate in a day and evening two major historic locations of medieval sites.
Beautiful. My favorite so far, having only seen a handful of videos discovering you yesterday. Excellent soundtrack as well. Very common to hear voices in the sound of water or sea as water is a conduit for spirits. Love the various styles in the stonework of the friary. Thank you again for a wonderful visit.
The sound of the sea is very soothing, we as a family spent most weekends at Dunwich as well as Minsmere, loved the place, until the green wellie brigade began to take over, they came in their four by fours and never spent any money. The cliffs used to have bones protruding from the cemetary where the weather had battered the shore etc.
Your videos always seem to offer an art history lesson as an added feature. An interesting mix of Roman and Gothic arches. I enjoy that. You strike me as an educated man.
Southwold is a lovely place to visit, used to go there a lot when I lived in or revisited Norfolk. There's a quaint, little place by the beach called the 'Sailor's Reading Room' which is much more interesting than its name implies - but, not a place to take your noisy kids, because it 'is' essentially a reading room and you will disturb people who want to quietly read, soak up the atmosphere and look at all the nautical curios. Some unusual shops in town and there's also a famous ale distillery (is distillery the name I'm looking for?) I don't drink, but the food is really good quality. There's a strangely entertaining pier, with some funny animatronic things going on. Nice beach for the kiddies. So Southwold well worth visiting too if you plan to do some ghost-hunting there. I rather miss it to be honest.
Another great show and again many thanks for sharing this with us,i see a strange dark shape cover you at 1:24 and have no idea what it is?Love the solo man chanting at 18:33 and it amazes me that this voice was last singing may hundreds of years ago...brilliant!
Can't imagine how I missed this one, but it's the first time I'm seeing it. It looks very beautiful there. During your day shots I felt very drawn to that place. Maybe someday you could go back there again and see if anyone was more communicative.
Many thanks for this Chris, a lovely area I've visited a couple of times and been to the same sites (although in daylight). I know your film was a long time back, but just hope the sunstroke didn't last too long. Take care...
Wonderful film. I love to listen to it and watch of course. Your music is lovely chris. Thankyou. Just updating to say this is still my favourite for history and atmosphere. Sorry you got too much sun though and weren’t feeling too good. Thechanting music is ethereal and amazing 👍🙏
Thanks Chris , loved the history and location, very interesting indeed, shame we didn't see what you were looking for but was a pleasure to watch your movie.
Back in my beautiful country Philippines ❤️ we do have an Island Palawan ( Leper Colony) during that outbreak 💔lots of people where sent to live there and died💔🙏 it's still in existence and became a " Tourist Spot" and there is still some patient that lives there who are victims of these dreadful disease 💔
@Spookypalooza Thanks Kirsten. I`m 6`1" tall. Does that make a difference? lol. I agree, there were definitely voices in that breeze. Perhaps the lost souls from the old town and graveyards that lie 50` down in the sea. Appreciate you commenting:)
Chris, another great vid, as usual. The EVPs were pretty impressive, especially the chanting one. I have to say, I laughed at the sunstroke. Only a true Englishman could possibly get sunstroke from the English sun.
Yip. Put baby powder on sunburn. It immediately relieves the pain. But apart from that I was very impressed with the voices and chanting heard at the abbey. Your equipment captured it beautifully. Well done
@Milo9874 That`s strange, the location reminded me very much as a setting for an M.R James story:) Appreciate your comments Stuart, and yes, I will definitely wear a hat now in the sun!:)
I have been aware of spirit since about the age of six i have had lots of encounters regards spirits and ghosts, it can be scary not to be messed with but once you have these encounters it can be wonderful i have no doubt that we exist as spirits after this life. They can latch on to you so you have to be careful.
sounded like some kind of whistling to me, like the wind with the stones or something. you hear that a lot in ruins. especially near the shore where its windy.
That chanting was really audible without any enhancement, so was the voice saying "A-ha" or something. Not really EVP´s, but discarnate voices... Really good video, Chris! And you keep getting better.
I could hear changing loud and clear. ALSO you may want to check out when you go back and started walking with the camera It could be animals in the field but I did see a shadow some time after 17:00 Very cool Chris. I always learn something cool from your videos
I have a Hardback DORLING KINDERSLEY DK EYEWITNESS GUIDES Book of MEDIEVAL LIFE. Discover medieval Europe - from life in a country manor to the streets of a developing town.
I can hear a female voice at 24:56. It sounds like she is in the distance and says "we're here". It also sounds like a male whispers "we're happy" at 24:57. That whisper sounds close to you. Thank you for a beautiful and informative video!
Greyfriars A very nice EVP there...The chanting sounds like...... 'Revere !! Heaven be with you, to' :) Then later.....'Revere' again. You thought it said 'Ah Ha' !! 21.39, another very faint unknown EVP :)
Hello Chris have you ever visited the ancient church of Albury in surrey nr Guildford its a beautiful now redundant church circa saxon norman period...its very unspoilt and I visit it often, just wondered if you can find anything interesting there
Well done Chris! One of my favorites thanks to the historic and general info you provided. Thank you! You give an insight into England that is rarely seen. By the way, to understand scale, how tall are you? Sounds like you might have some EVP in the wind and sea sounds. Can't make them out due to the length of the video not enabling me to backup to hear short sections. LOL! You just said the same thing I just wrote. Great minds... :D Thank you again!
I remember seeing a movie at the local theater when I was a kid called The Dunwich Horror. I don't remember much about it now but I remember the name and that it was made in Britain.
Interesting EVPs there, especially the chant. HP Lovecraft created a fictional town in his writings called "Dunwich" so I wonder if he named it after this town? Get rest and get well.
I've always heard that name pronounced "done - witch" probably because of H.P. Lovecraft . Are there any paintings or drawings of the ruins from back when it was new?
@PJsBeautyShop I would love to be on TV then I could travel a whole lot more and have more enlarged investigations, but alas, it seems not to be for now! Thankyou very much for your very positive support! Greetings to you in the U.S of A:)
Had the buildings been covered - with still existing roofs and more clearly defined rooms any still in resident spirits might have been keener to hang around. Still, well done CHris for hanging around yourself , Hope you slept well.
I have found that if you look for ghosts or spirits, then I never see them where ever it may be. Only is it when I least expect it with my mind on something completly opposite or mundane in a place with no history that is known do I see, hear or feel them? Often I do not realised what I have experianced until some time later.
did anyone else see the shadow run the fence line up near the woods. watch 17:30 to 17:40, its to fast for a animal and then disappears. let me know if you see it
Hope that you've had some rest, & pumped some water into your system? Heat-Stroke isn't something to take lightly...not meaning to be rude Chris but perhaps a hat if you're going to be outside for any length of time might be the go?! * Just get better mate....they'll still be there waiting for you; cheers.
Thanks for those of you who have commented over the years. Deeply appreciated!

It`s a fascinating place to visit Sally with many legends. I love returning when I can :)
Luv the sound of the sea

My second favorite thing about your shows. The music! Love the music on this one! :)
Thanks Mindy :)

Beautiful film, very well presented, I love the music also.
Thanks a lot. Beautiful sight from a very old interesting place!!! Cheers from Chile, lovely vid. Reminds me so many places back in uk...Salut

Awesome , your video of Priory ruins is a wonderful history of Dunwich. Thank you !
Excellent video Chris- you have great style in directing..
Ive never been to the UK but watching your vids makes me want to come over to visit.
Thanks for another good upload :)
Next time you get sunstroke drink water, not coffee! Bet you had an awful headache.
at 17:36 way in the background you can see what looks like a person running from right to left and then just disappears
it goes to that tree then seems to stop and go behind it
i see that
you can see it @ 16:05 too but it's not a person
It's a black bird flying low across the field.
I saw that too...black shadow...
Very good video Chris (as always) and sorry to see you feeling under the weather. I imagine that was quite a long day for you mate.
Perfect music...
Hi everyone
another interesting video totally worth the watch and i hope you had a safe trip home...take care.
Thanks Chris , loved the history and location, very interesting indeed, shame we didn't see what you were looking for but was a pleasure to watch your movie.
well chris I did enjoy this and very interesting info from you as always thank you very much all the best from trev and Christine
oh god i heard the chanting!!!!!!!!!!! its a chant response to the mass. i recognize it.
Wonderful one. It's like going on a journey with you.
The smallish alcoves in the ruin would have each contained the stations of the cross.
Bro you're tellin' us you got heatstroke in the English sun?! Lol no way man! 😂
Nice video tho keep it up
we do get really hot summers sometimes
It looks lovely Chris.
@CatpurrRobertaBobbi Thanks for that Roberta:) I`m definitely wearing my trilby next time! lol
@nissenkarina Much better the following day! Thankyou for commenting:)
Great video Chris very informative and interesting!

I wish u all the best, stay safe, and god bless you. Much love from Canada
Leprosy? How did they cure it?
@Spookypalooza Thanks Kirsten. I`m 6`1" tall. Does that make a difference? lol.

Neat vid Chris. On the technical side: Are you using just the IR illuminator on your camera or do you have a booster of some sort?
if you look closely at 17 03 faintly in the back field it looks like something moving fast across the field.
+John Conduff I think that it was a deer, John from memory.
That chanting was really audible without any enhancement, so was the voice saying "A-ha" or something. Not really EVP´s, but discarnate voices...
Really good video, Chris! And you keep getting better.
Hi!! Why are you not on TV???? Your channel is great..I very much enjoy watching your videos. Big hello from the states :)
@Andersend Thanks for commenting:)

Interesting read.
Thank you.
@Nigelcf Thanks Nigel, pleased you enjoyed this:)
Daily cup of tea. very good but sorry for the sun sickness.
Have a look in the Flint Wall opposite the Pub for the Ghostly Face! I spent many a holiday in the area lots of lovely walks.
I can hear a female voice at 24:56. It sounds like she is in the distance and says "we're here". It also sounds like a male whispers "we're happy" at 24:57. That whisper sounds close to you. Thank you for a beautiful and informative video!

LOL! You just said the same thing I just wrote. Great minds... :D Thank you again!
@DAVERUKY The lights at the church didn`t really matter in the end Dave as it was in the shade where I went.
I remember seeing a movie at the local theater when I was a kid called The Dunwich Horror. I don't remember much about it now but I remember the name and that it was made in Britain.
I use a Hi8 DV camcorder Mark:) Better IR than the MiniDV:)
17.36 i see a definite shadow near the left fence front that seems to move and moves its hands........yikes
"The Dunwich Horror" by H. P. Lovecraft.
I do believe the Dunwich H P Lovecraft wrote about was a town called Dunwich in America.
@SweetHeid Thanks Heidi:) Glad you enjoyed this.
There used to be people's bones sticking out of the cliffs apparently when it was the turn of the church's graveyards to fall into the sea.
@ragged07 Thanks Dawn:) And yes, I saw that black thing moving across the grass too! Really weird.
At 25:00 in the middle of the screen, one of the stones actually looks like a face peering out.
nice video.
@anzac2404 Wayne - I`ve already decided to wear a hat in future! No more..... lol
I was okay by the following day, and back at editing:)
@magpie307 Appreciate that:) All I saw in the end was my eyes going around in circles from heat stroke:) But pleased you enjoyed the show!
@RiverAveGuy Thankyou my friend:)
@bubbafetsqwerty11 Thankyou my friend, if I was feeling better I`m sure I could have got much more there:)
that was a good investigation, pity the sun got to you!!! think you will return?
Interesting EVPs there, especially the chant. HP Lovecraft created a fictional town in his writings called "Dunwich" so I wonder if he named it after this town? Get rest and get well.
@NinjaCthulhu A lot of people have asked me. As far as I can see there is no connection other than the name. Thankyou, and I`m much better now:)

By the way, this is a great video.
Britain is chock a block with history. Every square inch is steeped in history.
@cooking23 I may return someday with some team members, but there are some really nice sites I`ve yet to visit:)
love your work chris.......next time don't stay out in the sun that long....
Had the buildings been covered - with still existing roofs and more clearly defined rooms any still in resident spirits might have been keener to hang around. Still, well done CHris for hanging around yourself , Hope you slept well.
Nice one chris
Awesome chippy by that carpark......my fav place in suffolk.....dunwich....not the chippy
what camera would you recommend to use at night?
@SpiralInvestigations Thanks Marq, it was a very long day indeed, but an enjoyable one mate:)
Yeah, a dark shadow. Animals usually lope when running, thats not. I wonder if Chris saw it on playback?
There is a shadow running in the background, around 17:35.
we're not as young as we use to be when it comes to the sun.....BTW I did hear the chant!!!
Water for sunstroke, not coffee :)

@sunnyd1271 Thankyou Deanne:)

That was a strange experience.
