Hi Cody, thanks for sharing great knowledge about BCI. Learned a lot about headbands from your contents. Few projects that you shared in this video beginning seems interesting, would it be possible to share the link for those? like augmented tree poping up and few other.

I’ve always been fascinated about EEG’s, but they are limited in the data they collect. If the device slips or readjusts while it’s on it can alter the data. Better luck is had with little to no hair and or applying lubricant so EEG can make good contact with scalp. Neuralink is going to be fixated in the skull and wires thinner than human hair with over a 1000 channels that will not just be able output but maybe one day effectively input data. EEG devices may be able to accomplish this, but we need a higher ban width to get effective results. It’s like comparing fiber optics to a spotty WiFi network. Yes neuralink is a more invasive method to scan brain patterns, but like Elon said EEG is like listening to a factory from the outside with a stethoscope and guessing what’s going on.

Very good point. It won't be EEG in its current stage. But there are other developments on the way that could enhance or replace EEG. And the noise filtering mechanisms are getting better all the time.

Said Elon? Why should we listen to Elon? He has no idea of the Brain. He has no idea what he's talking about. He is a serial liar that nobody should believe. He thinks this is some sort of science fiction. He has no role in Neuralkink other than nuisance and financing. Why should we listen to Elon, honestly?

So what he's missing is that direct invasive BCI is overtaken by external devices ? That would probably push back his hyped system a bit..

Hi Cody, Thanks for the review/overview...To your knowledge, in all this area and technologies, what are the efforts and already succesful attemp may be to induce non-ordinary states of consciousness like the ones which are general induce by psychedelics/pharmacological means....

I have heard of some ultrasound methods to stimulate areas of the brain that create those experiences. They were working on doing that with MRI scans to guide them at the Institute of Advanced Consciousness Studies in Santa Monica when I visited. I've been meaning to go back and make an episode on that specifically. Thanks for the question!

Dr Cody what are your thoughts on V2K or Voice to Skull Neuroweapon Technology? Also known as the Frey Effect from 1961, the Microwave Auditory Effect, Synthetic Telepathy, Voice of God Weapon? I'm 4 and half years into V2K torture here just north of Atlanta Ga... I have a lot to say...

I bought the mendi upon your recommendation over the muse. Had it for a few days now. Has no warranty according to the website. Doesn't give any sort of actuate feedback. How can you recommend a product like this? I'm not mad just disappointed. I'm very confused by this.

EEG’s flat out can’t get accurate enough data which has always been the issue with them. As Elon stated it’s like listening through a wall of a factory with a stethoscope, and guessing what going on. Neuralink is necessary to get high rez data while also having the ability to input data. Maybe one day EEG will be able to accomplish this.

Yeah, wearables are the feasible approach to read brain signals, but that's not gonna get us far enough, it would get stuck in the early stages and be some geeky gadget really fast that only a few people use for a short period of time.
This is why neuralink could be the game changing piece of tech that revolutionizes the world: You can't tell someones wearing it. You have a fast and accuarate response from your brain. It's scalable, bandwidth would get better and better overtime. The ability to input signals as you mentioned, this alone is millions of times better than not having, would be like discovering fire for the first time or creating the internet. Using some headband feels like a school project, some unfinished work. Usable in certains scenarios but not fullfilling anything

There are other factors at play. Consider Mary Lou Jepsen's Openwater project that uses a combination of fNIRS and Ultrasound to get higher resolution brain bloodflow readings and could use ultrasound pulses to interact with the brain itself. We can't count wearables out.

We’re going about this the wrong way. Invasive is not the way forward. It’s about learning to hone the mind and body through various ancient breathing techniques/meditation. Progressively learning how to get into flow states and more, at will. That takes hard work but it’s the natural approach, by design. Invasive is cutting corners and synergieses the unharmonious coupling of technology with human bioenergetic body.
I’m working on a prototype social platform, non-invasive to demonstrate this. DM if interested in collaborating 🧐🧘🏾‍♂️🧘‍♂️🧘🏾‍♀️🧘🏻‍♀️

Direct communication with the brain is pretty cool, but the brain restructures overtime, so how does neural link plan to account for that? Will the neural link communicate to halt restructuring in certain areas? What consequences will emerge as a result from that? Neural link are awesome, I really appreciate what their doing, and I'll probably end up getting one in about 30 years if I don't tragically die before then, but I hope they figure everything out.
Cheers Elon for carving out an exciting future

There are some big loopholes in medical devices approval. There was an excellent documentary done on this topic a few years ago and talks about how easily a device can get approved. The first story in the doc is about a successful surgeon who found that the metal in some hip replacements nearly killed him. It was marketed to him because he was very athletic. Several surgeons in the film talk about how much pressure there is to use the surgical robot arms, despite being given almost no training. (They practice on a fruit basket.) There are some pretty horrible outcomes for patients. The documentary won the George Polk award for medical reporting. Wikipedia: The film quickly generated discussion in the medical industry. The website Medical Device and Diagnostic Industry noted that The Bleeding Edge "has rattled the medical device industry and left countless viewers speechless",[17] ...Stat News quoted a neurosurgeon who stated that the film made him "wonder what the misuse of medical technology means for patients and for doctors" and led him to "believe we need a change of culture to avoid overuse of procedures or misuse of drugs and devices."[19] The Mike on Medtech podcast called the film a "mandatory watch for everybody working in the medical device industry",[20] and Healthcare Analytics News noted that it "inspired anger among those inside and outside healthcare, prompting calls for change."[21]

For people currently claiming to be attacked with this AI Neiral Telepathy Weapon the development of thsi technology might prove their claims. All they have to do is to wear the telepathic mind reading to text device, in a hospital/scientific setting and the telepathic abuse they say they are experiencing should print up as text. This will enable psychologists to differentiate between Schizophrenics and genuine victims of this weapon.

Chip implant in the brain the way Musk describes it will never happen. Brain interfaces already exist and there are companies on the market making money and providing working solutions. Neuralink is a stupid toy company that will be bankrupt in a not-so-distant future. There is no case for what they are trying to do. Pleasing the ego of a man-child who thinks all this is science fiction is not a viable business model. There is no path to profitability for Neuralink.
