I still think is a bit unfair to put Charizard at Number 1 when it’s literally the most gimmick reliant starter in the series. Like the fact it NEEDS a gimmick to be good is not a good trait for a starter. Especially when that gimmick is banned for some reason which leaves Charizard with hardly any good viability to pick between other Fire Starters.
Mind you, it can deal massive damage if paired with Torkoal and is wearing boots. Solar Power + Life Orb in sun, plus its solid enough speed and power means that it can really dish out the pain. Though in singles, it's going to struggle. I got nothing for that. Not the best starter without a gimmick, but certainly not bad.
@@marianheitmann1337 agreed incinroar number 1 in doubles and blazeken in single(even include mega) lizardon is weakest in both formats due to obvious weakness.
Love the recognition of Incineroar! It has won every world championship it has been legal for while it has intimidate. Even got up to an 80% usage rate at one point in USUM lol
For any singles players who don’t understand why Incineroar is so busted in doubles: You choose only four of your six possible Pokémon for a battle. Then, Intimidate affects both opposing Pokémon. The move Fake Out is one of the top five best moves in doubles, because it prevents one of the opposing Pokémon from leveraging whatever synergy it was intended to leverage. Additionally, being immune to Prankster means it’s unlikely to get Thunder Waved, Taunted, etc. THEN, it has Parting Shot, which lowers the opposing Pokémon’s offensive stats again AND returns it to the Pokeball… so you can Intimidate and Fake Out AGAIN. And lastly, it can use basically any non- Choice item it wants. You could even run Assault Vest by replacing Parting Shot with U-Turn and giving it some additional longevity by giving it either Drain Punch or Leech Life.
I love the fire starters and usually go that way depending on the starters involved. I don't think gigantamax or mega evolutions should be included as to how strong or weak a fire starter is because not all fire starters are able to gigantamax or mega evolve. I think it gives these other starters an unfair advantage when ranking them.
I’m can see an argument be made for that, but at the same time Mega and Gigantamax is part of what makes those certain pokemon as good as they are. To me it’s like saying Incinaroar is good, but it’s not allowed to use intimidate since none of the other starters get it. Like, that’s not the starter’s fault it has something that gives it an advantage over others. Like Charizard with its gimmicks, and blaziken with its mega, Skeledurge with its Tera, Cinderace with its Gigantamax, and even Incinaroar with its z move.
I get what you're saying but is a good gimmick form any more of an "unfair advantage" than simply having better stats or a better movepool? Really I think the only way to do this is to consider everything _within a particular context_ so are we considering just a casual story playthrough? Singles or Doubles? vs. just its generation or all future generations?

About the base charizard and typhlosion comparison, charizard has a better movepool for coverage, swords dance and belly drum to boost attack, and an additional type for stab. I was playing regulation d on s/v and got to masterball rank with a charizard with acrobatics, flame charge, thunder punch, and belly drum. I think charizard without gimmicks is at least top 3 since you can run him as either a physical attacker or special attacker. As much as I don’t care for Cinderace, I can’t deny its impact in the meta. It got the single most damaging signature move in the game and another where it turns hazards against the opponent.
As much as I love Delphox, I understand why you ranked her where you did. Fire/Psychic is a really nasty type combo, but Delphox has a couple of issues that really hamper it. The biggest one is arguably its hidden ability, Magician. I mean, it fits thematically for what GameFreak was going for with Delphox, but it could’ve been a lot better. Magic Guard, Magic Bounce or even Fur Coat to help with its lack of physical bulk would’ve probably been better.
We got a psychic fire starter and no reference to Stephen King? We got no prodigy background music? Would have loved these. Charizard may not be the best at anything, but has the tools to do a little bit of everything. Even gamefreak felt like they owed this to charizard.

I feel Charizard suffers from how tiering works. With it being usage based, the common opinion is that Charizard has to be garbage since it's in PU where it's actually restricted. Even in the powercrept Gen 9 OU tier, Charizard can burn massive holes in teams and melt through stall rather easily with the power of Sun (valued thanks to protosynthesis) boosted, Choice Specs, Solar Powered Weather Balls, Overheats, and Fire Blasts. an unprepared opponent will lose up to 3 if not 4 of their pokemon almost immediately, with resists struggling to switch as they often cannot outspeed afterwards. Toxapex and Gliscor (prior to ban) try to switch in but cant. Only Dragonite and Blissey get decent switches, even Dragapult gets one shot from full a decent bit of the time.
The thumbnail instills salt and terror to VGC/Doubles players because they've been seeing it in pretty much every team and watching it win a disgusting amount of times, now I hope Blaziken gets compatibility with Drain Punch & Roost by it's Indigo Disk release.
Yea you better not slander Alcremie again lol only kidding. But it is my second favorite fairy type, funny enough, behind my number one favorite Milcery
It's unfair to add gimmicks like Gigantamax and Mega Evolution in the ranking against those that don't. It should be based on all their base forms and other gimmicks should've been in another ranking. Disappointed. Be better.
I’m a HUGE incineroar fan. Easily my new favorite Fire type. And my favorite typing for that said starter. Fire and Dark Type, it’s so much better and so much fun.
Although Grass is my favorite type, I can't deny that most Fire starters have at least some viability in competitive. If only GF tried to balance every trio so none of them would feel left out.
Funny thing is Venusaur was literally designed to solo gen 1. Then every generation afterwards grass got super nerfed. As a Charizard fan in the late 90s I can say Kanto was a wall for Charizard. But if you put him in gen 2 it would of been a different story for him.
Don't get me wrong Charizard is a phenomenal pokemon but it still surprises me that it's number one in fire starters. I thought cinderace or skeledirge would of been better
@@TheDragonstorm1993YT I know. Lol It's just my opinion. With Typhlosion being my favorite Pokemon it just hurts to see. Admittedly, I know Typhlosion could use a few minor buffs, especially to make it stand out from Charizard. A slight Stat change for starters. Unfortunately Typhlosion is a bit of a 1 trick phony. Scarf Eruption with Flash Fire. My 1st time doing Draft League, I didn't draft Typhlosion, and it was for this very reason. People could likely predict your Typhlosion set. But I'll always stand by Typhlosion as my favorite Pokemon!! :]
@@TheDragonstorm1993YT Honestly, A Speed of 105 would even be great to set it apart. It does get Solorbeam, which I think is fair, given how Grass beats everything that beats Fire. Giving just a few Fire types, Giga Drain or Energy Ball makes sense to me! I think a Special Electric move like Parabolic Charge, a Water move in Scald, and a Special Ground attack in Earth Power would be great tbh. Also, we need a new set up move for Fire types. After all, we have those moves for Fighting and Psychic types, even the Bug type has 1... for the Fire Type: Flare Up- This move boosts the users Special Attack and Speed by 1 stage each. But using Fire Type attacks causes the user to receive 10% of their max HP (Like the Life Orb) in recoil per Fire Attack.
Ok, I have three questions. 1.Why is Charizard 1st? popularity maybe but Charizard is usually bad without mega evolve or dynamax, if I have to chose based on their performance over the time I would put Blaziken. 2.If Incineroar is so good, why is NU and RU according to Smogon? 3.Where is Infernape?
Great ranking Mystic!!! Fire types are very cool (ironically 😅) Ash’s Infermape’s story is just so beautiful. How as a Chimchar was once trained by Paul. But Paul’s opinion was purely on power on its own and wanting to push Chimchar to the limit just to use the OP (out of control) blaze ability. But all that time Paul wasn’t able to bring out the full potential of Chimchar’s blaze (referring to the flashback from Diamond and Pearl Episode 51: Glory Blaze). But once Paul released it after he has given up because Chimchar’s traumatized past was too painful for him to not be able to beat another Zangoose. After that moment, Ash caught Chimchar and since then Ash was motivating Chimchar, reassuring Chimchar’s strength without the use of Blaze. While Chimchar’s Blaze was out of control (referring to Diamond and Pearl Episode 81: Chim-charred as a Chimchar and Diamond and Pearl Episode 163: Fighting Ire with Fire) overtime with Ash’s encouragement and training Chimchar as a Infernmape could master Blaze and defeat Paul (referring to Diamond and Pearl Episode 179: The Eighth Wonder of the Sinnoh World and Diamond and Pearl Episode 188: Battling a. Thaw in Relations). Ash’s Infermape’s arc just shows the depths of emotion, personality, insecurities that is in all Pokemon.
He’s literally a top 2 most popular pokemon😂😂😂 Number 1 in some surveys. So fans love charizard, game freak loves fans, so game freak responds to fans with charizard. It’s really not quantum mechanics like u people try to make it seem
Not sure which league you're referring to, but there's two: VGC (official) and Smogon (Unofficial). VGC tournaments are sanctioned by Nintendo and use the double battle format. Typically, a Pokémon used by the top 16 players, appearing in multiple teams, is a Pokémon with high viability (see the Incineroar entry). Smogon is unofficial, community-driven and singles only. The tiers are based on how often a Pokémon is used and it's overall competitive viability. A tier like OU (overused) feature Pokémon that have an excellent combination of stats, attacks, etc while still maintaining a level of fairness. On the other hand, a tier like NU (never used) feature Pokémon that have a poor combination of stats, attacks, etc or were power crept by newer Pokémon. Hope this answers your question.
Im sorry but emboar is LEAGUES above typhlosion, good secondary typing, better movepool, hits harder, more bulk, has reliable set up (bulk up), i could go on. Not saying typhlosion wont be a great tera-abuser though
I use wolfey logic here. Stealth rocks is almost always going to be on a competitive team which would limit the crap out of a charizard. There's absolutely no way this pokemon would ever be in OU or higher without a direct gimmick. It would 100% be the weakest fire starter in the game. Embarrassing however would move up up because of 1 move called body press
personally, i get being unbiased but when blazikens mega and speed boost ability GETS IT BANNED, blaziken really shouldve been number 1. really i wouldve wondered how different the list would been if it was the difference between gen 3 RSE blaziken with ORAS blaziken. gen 2 typhlosion with hisuian typhlosion and HGSS typholsion. gen 4 infernape with BDSP infernape and legends arceus infernape. gen 1 charizard with XY charizard and lets go charizard and SWSH charizard. i can get and understand charizard with its mega and its gigantamax but again, blazikens mega and ability got it BANNED... i would say infernape or skeledirge or blaziken should be number 1 if we are only considering how good it was in the gen it was introduced in.

I'd like to see a video about the best tera types for charizard or best moveset for charizard after the indigo disk comes out on decemeber 14th
The thumbnail instills salt and terror to VGC/Doubles players because they've been seeing it in pretty much every team and watching it win a disgusting amount of times, now I hope Blaziken gets compatibility with Drain Punch & Roost by it's Indigo Disk release.
Awesome
I’m ngl I never knew parting shot was a sound move
Yea you better not slander Alcremie again lol only kidding. But it is my second favorite fairy type, funny enough, behind my number one favorite Milcery
It's unfair to add gimmicks like Gigantamax and Mega Evolution in the ranking against those that don't. It should be based on all their base forms and other gimmicks should've been in another ranking. Disappointed. Be better.
I’m a HUGE incineroar fan. Easily my new favorite Fire type. And my favorite typing for that said starter. Fire and Dark Type, it’s so much better and so much fun.
It hurts being a Typhlosion stand.
Megas or dyna isn't a thing anymore so Charizard on 1 is simple lie
Tbh I think Cinderace deserves the Number 1 spot.
Do water next
Don’t ever insult incineroar by calling it Garfield
Whatever, Typhlosion will always be my favorite fire starter :P
Typhlosion, next to worst??? Bro committed war crimes uploading this...
It's mostly because of it's movepool and lack of a second stab which Hisuian Typhlosion somewhat fixes
@@thefirespecialist9007 i wish it was much faster and had access to moves like Ancient power, Scorching sand, Energy ball etc
3.Where is Infernape?
infernape was ranked 5th which is kinda sad cause its my favorite pokemon
Charizard is best.
Great ranking Mystic!!!
Fire types are very cool (ironically 😅)
Ash’s Infermape’s story is just so beautiful.
We all get used to the fact that Game Freak loves Charizard.
He’s literally a top 2 most popular pokemon😂😂😂 Number 1 in some surveys. So fans love charizard, game freak loves fans, so game freak responds to fans with charizard. It’s really not quantum mechanics like u people try to make it seem
I'm still extremely confused in the Pokemon League tier abbreviations every time Mystic brings them up in these videos.
It does@@omegaXjammur ty
i wish delphox had magic guard instead of magician, it would be much more useful
Nah bro. Infernape is #1. Charizard should be way way way down there.
Worst take ever
Great video but ware is infernape?
Im sorry but emboar is LEAGUES above typhlosion, good secondary typing, better movepool, hits harder, more bulk, has reliable set up (bulk up), i could go on. Not saying typhlosion wont be a great tera-abuser though
Nah Infernape and Skeledirge got done dirty!
I don't think Blaziken will be that good in Gen 9. Skeledirge and Dondozo will utterly destroy it.
I'm sad that Emboar is the weakest fire starter
well it was even banned from NU from how strong it was
Base zard typhlosion and delphox were stuck there
@@laxusstrauss5945 the truth. Emboar always was ru. Emboar used as scarfed wallbreaker and sometime will o wisp + substitute.
Who would be the strongest without the gimmicks?
Hey Mystic I know you're a busy man, but are we going to get a best team for US/UM No restrictions?
Am I crazy, or Infernape wasn't listed?
Infernape was in the lower middle.
Charizard gets eviscerated by stealth rocks... I smell some bias there champ.
For me personally the best firestarter is still the prodigys
Lets go
I think that Charizard is the strongest Fire starter while Emboar is the weakest.
The top fire 🔥 Pokémon starter final evolution got be charizard typhlosion blaziken infernape Emboar incineroar
Incineroar should be number 1 and its not even close.
Wow Charizard is first who could have guessed , for read tho Charizard is the best fire starter
I’m sick of the Emboar slander 😡
How is Incin fakeout initimidate vgc multiple time winner strong stab and bulk not 1? Or is this storymode
Charizard is still the very best of the fire starters...
Gotta love charizard right?
can't wait for my king Incineroar to comeback
Incineroar will forever be my nr1 favorite mon
Starting off at number
20.Emboar
0:54 I used it
personally, i get being unbiased but when blazikens mega and speed boost ability GETS IT BANNED, blaziken really shouldve been number 1.
really i wouldve wondered how different the list would been if it was the difference between gen 3 RSE blaziken with ORAS blaziken. gen 2 typhlosion with hisuian typhlosion and HGSS typholsion. gen 4 infernape with BDSP infernape and legends arceus infernape. gen 1 charizard with XY charizard and lets go charizard and SWSH charizard.
i can get and understand charizard with its mega and its gigantamax but again, blazikens mega and ability got it BANNED...
i would say infernape or skeledirge or blaziken should be number 1 if we are only considering how good it was in the gen it was introduced in.
Le base Charizard in gen 3 best fire Pokemon
