What I love about your videos is that it has a little of everything! Great photography of outstanding nature, education whether equipment or environment and we get watch your experiences living and playing in the great outdoors! There is an honesty about your vid’s. What you eat and how you prepare it, surviving bugs, sitting around in your skivvies sharing stories of your experiences. Very, entertaining. We look forward to each new vid. Thank you!
Well done, fun to see your kit. Love that tether idea for the GoPro, great peace of mind. My last SLR was the 50D and your pics here made me miss it. I'd be terrified to bring that L-series lens though lol
Alex, with all the trips do you or your companions carry a personal locator, if not you should probably consider one. Stay safe and healthy looking forward to more vids
Awesome kit Alex! I currently use a Canon T3i and it has survived quite a lot of wet weather and bumps over the years lol! They are durable cameras for sure! I've had it ten years now, so I am hoping to upgrade it soon.
That's a cool camera setup you have there now and the only one that you should check out is the new vr360 camera cause we can literally see three sixty around you there have a great day now
Wow Alex, not only are you a great athlete, you are a talented videographer. I think it would be difficult to run whitewater and film it. I'm impressed. Love watching your videos. Hope your lockdown lifts soon.
Thanks Alex, very good info and tips. I would be interested in the trip-pods and gopro mounts you use. I am also interested in your editing process - thanks again.
Weirdest thing ever...I was just thinking today "I should message the Northern Scavenger guys to ask them about camera gear and batteries..." And then here you are, answering my questions! I'm going for a 2 week backpacking trip and I won't have access to electricity that whole time so I'm still figuring out how many batteries I will need and how to recharge them. I'll have to have a look at that solar panel set-up. I won't be carrying as much equipment as you Alex, but I'll need to recharge what I do have! 👍
I swear by pelican cases, I use two, one for the drone and one for the camera gear. Pelicans cases are very reliably watertight and most importantly they allow very quick access to the camera. If you have to roll or zip up stuff it takes time and shots are missed because of the added hassle. A find a polarizing filter almost a necessity when around water. I always through some silicon desiccant backs in with the electronics especially on long trips.
Yeah, all that stuff may be fine, but what good did it do you in polar bear country? EH? Lol. I'm jealous of your organizational skills. TY for sharing, very informative!
I've been waiting on this vid to come out! I've always been curious what y'alls setup was behind the scenes. Really cool to see all the gear you use for these big trips. Which Patagonia bag is that? I'm going to buy one ASAP, looks like it might be the Black Hole Cube? 3L or 6L? Seems like an ideal size for batteries and camera accessories, not sure how I haven't thought to get something like that!
Thanks for intressting videos! The 80D is really bomb proof! I swaped from Canon 80D to Sony A7iii and thats a better camera BUT you can't kill a bear with it... ;-) I still have my 80D and use it for time laps. You can leave it outdoor and you don't need to be worried. Have you tried different microphones? I have problems with my Rode micro because if it's hard wind the sound will be terrible and useless. / Matti in Northern Sweden
Alex, Your output is superb. I assume your primary final target is UA-cam (which seems to down convert when I upload higher resolution video and photos). But . . . What resolutions do you shoot at? And what is your average yield of photos and footage? 25%? Maybe better since one can voiceover good video. Also interested in what you use for post processing.
I want to know what cook pot you guys use for use on the fire. All the cook pots I have seen have some plastic layer to it, which obviously would melt due the fire. If you could hit me back regarding that would be fantastic! Thank you!
I have the gropro 8 as well, my main camera is the Canon M50 and am thinking of getting another lense for it, not sure what the best lenses I should be looking at.
Haha the grand question...what ever is working for the arms. Usually like a brief case and exchange arms. Sometimes if just the barrel or a bag in your back would throw it on top. Have tried strapping it to things but its a bit heavy to do that successfully.
The “the neighbor can see you” scene at very beginning is great. Is this a subtweet of sorts?
Haha no the neighbors are great here! Just having some fun 🤣
That's a huge amount of effort you guys put into planning and producing your films! Thanks!

Ukraine just purchased 2300 Mavic 3's. Love your adventure videos!

This is a great video! So much great information. Discovered Northern Scavenger one week ago and I am so very impressed with your content.
Thank you
I recently went from a dslr to mirrorless and I'll never go back. Try the canon r6. You won't be disappointed. Also you can use your ef lenses.
Very informative. Always wondered how you did all that stuff. Thanks Alex

Crazy how far you guys have come !
Definitely a well thought out kit you have there. It truly is amazing how much the drone adds to the quality of the video.

I wondered how much stuff was involved with a video . You guys do a great job...

Thanks for the info! I'm going to do my first recording of a trip this weekend. We'll try a Sony FDR x3000 sports cam and a couple different mounts.

Canon is also known for their superior color science.
Hoping to hone in on the kit, trying not to jump on a drone though!

Great video Alex. What software do you use to do your editing?

Can you use a QXD card or the new CF Express quicker transfer rates and they are more robust and they are made for video.

What's your portage set up with the pelican case?

@@NorthernScavenger it's the ultimate struggle figuring out a good way to carry the pelican. Great video btw!
any new content comming soon?
I briefly priced this kit out and I think $7000 CAD would be a close estimate. Has anyone else priced these items out?
Potential early opening in the works apparently. You'll be out of the back yard in no time.
Haha going stir crazy!
I watched. Serious Alex was wrong!!!
