    take that kn filter and get rid of it. Seen dirt and sand in the plumbing of throttle body. They allow fine particles in the engine.

      I knew a guy that had a spectrometer and went over each cylinder before and after the K&N, he noticed a .02 micron accumulation of particles in the engine and said that only the absolute best of UA-cam mechanics would find it. He wasn’t as concerned, but he only went to an online school to take courses in terrorist negotiations for people that do them in less than stressful circumstances, so not sure how much I trust his analysis?

    Great vid! ...... '17 5.0 Super Crew here.
    I also went through all the fluids, (front / rear diff, trans, t-case, brake fluid, coolant to yellow from orange, and fluid film the frame in November each year due to living in New England... I did all of this to start with a fresh maintenance base point when i picked up my truck used with 50k. Maybe you hit this already, but I wanted to mention to not forget about bleeding the brakes with fresh fluid as it is such an easy maintenance item.
    Interesting profession you have there. I bet you have tons of stories.
    Lastly, In my opinion, some of the best F150 models are the 5.0's from '15 to '17 I Love these years. Stay safe....

    Nice video, I have a 2015 F150 4x4 Lariat with the 5.0 coyote motor. I have 142,000 miles on it now and have had no issues. I did the transmission flush, rear differential, and transfer case fluid change around 120,000. I do my oil change and tire rotation every 5,000 and just changed my plugs yesterday. The way to keep them going is to keep up on the maintenance. I hope I can keep this truck running for a long time as its still in really nice shape.

    I had a 2015 F150 that I put 93,000 miles on. Other than a back window that let water pour through into the cab, it was a much better truck than the 2019 F-150 or the 2022 F-150 that I've owned since. It seems with each iteration Ford works to take cost out but it comes out at the expense of taking quality out as well.

    Nice truck and great attention to detail with your maintenance. I've been buying Ford trucks for 45 years for our business and for personal use and I've always had good luck. Gosh I wish we didn't get snow up here and the resulting salt on the roads......... plays havoc with the frame and workings. I have a 2017 XLT 5.0 4x4 that was purchased new at local dealer. Just turned over 99k on it. No issues yet. Dealer serviced and I have hit the transmission flush, new belts and basic stuff like that. I seem to be hard on my rotors as I’ve already replaced them due to warping . Could be my driving habits or cheap made parts from dealer so I’m not going to fault the truck for that. I’m happy with it so far.

      @@Lufty25 No…I got all my parts from the dealership. But just recently, my last service, I had to have the rear rotors turned because they were warped and cause the pedal to bounce against my foot while stopping. That got rid of 90% of it, but the next service coming up I’ll have to get the front one done….again. Only other issue I had was the mixing valve for the heater temperature went bad but I got it replaced under the extended warranty. Got that repaired in August.

The top into the A arm will take a little work and once going up with a floor jack with seat into place. Just plan a day and take your time its not a tough job, just some patients and don't get hurt with the spring.

    would like info on that factory wire and how you installed the amp and sub. truck for sure need some better sound.

    • @DownShifting76
      @DownShifting76  Рік тому +1

      You will need to remove the black plastic trim on the drivers side floor front and rear doors.
      Per what I used.
      Use the BROWN and RED STRIE wire on the existing harness / connector (Hidden beind the drivers side passenger area door 3rd pillar) (This is normally used for OEM Sony Power AMPS) for both the SPAND sub and AMP. This makes for a much more simple and clean install. No going straight to the battery for 12V and it powers up great. There is no need to penetrate the firewall or wire under the hood.
      Route both of the 12V power wires to both Amps back to the 3rd pillar. This will allow the use of the OEM connector (Brown/Red wire) for the Amps. This will provide more than enough power for the Kicker audio system.
      Hope this helps!

    • @DownShifting76
      @DownShifting76  Рік тому +1

      @shelton wade if I am stuck buying gas usually 87 since the ECM will keep the timing and knock safe and 1 full tank of 93 per oil change.
      Outside of that, I try to keep E85 in the tank as much as possible since it is high in octane for timing advance and burns much cooler than gas.

      IMO all vehicles can have strong and weak / failure points but designs have come a very long way in a relatively short time.
      As long as the owner cares, is willing to pay attention, and puts out some effort basically any new vehicle sold can have a long and useful lifecycle.
      I have personally owned a few GM products and a few I really miss and a couple not so much.
      Again just my opinion.

    • @DownShifting76
      @DownShifting76  Рік тому +2

      Hey Justin thank you for watching!
      I have read various reports on the VCT issues. For servicing, I have justified in my mind anyway spending the extra cash on Red Line oil and K&N filters at every oil change since I know the Ford recommendations are also based on the cost of ownership and environmental sales marketing. Hopefully, the better oils and filters will pay for themselves in the long term.
      The Omega tunes are extremely impressive considering such a simple install! My son will soon be 16 and will most likely be driving the truck some so the plan, for now, is to keep focused on the maintenance and longevity and get as much value per dollar as we can since we have college expenses ahead.
      Thanks again, we really appreciate you watching and commenting!
