I just wish they seperate the scenes or make it like a last minute realization instead of mixing two scenes, mixing the illusion makes people confuse. And the water burial is iconic to be skipped

The OG is still better than Rebirth in Rebirth it was ambiguous they still gave you the benefit of the doubt of her being dead or alive removing the feeling grief and loss.

Cloud is the only one can see aerith Due to mako poisoning he experience before, It means either its aerith manifesting herself using life stream, Or its jenova assuming aerith form to manipulate cloud. Who knows maybe shes not dead after all.

He was already psycho in the original game.
OG is just perfect, with the music and the melancholy of the scene, not being cut by the characters banter, it hits different. In this new version feels like they are puting more emphasis in Cloud's broken mind; and not only that, he can be totally aware of her demise, after all he tells Barret the he "can handle it", that an Red sencing her presence could mean that she's a ghost.
That's quite an interesting interpretation. I wouldn't be surprised if there's clash of time being involved. Even in the first game there's hint someone or something tried to change the storyline and there's also the ones that protected the original story. If looked from different perspective this alterations would have an interesting outcome.
The original scene was better. The new one is just confusing and convoluted.

@@jeremybstudentpilot5315 They were never going to. An experience like the OG FFVII cannot be reproduced, that's why they are playing their cards differently this time. Will It pay off? We will have to wait for the third one, only an complete view of the full picture can offer a real answer.
You would be surprised. If they did it right, her death could have actually felt more impactful than the og.
@@christianlopez707I don't think so, we the OG fans we already knew what's gonna happen since 27 years ago; to be honest, I expected A death, but of another character (all my "numbers" were on Tifa and/or Cloud), but the only thing I know is that Aerith has to die in some point, it's one of the main "motors" for tje plot to keep going.
@samuraiedge2619 Many fans played Crisis Core knowing what happened to Zack, and they were still sad when it happened. Heck, it was sadder than the og. Execution is better than surprised factor.
They didn't even show her dying in the Remake. It got me all confused. Is Aerith alive or not? 😂
It's explained in-depth in the actual game (which you clearly haven't played from start to finish lol). Watching an ending without the _context_ given by the entire story which predates it will inevitably leave you confused for very obvious reasons.

Rebirth version is like a nervous person trying to give an important speech to a lot of people and then breaking down into spitting only nonsense.
I swear, this is basically like the secret ending to the Dead Space Remake.
the thing that made me cry more in the og is cloud suffering cloud makes it a lot sadder
the new one i feel is what square enix is doing now. Making everything edgy, mysterious, trippy and kinda like kingdom heartish. Where it works for kingdom hearts it doesnt for other games. Im glad i didnt waste my cash on this. Ill just play the original. Cloud sounds like a legit schizo straight up when in the original it was more hidden.
The scene where Aerith wakes up is the alternate timeline where everyone else is dead none of the others where there look at glowing rainbow around them there are two scenes that play at the sametime her getting stabbed and cloud stoping sephiroths sword from stabbing her.
They just made it bloated and convoluted for the sake of it.

Is the point of this to make the player feel like they are also losing their grasp on reality just like Cloud is? A bold choice if this was intentional.
I must admit that until the end I somewhat accepted the stuff they added.. but this scene, holy crap.. as many have already pointed out, it's confusing and it lacks of all the emotion the OG transmits. And Cloud reaction is so unnatural, it seems like he doesn't feel anything. Apart from the tears, after the death he is calm, maybe because he can see her? I don't know, but even if that's reason something seems off, maybe because of all the battles between the scenes that dilute the feeling of loss and mourn for Aerith. Another explanation that came to my mind is that Cloud is not 100 % aware of what happened yet because of Sephiroth's influence in his mind.
In any case, I'm really sad that they decided to skip the water burial scene and the famous Cloud's speech: "Shut up. The cycle of nature and your stupid plan don't mean a thing. Aerith is gone. Aerith will no longer talk, no longer laugh, cry...... or get angry......What about us...... what are WE supposed to do? What about my pain? My fingers are tingling. My mouth is dry. My eyes are burning!"

If you’ve never played the original FF7 then you’re best not to play ‘Remake’ as it’s secretly a sequel (as in they deceived everyone by marketing it as a remake of the original game) and will proceed to spoil every major scene in the original FF7

Frankly, the death of the squirrel from Baldurs Gate's dark urge run made me much more sad than this stuff, which left me totally indifferent.
in the original it was really beautiful (leaving aside some bullshit like the Seplhiroth without the gloves or the floor that changes) in its being fast, brutal and above all true, the original dialogue between Cloud and Sephiroth is wonderful and obviously in the remake it didn't have to be there put the multiverse/timeline bullshit on

Ff7 remake is the yappers version
Even after watching it several times, I think the rebirth version is much better. Rather, the original is so concise that it feels like it's just passing by, but Rebirth at least explained it in detail.
Even from what I see, most people who say the original is better seem to have strange memory corrections. It's definitely a representative scene from Final Fantasy 7, but it's too concise and feels like it just passed by.
I think it's nothing but madness to underestimate any touching scene just because the rebirth isn't 1:1 the same as the original. Just like sending toxic tweets to Nojima, it's just madness.
If the original is good, you just have to stay stuck in the original. The developers of the remake started developing it thinking of it as a sequel, so of course the story and subsequent directing are bound to be different.
Rebirth fans trying o convince themselves that this bloated mess is somehow better. Emphasis on sadness should be on characters that are dead, not on state of mind.

It traumatized generations of players at the time, both young and old, and even more generations in the years after...
It broken hearts everywhere around the World...
That moment in the game, introduced countless numbers of younger players to emotions they may have never experienced before..sadness...despair....depression...
That scene alone managed to scarred gamers so deep, discussions and analysis continued for decades after, and still going...
The fact the original creators managed to do that in a "concise" and short scene, proves their genius, their deep understanding of that moment AND their respect for their fans' intelligence...
The Rebirth knows you've seen it before but now leaves you to marinate in both feelings. Those Feelings both side by side. Fear and Hope.

Final Fantasy 7 Remake and Rebirth literally make use of those words. Remaking the storyline in the first part of the game which lead to the rebirthing an alternate story on the second part.
The way the death scene is make with some coloration of the background as if it's within a dream-like sequence. So 50/50 chance if she died or not.😅
So many people here forget that FF7 Remake redefined what a remake should be, just like how FF7 redefined what a rpg should be
It didn't "redefine" anything it outright _reimagined_ the original story turning it into a "What If" alternate timeline which could easily pass up as a Dissidia Final Fantasy type storyline where things simply "happen differently" as they originally happened the original game. There ain't no "remake" in this story as far as i'm concerned so i'm sorry but you're wrong in even suggesting as much.
do you want advice, play or watch resident evil 4 remake, death space remake or persona 3 reload, unlike this fanfiction these are true remakes, faithful to the original work, they correct it by changing or removing certain scenes and above all they put sensible things in the plot.
Did you imagine Resident Evil 4 remake with me multiverse/timeline, numen, leon with random flashes of the future and I'll stop here because I don't want to write a papyrus
It did not redefine anything. They used padding, bloated mess of a new story that will end the same way, while also killing the iconic scenes and replacing them with less interesting ones. Threw mystery out of the window by throwing half-assed story segments that should happen later. You fight Sephiroth so many times that the only real threat in this entire game is Cloud's state of mind.
