As a veterinarian, these people are infuriating. People end up wasting money on things that don't work because people vilify veterinarians. The vast majority of us love animals and want to help in any way we can. We just also need to charge so we can eat and pay our staff a fair wage.
Vets are great but you can’t be too mad about the distrust when so many clinics charge $90+ to look at your pet, take a temp, weight and maybe offer some verbal advice. People get mad at human doctors for that, too. The stigma is there for a reason.
@@oppaloopa3698 that's literally the price to keep the lights on, pay for people to be there, and pay for medical equipment. Remember we have to use the same equipment as human med a lot of the time so get charged out the wazoo for it. 90 bucks is barely breaking even.
I think every pet should have health insurance, but the state of affairs is vastly less than ideal and I'm not blaming pet owners.
@@ImCoolLikeThatwhich is why i dont go to vets, they needa learn to get donations or backers or something lmfao cus i aint paying that bs ass price
@@Manticornthat would be catastrophic lol
This makes me feel genuinely sick. If someone gets a placebo effect from chiropractics and wants to risk it, they can go for it. But an animal or baby isn’t going to get a placebo because they don’t know what’s happening
Actually that is wrong. Placebo effect works for babies and animals too. There is lot of research for that.
I was thinking the same: they can’t consent.
@@IamAlmostRealWitch go get your cat's spine adjusted then
@@IamAlmostRealWitch I wouldn’t say there’s “a lot” of research supporting that. There’s not none, but it’s not well researched by any metric.
@@IamAlmostRealWitchThere is not a lot of research and the only one that exists it says that there might be a perceptive improvement on the eyes of caretakers and physicians that think the "therapy" (placebo) works, so children might also think so because of their caretakers reaction, but objectively there was no improvement. Its called placebo by proxy.
As the mother of a long-term NICU baby and being a spinal cord disabled wheelchair-user myself....I cannot even begin to tell you how horrifying it is for me to watch an infant get "adjusted"....holy SHIT.
Chiropractic is....there is a reason all orthopedic neurosurgeons are gym-bros, regardless of gender. Go watch a video of a spinal surgery where a bone is genuinely in need of moving--you will see one if not two (or more) incredibly jacked up surgeons using the power of the fulcrum of a 3-4' breaker bar and legit bouncing on it just to get a bone to actually move. Tendons are some tough buggers, and we articulate pretty snugly. I remain unconvinced by most of the claims I've heard about chiropractic care.
I'm not saying chiropractic is useless. I know it helps a lot of people; my grandmother was a long-term patient and got great relief from it. I've seen a rehabilitation specialist off and on for the last 15yrs who occasionally adjusts my pelvis (I have a disruption of my right SI from my accident.) But I think some of the basic claims of chiropractic like realigning your spine are a bit of bollacks. Just...my take.
I didn't finish med school or do a residency (because I had my daughter, actually). I *have* had two decades in an extremely battered and broken body which has required immense amounts of medical care & more surgeries than I can count--meaning I have more than the average person's working knowledge of the machinations of the spine. With that, and zero shade to the parents, I literally cannot fathom handing a newborn over to someone to be cracked like that. But I have seen my whole entire heart inside of an isolette hooked up to life support, and my empathy goes out to the parents of the babies who were harmed.
well, I am! Chiropracy is a scam and practors are ALL quacks! It came to the guy who invented it IN A DREAM. What helps people is the PHYSIOTHERAPY ASPECT OF THE SESSIONS.
@@pupsap7714this is your take away? The commenter did not really express any feeling of regret or resentment towards their pregnancy, they didn’t even call it an “accident child”. It’s weird to take a comment that has little to do with the commenters experience pregnant to then reply with “thank god i’m not straight and have access to abortion”. And it’s especially weird doing that to someone who hasn’t shown displeasure at being a parent.
Like if you don’t want and dislike the thought of being pregnant or ending up a parent then that’s fine as long as that path makes you happy. But to make it seem like someone else might be displeased with that? or can’t be happy that way? it just comes across as weird
@@cd5997 I'm not reading that lol
I think if you're a respected chiro and someone brings in their baby, who might be having issues, all you should do is giving them a little massage to for instance help their bowels move, it'll put the mother at ease, might actually help the baby, and it still makes them money. But 'adjusting' them.. oof
I fully believe there is no treatment you can get from a chiropractor that you can't get more effective, or scientifically backed from a Physical therapist or massage therapist
That could actually paralyze a baby, parents need to go to jail
I think if they go to chiropractor to treat colic then probably, that's definitely child engagement.
But some chiropractors might say it will treat more severe conditions, and parents will be desperate.
@@tatiana4050not an excuse, you'd still be endangering your own child
Parents should seek chirapractor even earlier than 4 days old.
Such as twisting the father scrotum even before the kid fertilization.
@@chongjunxiang3002you had me in the first half not gonna lie. I was ready to scream. 😂
i think every chiropractor should be required to tell their clients that the guy who invented it claimed he got it from contact with ghosts
Ive got chronic pain (fibro) but HEAVILY avoid chiropractors because of their associations with anti vaxxers. Genuinely did not think they could get worse
Had to job shadow at one for a week for a class. Was respectful but the chiropractor himself was a major POS. He didn't outright insult me but he did talk down to me and specifically instructed me NOT to ask questions something that literally none of ther other legit medical professionals have ever told me. The only one that came close was a surgeon but that's because they were performing surgery!
Also guess what I saw in that "clinic". Homeopathic "medicine " and, colloidal silver! Aka smurf potion
I have Fibro too. Been to a chiro and all it did was escalate my flares further and even more stiffness. Avoid unless your condition specifically benefits from chiropractic treatment. Its not exactly a trusted medical option in the first place, but I was young and desperate for answers at the time :(
Quacks stick together, the guy who invented chiropractice said it came to him in a dream. A. DREAM.
@@ember9361 It’s actually wild. And sad.
That first clip with the baby literally made me nauseated.
I'm really glad that more people are talking about this subject. I personally grew up with a dad who was part of the Christian science movement so he didn't believe in modern medicine but did support chiropractors and was related to one. As a result whenever my older brother and sister were dealing with bedwetting issues around the age of five because they were not coping with our dad divorcing their mom, he figured that the only solution was to take them both to his uncle who was a chiropractor to get their backs aligned. They did not know at the time that my brother and sister (and currently myself) all suffer from Ehlers-danlos Syndrome, which is a connective tissue disorder that makes it very easy to dislocate or damage your joints. As a result my sister ended up with a herniated disc in her lower back at the age of five that never healed properly and causes her chronic pain into her adult life. ever since I found out that that happened I have not trusted chiropractors and I would not suggest that anyone go to them especially that anyone take a child to them, because one wrong move or one undiagnosed condition with a certain part of your body, and that chiropractor could literally paralyze you. It's also worth noting that chiropractors are not medical doctors and can't actually treat anything other than a "misaligned" spine, and even the way that they do that is based off of complete pseudoscience and quackery that has no basis in scientific study.
Personally I believe that people who take their children to chiropractors should be tried for negligence but that's just my opinion because of my family history with the subject.
That's why I believe people who are considering chiro's should always first see a physical therapist
Omg, herniated disc's are no joke! My dad ended up with one after being run over at work and he could barely walk or even sit up for that matter. He had to be out of work for 6 months and have a surgery by a specialist down in Pittsburgh when I was in 3rd grade. It was awful for him as an adult, I genuinely can't imagine being 5 and suffering from that 😢
The way that baby cried in pain at the beginning 😭😭
My mom made me go to a chiropractor once. They made insane health claims, saying they could cure my depression, ADHD and insomnia and make me taller, and the process itself was extremely painful (to the point where I cried during it. I don't often cry from pain.). For a few weeks after, I had a lot more back and neck pain, to the point where I could barely turn my head without pain. After that I refused to go back. The reason my mom made me go was the because my back hurt a lot. This was because (as I had thought and a real doctor later confirmed) because I had terrible posture and carried a very heavy backpack around all day. Interestingly, my mom always complained that her back hurt more after she started going to the chiropractor.
If you still have these issues, a physical therapist helped me tremendously with bad posture
It's insane. There are so many horror stories about chiropractic treatments. A type of ′medical′ treatment shouldn't be this controversial in the modern age.
I have a cousin who is a horse chiropractor in Holland. We haven't spoken in a long time, but she told my sister that she was dissatisfied with her career.
This reads like a joke, but I’m too stupid to find the punchline.
I wish your cousin and the horses well.
HORSE CHIROPRACTOR LMAO
a INFANT?!? no. just no… their bones are literally still developing!! whatever that psycho talked that poor mom into doing clearly worked. i hope that child is ok and healed from this… I seen a lot of back alignment stuff these so called professionals do and it makes no sense. Especially the neck stretching where their like- doing literal mortal combat fatality beheadings on their patients
A lot of "satisfying"/ASMR type content including a lot of "Chiropractor" videos are fetish content for a lot of people so including children and animals in it is really gross
i liked the accidental implication that athletes are neither animal nor human. one of the biggest things that worries me with chiropractic is the uh... the ghost thing? like, half of them might well be perfectly normal medics but the other half believe that their profession was handed down to the first chiropractor by a ghost. it is quite difficult to find out which is which.
huh? are you just saying that or is there genuinely some culty bs going on
@@mmmmmmmmaria there’s a whole crazy story behind chiropractic practice
@@Feverm00n can you recommend any videos exploring this, i’d love to check it out
@mmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmaria
The first chiropractor "discovered" chiropractics during a seance. Some don't know that this is the basis of the field, while others do and think it's not a red flag.
Look up Daniel David Palmer, the seance, his school and his son that took over.
The first baby clip really pisses me off. Disgusting
That freaked me out pike hell omg
@@EvaIdk__Romania and the baby crying after wtf
I do appreciate the parodies of these chiropractor videos i.e. people snapping boards at construction sites and throwing Halloween skeletons around their house 😂
The inventor of chiropracty said it literally came to him in a dream, told to him by ghosts, so the fact that the field is littered with pseudo-science is not a surprise.
I love the videos where they ‘crack’ a horses joint (??) by pushing on them really hard and then point out the horses expression to prove they feel some sort of relief . I always thought it just looked like a patient horse wondering why some stranger is pushing them around 😅
literally, the horse just responds to their weird sudden movements and they're like "SEE!! IT KNOWS!" it really makes me laugh
Chiropractors will start adjusting a corpse's spine next
There are so many “alternative” treatments that actually work for dogs and are safe!
My dog has degenerative disk disease and does physical therapy to include water treadmill, at home exercises, laser therapy, ultrasonic therapy, massage, etc. as adjuncts to pain medication. Her disease progression has slowed dramatically and we even noticed her nighttime incontinence disappear, probably due to strengthening her muscles.
That's basically physical therapy, not alternative and what chiropractors should likely focus on. I don't send my dog to the chiropractor because my cat's psychologist and goldfish's acupuncturist think it's a bad idea
I’m glad I live in a country with a good healthcare system that views these charlatans as the dangerous parasites they are. I recommend Myles Powers’ excellent videos on the topic.
I came to recommend the same videos! They're very informative.
Yes very much so.
If you have EDS or hypermobilty, don't see chiropractor unless advised to by multiple specialists aware of hypermobility. They will twist you and you'll just keep going haha, learned this the hard way before I found out most chiros are quacks.
I've thought about your point about needing to submit paperwork to call yourself a doctor on social media too. It makes me think of how UA-cam now puts a message on every video of channels that are funded by a government.
I was in Chiropractic school for about a year and some change and we had discussions about adjust babies. Some people were all for it, but I could NEVER see my self doing that.
I am an adult that have a really bad back, and chiros really do help me. I have to do it once a week to maintain my spinal shape.
i’ve been watching this guys channel since the modern minstrel video, and i’ve always loved how sassy he is. i hope he always stays this way. love his videos
Seeing that chiropractor adjust a baby has to be one of the most evil things I’ve seen on this app.
Why in the world would a baby need that?
bold of you to assume that chiropractors even had minds to lose in the first place
OBGYN here who competes and trains horses professionally! unfortunately horse chiro is super common in the sporthorse world. i have seen adjustments on the pelvis and poll to be helpful in the event of microtrauma, but otherwise it’s just a lazy, cheap way to make owners feel better. physiology and proper, consistent exercise will always be the best line of action when treating any individual, be it human, horse, dog, or cat. i am a huge fan of acupuncture on both human and non-human animals (painless and effective, shown via empirical evidences), but it must be maintained with physical therapy and exercise. as for the babies, i will not even get into it for obvious reasons. i have had patients who received chiro work as children because of their parents and it has devastating consequences for their day to day discomfort. this is true of adults as well, but children rarely have medical autonomy.
@@foolishlyfoolhardy6004 There is plenty of empirical evidence favoring acupuncture for many conditions, but definitely not all or even most that traditional Chinese medicine implies. I wish I could link on youtube, but unfortunately, I cannot.
Do we need to revive "don't shake the baby"?
God this video was hard to watch. I can't believe people are doing this.
the only chiropractor I visited was an orthopedic doctor as well and while he did adjustments he told me many times that i need to work on my posture and strengthen my back to fell better in the long run
chiropractors lost their minds the day they became chiropractors.
Saw Colloidal silver in the "pharmacy " section at one. Chiropractor also explicitly told me not to ask questions about what he was doing and why.
I’m so glad you’re bringing awareness to this!
Not the babyyyyy 😭👶
It really doesn’t do anything for lower back pain …as soon as you move their manipulation moves …massage therapy and PT is MUCH better but insurance won’t pay for massage.
Unfortunately, too many people don't want to hear that the best way to cure or minimize back pain is to keep active, do gentle excercise and have the willpower to gradually get back to normal. Chiro promises a quick fix with no effort, which is much more appealing.
these videos are extremely difficult for me to watch, especially the babies.
My senior year of high school one of my teachers was also a chiropractor. He told us that he frequently adjusts babies and even once adjusted an actual newborn. Needless to say I questioned his legitimacy for the rest of the school year.
My mom took me to a chiropractor-type lady all the time as a kid. She’d put on gloves and shove her fingers into my mouth, pressing super hard against my jaw from the inside. I’d cry a lot and hated it, but there’s not much I could do, not to mention I had undiagnosed autism that made the whole experience so much worse having to be touched by a stranger every few weeks.
Always the voice of reason! Thank you Robbert your vids are much appreciated and very needed.
I was in a terrible car accident as a child, the insurance sent me to a chiropractor. My parents didn't know any better so they took me diligently to every appointment. I'm not gonna make any claims about it making me worse but I had to drop out of school by 16 years old because my back was so effed up. Physical therapy is what ACTUALLY helps.
I will never *EVER* go to a chiropractor again!!! One ruined my back for two years
I totally put that on the expensive medical care in the US. Chiropractics are so cheap in comparison, the perfect snake oil for people who actually need an Orthopedist.
Its quackery, plain and simple, dangerous quackery.
As an physician myself I know that some situations require manual readjustments, but those are usually performed AFTER reviewing images to confirm the condition and the adjustments are conducted by licenced traumatologists that are also legally liable in case they fck you up.
And yes, manipulating the neck is ALWAYS unnecessary and dangerous.
*Reads title*
My mind: "Bold of you to assume they had anything to lose."
A lot of these baby adjusters also will speak to ghosts to do the adjustments.
I think you’re being overly generous about the effectiveness of chiropractic treatment of back pain. Its been shown to be *as* effective as a massage. So just stretching muscles really. Its all complete pseudoscience.
I think he's trying to not trigger the chrio supporters, but yes, evidence does suggest that they are next to useless and that PT/Massage/OT have demonstrative outcomes.
My dad is a chiropractor and I tried to show him some videos of people doing crazy stuff like this and he couldn’t watch it made him scared for the patients
Fwiw horse "chiros" are more like physical therapists -you can't do violent adjustments in a horse, so its all massage and holding body parts in a centain position until the horse relaxes (licks and chews). Surely not all of them are that helpful, but they dont hurt (and certifications exist).
Such an important video!
Animals, people, athletes.
Uh yes the three genders
As someone with scoliosis and a sternum that sinks in, I would never go near a chiropractor. I much prefer exercise and stretching. When I don't workout for a while my hips get misaligned but everytime I consistently stretch and workout my scoliosis looks a lot less severe and my sternum doesn't look as sunken in, it's just about consistency
Very nice video. Thank you :)
very glad you got out of the digital circus to drop THIS banger
Thank you for this
I can't imagine if the doctor's did some quack hpv treatment on my sister instead of the one they actually did which we still almost lost her even with actual qualified doctor's.
It was kinda surprising to me to learn that chiropractic was so controversial, as the only exposure I had to it was the equine kind. And all the equine chiropracticers I've worked with have been liscenced, highly regarded vets. They make no claims about miracles, but are pretty practical about what it can and cannot do. I've seen it help horses, included my own with some pelvic problems.
Just the sound of bones cracking freaks me out
Even when I was in massage school, we looked at Chiropractors like Snake-oil.
My husband went to a sports medicine doctor for his back pain. I’m so glad the doctor suggested a cat scan for Rob so we could find out it was a tumor in his spine.
i have seen chiros who are PEDIATRIC "specialists" just horrifying. its completely different from a pediatric doctor with the appropriate training
I really don’t think we should be taking babies and animals who can’t consent to fake doctors that could potentially seriously injure them. I say that as someone that went to a chiropractor after a car accident and i felt amazing after those visits lol. But I was informed of the risks and made that decision on my own
When I was in HS, I went to a chiro because I had a very bad crick in my neck and could not breathe right. He cracks me. I feel better for a bit. Next day at school, my leg loses feeling and swells up. I don’t remember the details but he fucked up my sciatic nerve, my nervous system got confused, and now I have CRPS, literally called the most painful disease known to man, because of a chiropractor
What is the difference between a physical therapist and a chiroprachter? I know many people say Chiropractic care is largely a scam but what about PT? Edited: I think Chiro can be good for certain types of back pain, but not everything they claim to fix and NOT on babies
Physical therapists actually have medical education. You need a doctorate to be a physical therapist
Let's not overstate the case re chiropractice for back pain either - although it is used in many clinical guidelines the quality of the research is still lacking
Wasn’t the practice invented by a magnetic healer who claimed he got the knowledge from seances and it was spread by his son after he died under mysterious circumstances? Or am I remembering wrong
Does this not work for animals? Chiropractic services have done wonders for me personally and many others.
I know close people who had suffered injuries because of chiropractors.
If you want a massage, go to a massage parlor with a regular masseuse.
Many states have laws about how chiropractors can advertise…maybe people need to report him in his state
I always find it interesting that anyone actually goes to an believes chrios. If they were actually fixing issues the way they tout, they would be in hospitals. Funny that they arent eh?
Just some insight, in Missouri if you want a chiropractor for your horse you are REQUIRED to get a fully licensed chiropractor that is a dr AND specializes in animals. If you can’t find that you are required to have an extensive vet examination the day before letting someone not certified to treat pets work on them. Even if they treat humans unless they are also certified to treat pets you are required to include the vet visit and cost.
Edit: Ps I shill wouldn’t ever expose this to my animals I just don’t see the point unless it’s for something incredibly specific. I only know about this from other equestrians. I myself have worse back and neck pain as the result of a chiropractor.
some of the videos are even faked where thay just add the cracking sound effect
In my experience, most chiropractors never had their minds.
I have a really bad back and those guys do help me out, so please don't outlaw them, it really does work for me, at least on a once a week basis.
das cool, you 6 months old doe??
why are these videos triggering my gag reflex???
This man should NOT be working on babies what the f
I haven't seen pictures of that guy from the bully in a long time but I think you kinda look like him. Not the main guy, I forgot his name but it's something funny
The only chiropractor I trust wore blue spandex.
Bro infants don’t even come with all the bones included and you wanna crank their necks all the way like that?????
what abusive people!😡
bold of you to assume they had minds to lose.
Social media ‘chiropractors’ just want to show the bone cracks cause that gets the views. This is sooo dangerous. Go to a proper chiropractors!
PRO-Animal-Chiro here. Years ago, a vet told me my cat had fusion of the lower spine and said she had about 6 months to live. She was in pain. Refusing to accept the normal vet's diagnosis, I took her to my chiropractor whom happened to also be one of the few chiropractors nearby whom also worked on animals. With chiropractic care, my cat regained mobility, was relieved of pain, and lived for another 6 YEARS - a full healthy life, passing at 15 years old. The regular vet was astonished. I was not as surprised, chiropractic care can be a great treatment when performed thoughtfully, whether it be on humans of any age, or other animals.
oh god i’m 30 seconds in and don’t know if i can make it through the sounds of those poor helpless creatures and babies
My dog went to a doggie “chiropractor” (was really a massage and physical therapy thing, but the buzz word gets people in the door). It was bc he had really bad back pain and neck pain from jumping off the couch weird. Old dog. He was feeling better after a few appointments
I’m all for doing your own research, it’s great! But when the bulk of information out there is actually bad and hard to understand, maybe take a step back and ask A QUALIFIED MEDICAL PROFESSIONAL IN THE AREA OF EXPERTISE THAT PERTAINS TO YOU. I think getting adjusted is all fine and dandy but it certainly isn’t the magical cure all people seem to think it is.
Great video, always glad to see i

no matter what your body has going on, chiropractors try to insist the root cause is your back is misaligned. they say EVERYONE is misaligned. my parent's chiro tried to say i was "in severe need of adjustment" at age 8. i never had any back pain, leg pain, any other pain at that time, didnt have any actual problematic misalignment, just a very "normal" average shaped spine. the fact that people are doing this on animals and infants is horrendous and so dangerous. chiro should be for a specific spine-related issue, not for random shit. had another chiro say it would help my ptsd somehow. wheres the science proving thats the best option lol

You know that person in your life who constantly clicks their joints idly? You know how people (wrongly) say it'll give you arthritis? Well, chiropractic is like that if the risk of damage was real. If you have a crick in your neck, go lie down. Popping your joints does not cure any condition, drink some water. Also America seriously needs affordable healthcare so people don't do this.
I see a chiropractor and a physical therapist, and they both help me manage chronic pain.
It's all about the $$$$$
i beg people to just go see a physical therapist. they have a real evidence based doctorates.
Your framing is horrific, I think with a good reason. But the arguments are more hearsay than facts and your expose is more about the same spectacle as correcting a moral wrong. You don't get my vote on this, simply because of the missing evidence of wanting to correct it.
