Erebus is such a great character, and this short story from his POV is the ultimate ‘haters gonna hate.’ I love how completely uninterested he is in justifying or explaining himself, and he does it all with a smug grin on his face. He’s all like, “Oh, you wanted to know my real name and secret tragic backstory that explains and justifies everything I’ve done? F*** you, that’s what.”
And no matter how much you hate him, Erebus is right about at least one thing: he’s been 100% committed to his cause from the start, and he doesn't give a single flying f*** about what anybody thinks of him-while having no illusions about any of it.
this is all true at first i didnt like him but now he one of my favourites lol

Relistening to this, and have just realised what an advantage it is to Erebus that his true name is not known (or even suspected). True names have enormous significance in sorcery and daemonology... No doubt many attempts to curse him have failed for this reason over the millenia!

As someone who recently read The Sublime Object of Ideology, I find his conversion fascinating. Erebus becomes a believer by pretending to be a believer. It’s an essentially Faustian operation.

The creepiest shit in this entire book is his life on Colchid before even becoming Astartes, caused it indicates he committed all these psycho murders before he was even a teen.
This guy can write. And you got the character SOO right. I loved the way you made a lot of what he was transcribing as a matter of fact. Brilliant job APB.

You are assuming he didn't plan the whole thing out . Erebus is a master of schemes but in the domain of manipulating fates he is nothing compared to the Emperor.
Infact only tzeentch can square up to him in this sector . The whole thing was planned and executed well in my opinion.
