I truly enjoy the Guard stories. Especially when they arent being banally massacred. After all, the fight and win the majority of the Imperium's battles.
They usually lose because the leadership is incompetent.
Guardsman stories are in my opinion better than some space marine stories.
It's the guardman's that hold the line for 10000 years they've held
They're endearing. The Guardsman is always the underdog. He is underfed, underarmed, and under-equipped. The only thing a Guardsman has that other races and factions don't is faith. Reading through the Horus Heresy novels It truly did seem that the smallest cogs were the most important. Unimportant or low ranking people made more difference than legions because they had faith and luck on their side.
I think they are most of the times, my loyalty is to the mechanicus but I distrust the astartes.
There more human than a space marine
You kept in suspense because anything can kill a guardsman. #whenyouaretoughtness3

This story is really gripping--this was a very enjoyable story of a dedicated and competent guard commander doing the Emperor's work. It brings to mind Arnold Schwarzenegger battling with the virtually invisible Predator alien. The Emperor protects!

Guardsman have the best stories
This was my first collection of short stories in the 40 k universe. Fond memories.
If there is one thing I noticed about guard novels is that they are always under equipped or suffering from logistical incompetence. This story is a good example as the guardsmen were taken by surprised and attacked while having a victory parade so they are stuck wearing unprotected uniforms and limited heavy weapons. You almost never see a guard novel where the guard are at full logistical strength steamrolling their opponents with the countless amounts of heavy weapons and tanks that they can bring to bear. Great story and read by the way.

recently discovered your videos and audiobooks. really nice work! got a really good accentuation in your voice. only thing: i would really advise you to use a pop filter. E.g. on the introduction the "b" in "borderprince" pops just right at you. Besides that a better mic would of course be helpful. but i tell you, if you improve your setup just a little you will be on par with most of the professional audiobook production out there. especially with the use of environment and ambience sound you use in some of the other vids. keep on the good work!

Great work, the material is gripping too the only thing is I don't understand how a guardsmen is bayonetting a eldar. Like I thought they would dance around guardsmen. I also thought they wouldn't attack in a frontal sort of attack but maybe they were in a desperate situation or lost their leader etc
@@PodreyJenkin138 Hey in tabletop rockets can hit jetbikes and lasguns can kill eldar. Besides this story came out long before games workshop starting wanking of the power levels of space marine and xeno factions.
Hey guardsmen can bayonete eldar in tabletop and in the RPGs so it isn't that much of a stretch.
