Definitely the description would be great. This guy is a godsend. I can't afford the books as dying is expensive need a transplant. Have nothing to do all day. Especially when I'm on dialysis. Going to be sad when I run through them.
Wish GW would have a subscription service for books. Have access to the Black Library in both audio and on an app. 10$ a month! I think that's fair. Be able to fully own one too if you wanted to do so.

@@dianapennepacker6854 I highly recommend checking out ebooks (especially kindle-versions), they are really cheap usually, and there are apps and reader programmes out there for all devices. I wish there was a model for those AM-10 Hammergoat halftracks mentioned at the beginning. The Guard could use more light vehicle options. Plus it could be pretty versatile. Keep the bed open for personnel or cargo carrying, or use the space to mount a bunch of heavy bolters/stubbers for infantry fighting, or maybe use the whole bed to mount an anti-air flak cannon. Hell if you want to be crazy mount a turret with a lascannon in it on top of the cab for anti-vehicle service. Would be a lot of fun and match the WW2 In Space aesthetic of the Guard really well.

Well, answers lies in this very story. Quality of Imperial guard troops here is astounishingly bad. They are so inept that they barely know how to operate their lasguns or take them out of their cases. They had spent 4 years fighting civil war on backwater world. Hardened veterans are being utterly outmatched by a single hormagaunt. No wonder that once they met real enemy, everybody collapses, panicked and started to flee out of their defensive trenches.

What a great story! Now I wanna know what happened to this planet and its people. The priest and the rebel/theif also, lol.
Did you call the inquisitorial agent a Navigator? Or did i miss that and he was a three eyed navigator? I also like how they just run right past the fact the grave digger saw him and he killed him.
I guess it wasnt justice they were looking for, just a way to help the slave community/mutant community.
You dont usually see any credence being given mutants hardly ever. So seeing them have a local preist that is trying to save their souls is interesting.
In fact I dont think Ive ever seen a similar scene in any other book within 40k. Yeah they are almost always being purged or are so far in the background as characters to reinforce the in universe narrative of them being a sub class of humans if tolerated at all.
I recall in the eisenhorn books, one of eisenhorns companions flirting with a mutant bar girl, lol. Thats about the closests thing I can think up to civilized life for them.

At that end, Roth seems like a kind enough Inquisitor to have most if not some of the population of Cyrene Prima evacuated. The Imperium needs more settlers after all. I'm surprised at incompetence and degradation of quality amongst Imperial personal. Someone who can read an augur array, someone who is an expert marksman is considered as part of elite Inquisitorial team. On the other hand, hardened Imperial mountaineers are of barely any combat worth. They were slaughtered by a single hormagaunt...Even I could dispatch it without too much of a trouble, but here he was too fast for them and was killing them one by one. These are type of quality troops which we see from rookies in XCOM, panicking, dropping their weapons and spraying bullets upon their allies or constantly blowing themselves up with live grenades...
Then Imperials set up their defense perimeter and plan to hold for 8 weeks against threat they all too familiar with. They lasts 5 hours... The sheer level of incompetence is staggering of Imperial authorities and troops as seen from Imperial guard soldiers in this story, as heard from primus genestealer talking how utterly incompetent Imperial garrison was there, how they managed to fight 4 years of civil war on a planet heavily infested with genestealers and somehow not notice that!

      Yer truly naive, jolly lad.
A Hormagaunt is a killing machine up close, faster, stronger and way more nimble than human, not to mention it's claw-blades capable of shearing bones and armour like paper. I'd wager you'd sooner soil your pants rather than even try fighting it. Not to mention it having advantage of suprise and darkness. And still they only lost 3 troopers.
Now imagine bazillions of said Hormagaunts deployed along way more scary bioforms and Hive Ships. They only had three Regiments of rather manpower-low but elite nature (Airborne Assault Pioneers, Commandos, Reconnaissance Mechanized) and artillery deployed to quell uprising by precision strikes. Hardly suprising that such battlegroup couldn't stand to WHOLE Hive Fleet, especially when all of their more valuable personnel and commanders were evac'd.

@@bartomiejboguski9676 Hormagaunt is like a dog. It is not particularly dangerous even up close. It is armored, but any military grade small arms will go right through. It is small, but not particularly nimble due to armor and small muscles. It has claws, but it has tiny brain. They are predictable and clumsy.
Imperial forces there were very incompetent. If you would pay attention to the story, you will discover interesting bits. They are waging long war against rebels, but are oblivious to advanced state of genestealer infection which is kinda hard to miss with all those sub-humans and monsters running around. Second clue is this scene where they get absolutely slaughtered by a single hormogaunt. Third clue is how poorly they performed in large scale warfare vs how they were expected to perform by their commanders. Fourth and most solid clue is at the end where genestealer leader had laughed at Imperial guard forces garrisoned there. How they did not even knew how to use their weapons. That level of incompetence is greater than just arming bunch of civilians with guns. It is no surprise that if a normal soldier was so incompetent that then being an elite merely meant that you could do what you were told, jump from plane, climb mountain, fire a gun. Basic IG stuff.

At this point I don't even know or care if you're trolling or have perfidiously non existent understanding of 40k, Nids and narration methods.

@@REgamesplayer hormaguants are exceptionally deadly. they lack the killing power of their more advanced brethren but they are amongst the fastest of all the nids. if they are far away they can be dealt with but up close one of them is more then a match for multiple relatively unarmored humans. even if they are fairly elite and well equipped.
