New S&W Performance Center Shield Plus Comp Carry Model Gun Review

- Опубліковано 9 вер 2024
- Smith & Wesson Performance Center Shield Plus Carry Comp Model has a built in Barrel and Slide Compensator that makes it a flat shooting handgun and yet diverts the gases away from the slights. It has the Performance Center Upgrades and the Trigger is excellent. Shoots likes a full size gun but carries like a micro 9. Thanks to Smith & Wesson for Partnering with us. #SmithandWessonPartner

I ended up going all in with these Comp Carry models. I bought the full size and the Shield version. Then I put on the same green dot Holosun style sights on it. The plan is to use the shield for carry and the full size for home defense. Then I can become more comfortable with the same style pistols.
👎👎👎 You put on the "greed" dot ; why not the reed dot ?
Great plan, sir! Always excellent idea to keep the carry and home defense pistols with the same type of controls.
@dareisnogod5711 Why not? Also what's a Reed dot?
I just got the carry comp yesterday. I use the M&P 10mm for home.
@@dareisnogod5711 green shows up better for most people, myself included.
S&W is coming out with some fantastic firearm options. Good for them.
I have the 4" Performance Center with the Ported Barrel Shield. I love it. It's my everyday carry on most days. I also have the 3.1" PC that I carry from time to time. I might get this one too for the heck of it. I love S&W guns. They just work for me.
Same, I've tried quite a few different brands at this point and they all have their pros and cons but I keep cooking back to S&W.
Helps that through many thousands of rounds with a couple dozen handguns, I've only ever had two failures across four different Smiths. Two. In several thousand rounds. I've had at least three or four issues on EACH of all the other guns I've shot.
have thousands through my 3.1 shield plus. recently bought the 4 inch ported pc model and thats veen flawless as well and ive been carrying that now. Looks like ill be getting this one as well for the hell of it.
I bought this gun, and it is awesome and I a lefty. By the way, it does have that lever to disengage the striker to not have to pull the trigger. Another thing that Smith did was to change the angle of that witness chamber indicator hole, so that the gasses don't smoke up the attached optic, if you put one on. Look inside where the hole is on the face of the slide you will see a small angle cut to redirect the gasses forward.
Mine has been flawless. Great review, thank you and respect.
Great review. I finally upgraded from Shield to Shield plus. That was a big improvement.
Great review as always Don !
Would love to see a comparison between this and the P365 xMacro comp and to hear your thoughts on which one shoots better.
Excellent content. The format of these reviews is the most helpful compared with the other leading reviewers. I now only consider buying a new addition after thoroughly digesting a sootch00 video. As he says, this truly is the golden era for choice and ownership.
Thanks Andy! I appreciate your comment!
Outside the comp, I’m loving the new serrations and the night sights on it. I carry a base model plus rn and this would be a great upgrade
Clean ejections, well done s&w! Now do a Shield in 10mm plz! 🙏
carry comp vs hellcat pro comp vs xmacro
S&W created a sweet carry gun, add a good red dot, break it in, and good to go. 👍🏻
I like S&W revolvers, but they are too expensive nowadays.
@@joaopedrobaggio4475 I don't like caviar, doesn't matter how much.
Putting a red dot on a handgun is like putting training wheels on a bicycle. Just learn to use iron sights and you will be just fine
@@thebiglebowski8591 Shooting isn't riding a bike. If something makes you better use it, everyone's eyes are different.
@@thebiglebowski8591 Let’s see, do you have any LE or Mil experience? Do you shoot competition? I have 28yrs LE, firearms instructor, master class Idpa ssp (iron sights), and I’ve changed tactics & training when better ideas come along. Dot sights on pistols to me are better than irons. Maybe you should go backwards and just shoot a single action revolver?
I always like your reviews about guns I have a shield plus and I'm from Israel thank you for the fun you give us dear man
As one of the other comments stated, I too watch your reviews before making a fash to the local dealers.
Greatly appreciated 🎓💪🏼🇺🇸
Nice looking finishes on the frame and slide.
Thanks, I work on the Finishing dept
Smith got this one right . Big thanks for the video.
Thank you Sootch. Long live The Republic. Now more than ever we need to take our country back. God bless you.
I have the shield 1.0, put a competition trigger in it, replace the sear the spring the front and rear sights with tritium and dayglow and added 10 round magazines. It's by far the best shooting pistol I have I wouldn't get rid of it for anything.
Best gun reviews on YT ...👍👍
Thank you Jeff! 👍👍
@@sootch00 much better than Hickok45...👍👍
@@jeffanon1772Hickok 45 videos are done in one shot, no cuts, no music, no intro, no movie effects, no ballistic gel. People like him for certain charisma. Sometimes I don't understand his Neshville English. Its nice to have different gun reviewers.
I've been waiting for you to review this gun ... Thank you. ... My next gun.
What we want is a CSX 2.O Comp RDR!
With a bigger beaver tail and upgraded trigger too.
@@JimD410that og trigger is what killed the csx. They forgot that the only reason most people even consider sao hammer fire guns for ccw is the better trigger. When the csx came out there was really no reason to get it over a p365
@@andyrihn1 yep, and I have big hands and I get slide bit too. I still like the weapon it just could of been better.
Did you feel like the extended barrel/slide made the gun feel off balance at all? Saw someone say that they felt it made it feel top/front heavy compared to the original shield plus
Very nice looking S&W, love their guns. Great review Sootch!!
Cant wait until September 1st to pick mine up! The shield plus is my favorite micro 9 and the one im most accurate with. Hope that this one meets my expectations
$649 seems like a steal. Yup, this is my next carry. Thanks 👍
*sootch00* Beautiful shooter you got there sootch, thank-you sir for taking the time to show us. GOD Bless brother. (( PS, love my new flashlight ))
Good Morning Kevin! Hope you're doing well! Thanks for stopping by.
God Bless you and yours my friend!
@@sootch00 You bet, all the best. Peace & Grace.
The best slide serrations similarly grippy like Walther put on the PDP pistols.
Hi Don,
Once again S and W has come to us again. The beauty of firearms to the market. I thought I was wowed with the Shield Plus PC 4 “ model but now I am wowed by this series. Again your video on this is just another example of why we watch sootch00.
Well done
God bless
Damn i miss the fish scales. Im sure the new ones are fine
Man I love the Shield 🛡️ Plus model….
looks snappy nice though
great review ! thanks
Those slide serrations!!!! There's a pinky extension you can buy for the small grip for about $15 for 2, they work great.
Link?
The original shield is still MY CC love it
The shield plus does have the seer disconnect lever so you don’t have to pull the trigger when you disassemble the firearm.
Yeah I don’t know why he said that. It was clearly there.
It’s probably because he does so many reviews and knowing the kinds of bloopers he has to edit out. I give the man a pass.
I’d love a performance center 4” barrel minus the ported / comp portion. Then we could swap it out for a threaded barrel and supress it.
S&W has been putting out some incredibly quality pistols these last few years. I’m gonna be broke before long. 😂
Not a bad price at all. Good job smith.
Good information, Sootch. Thank you.
That model has the takedown lever. All m&ps do. It’s that yellow bit by the sear. Be better.
Thanks, I work in Finishing dept :)
I went with the compact model because I also wanted the Bodyguard 2.0 😂
Glad to have found your channel.
I was waiting for you to review this S&W thanks Don!
The MOST BAD ASSERY that has came out in a LONG TIME
The regular shield plus also can use that 15 round magazine. And it's available for it ever since it's came out. I know I own one, and it's not even a performance center. But it has performance center sites I had put on it shoots fantastic
REGULAR shield plus ROCKS and is smaller!
Hopefully they get more discounts with these new ones out. I want a 3.1in pc version
Great video nice Smith and Wesson handgun thanks for sharing sootch00
Great video! ❤️
Is there a magwell that would fit, and is there a way to attach a weapon light?
How do you think this compares to the shield plus ported 4" pc that you previously reviewed?
Adding to my tool box.
bout time dude!!!! it has been out for over a month and no one is reviewing it whats up with that
Too busy reviewing the bodyguard 2.0, the most reviewed gun ever lol
Had to wait for his freebie to arrive and the sponsor check to clear first
I definitely want the thumb safety model.
Why?
The shield thumb safety was not well executed. hard to engage and disregard so I kept mine in the off position. if someone offered a replacement that extended further out in width and was longer that could fix the issue.
@@freakfly23 ignorance is addressable, stupid likely not.
@@freakfly23??? For safety! Many of us learned in the military. If carry appendix...and you like your nuts ...it's no different than anything...train that way. Why do folks keep asking this question. Pull, finger off trigger, take off safety...duhhh.
Does anyone know what brand of pistol is known for most self inflicted wounds and negligent discharges? Glock.
This is a ported gun, not compensated. Idk why people cant understand this. Comps dont use barrel porting..
Good price
I love my M&Ps have a couple versions. But i bought the 365 XMACRO with the comp cut a don't see where gasses are blowing back as bad as everyone is saying. I've had a little on the front sight but can still see it fine. But, none at all on my red dot. Shooting 124gr Critical defense.
Wish that I had known this was coming out, before I bought a Canik.
Lol same, I compared this to my MC9 yesterday at the shop and I'm crying a tad bit on the inside. Only advantage I see to the Canik atm is that it's has a RMSc/k slide cut so I could mount the EPS Carry directly to the slide.
Get a new friend your current ones 😉
@@rushthezeppelin
The shield here has the same cut, lol.
@@toddk1377 So it can direct mount the Holosun RMSk mount optics as well as RMSc?
The grip on the plus fits better. I didn't like the shield and 2.0 grip. Install an Apex Tactical trigger kit on it and it will be sweet
Do youthink it would shoot any better than the equalizer?? it shoots really well!!
This looks so nice! I am excited to trade my original shield plus up for this comp model.
dont trade. keep your current one too
Sar, I really very good all video 💯👍
Glad they got rid of those god awful fiber optic sights on the 4in shield plus pc
Looks good❤
Like a Glock 48 , but improved.
Hell yeah 👍
My son in law has an original shield I think is a very nice gun and shoots well
I regret getting rid of mine.
@@TonerLowyou can find new og ones for $250 these days.
Not a huge fan of these I don’t see the need to add a compensator to a concealed carry pistol and I think the new slide serrations cheapen the look
Need this .... too bad I'm in a nanny state lord knows when this will be "state Compliant"
I had the original shield and did not like it. It was very ammo specific and mine hated CCI 9mm? So I sold it and got a Taurus G3 and love it. I'm a S&W fan and my father was a Master Fitter for S&W and was one of the people that worked to starting the Performance Center Dept. for the company. Your video here is very detailed and well done. Due to this awesome presentation I will buy the new and improved PC Shield. Thanks Sootch for doing a very polished informative review. PS: The new handgun is a secret and pls do not tell my better half LOL.
I experienced the opposite, my shield plus is one of only two handguns I've ever owned/tried that eats absolutely everything I put in it.
The other was an M&P 2.0 😅
@@SliderFury1 That's awesome. If my original shield did that I would have kept it. My shield was sent back to S&W and they polished the feed ramp and I changed to new mags and still had issues. I just got a lemon.
I got reallly good with original one. Im curious to get a hold of that one.
It’s comp-ensator not comp-etition
I shot a regular shield against a ported performance center model and noticed no real difference personally.
Thank goodness they made it so someone can mount a flashlight and 3x9 scope on a carry gun....😂
Wish they could have comped the original slide length. I don’t like how long it is.
🔥👍
I wonder if I can use my existing 9mm and 30sc Shield Plus barrels in the Shield Plus Carry comp slide?
It seems like if you’re using the normal Plus barrels, it would copy what the Sig Xmacro does with their comped slide, and what the PSA Micro Dagger comped C-1 slide does, which is use the shorter barrel that doesn’t extend into the comped portion of the slide.
Are you sure this model also comes with a thumb safety? If so I would certainly consider it. If not no way.
They usually offer the thumb safety models no long after the launch. I'll be surprised if they don't soon. Thanks John~
@@sootch00 hopefully it will go nicely with the ported 10mm performance center which has a thumb safety. My wife purchased one and is very happy with it . Actually just edited after checking, it was your review of that firearm that swung her to picking it up, THANK YOU
Thumb safeties on the shields are horrible to use. They make them too small and hard to use. I'd go with a different model if you really want a thumb safety. If they used the same style of safety selector like they did on the EZ pistols, I think that would be much better.
@@toddk1377 Ty for the info and the slide release on the 10 mm isn’t as nice as it could be although it is loosening up a bit 👍
Smith really needs to go back to coating the frames the I absolutely hate that matte look my shield plus is like that. The earlier shield plus had a cerakoted black frame and it looked so much better.
That thing is huge. I will stick with my M&P Polymer Carry Comp. 🇺🇸
so what, if any, is the difference in the trigger between the carry comp PC shield and the standard shield plus? it looks exactly the same. is it PC tuning ? what does that involve and how does that translate to shooting experience ?
Is it me Unk or was the Smith & Wesson 4-in performance shield that you reviewed two years ago lighter recoil and the same exact pistol is this except for the slide?!🤔 The recall even seems less from the version you had two years ago.
And long live the Democracy. 💯
TheHubleMarksman had big issues with his Carry Comp.
How top heavy is it? I always thought the original 4 inch shield plus was a bit top heavy.
Muzzle flip is ridiculously low.
plz review the compact carry comp
30sc when?!
After a .45 version and I've about given up on ever seeing that.
I like the port on top, but the sides on the end of the slide look sloppy or an afterthought. The lines are not straight. Looks weird. They should’ve left it solid with the comp on top.
I love all of the new guns but I still daily carry my S&W sd 40 first gen. It has saved my life once already so I trust it and can't get rid of it
Can you order it with the option of wanting three of the same size clips ?
This looks interesting but the prices are $599 and up. Not sure if it's worth the cost. I bought my new G19-5 MOS with Holosun for $700. I'll see how prices come down on these.
Wise decision. Overpaying for a firearm when they first come out SUCKS! Watch around Thanksgiving or Christmas companies will start offering REBATES and various gear up packages with bags and additional magazines 💯💯💯💯💯
@@OliGrant-sw8by smith is in the middle of their rebate season now so best your gonna see is the annual mag deal and hopefully a price drop.
Got my G29 gen5 10mm for $550 and it is my edc, people say it’s too heavy but it is super similar in weight to any of the high capacity slim 9s with full mags.
The only drawback is the lack of a light rail. Cmon S&W
How would you rate the recoil mitigation between this vs. the Sig X-Macro Comp?
I can't believe it doesn't have a rail.
It's more of a concealed carry gun than a household or nightstand gun, so they designed it for minimal bulk, and greater holster compatibility.
@@georgegravette1132 Market has been begging S&W for a rail for years. They put one on the equalizer. No reason they wont do it other than too proud to accept that's where everyone else is now. Sig, springfield, glock, you name it
I tried it at range USA I loved it but the sights where of smh…paying that much for a pistol like that with something as critical as the sight being of is off putting for me
The slide is extremely stiff for a 9mm.
😊❤❤❤
Is it top-heavy, knowing that the frame is made out of polymer?
Is this better than the GLOCK 19?Thanks
Several of my ancestors were Career (20 years plus!) LAW ENFORCEMENT Officers. And they always said; if you actually "Need" more then a 6 round revolver........ Your in deep do-do! And you should have NEVER got mixed up in such a street battle (without SWAT or the National Guard at your back!) to begin with.
These were Men who worked the roughest neighborhoods in town. And almost NEVER had to "draw a gun"! Let alone fire it. The "Bad Guys" had enough brains (and RESPECT!) that they knew, once the uniformed Officers had arrived; your very BEST OPTION was to be courtesy, respectful and GO QUIETLY.
Yes, it was a far, far better Country in those days. It didn't really start turning to krap until the 1980's.
So very Sad 😢
No disrespect but come on man that's 70 year old thinking when cops carried revolvers. Today's cop carry 15 rounds or more service autos.
Nobody EVER said, "I wish I had less ammo."
Are you saying democrats are demons?
#facts
Crack era
Everything changed then
Is the slide length similar to the Glock 48?
That looks great and seems to be an awesome pistol but imo it totally defeats the purpose of carrying a shield in the first place!?! Which is a small carry able package. Same with the Hellcat pro and Sig 365 Max. I just don’t get it might as well just get a Glock 19 sized pistols if your gonna get those bigger models of “micro pistols”. 🤷♂️
