I think he actually died before proper filing of the marriage certificate! The witnesses needed to sign and file it with the clerk! 👩🏽⚖️🤭 The marriage could have been challenged in real life! 🤔🤯
It was a little longer than that. She met the "old billionaire" at the same time she met Blake--what made Cecil furious at Blake was that Blake "stole" Alexis from him.
I never thought of it before, but Cecil's plot for vengeance in marrying Alexis so as to leave her and Blake "at each others' throats" is what set up the main conflict for the rest of the series: Alexis/ColbyCo versus Blake/Denver-Carrington. Cecil was a true mastermind, but Alexis and Blake made much more potent adversaries than did Cecil and Blake.
emerybayblues right the way they wrote it. that confused me. but then there's the episode where they are reading the will and they play the video tape of him and he says he's always been upset at Blake because Blake stole Alexis from him. sometimes the writing confuse me as to what was really going on
Cecil died knowing the blood bath he was stirring between Alexis and Blake but deep down inside Alexis still loved Blake no matter how much they fought
The good old days when drama or melodrama, ha,ha kept you watching. Great plots, good looking sets and beautiful actresses and actors, an hours television to take you away from reality xxx
THIS SHOW WAS THE CHIIIIIIIIT!!!! THE DAMNED PIANIST SLIDING HIS FINGERS AGAINST THE KEYS AT THE END AND EVERYTHING--OR IS THAT A HARP????!!!! YES, I AM SHOUTING!!! PURE GOLD!!!
All that money and power and those folk sit around all day obsessing over their enemies. Give me that kind of loot and I wouldn't be thinking about ANY of mine. "Blake, who" - LOL!
She had possibly some family monies and she had been getting from Blake's irrevocable trust fund 250K annually which even though it's not chump change it's not enough to effectively fight back against Blake's millions.
Flenif2247 sweetheart, you have an opinion just as I do, and yes I met her in person in New York and her demeanor was BEYOND NASTY. Now, would you like to continue questioning me about MY OPINION in hopes of keeping me quiet with very little facts to back up my statement???
A rare mistake JC makes here: @ 3:49 when Cecil is starting to have his fatal heart attack she says (as usual) "Cecil" but @ 3:50 she uses the American pronounciation of "Seecil" - the way the rest of the cast pronounce his name.
That's a very good plot device: Cecil accepting to marry Alexis knowing she was only interested in destroying Blake with Cecil's fortune. I guess she didn't expect then that she would have had to do it by herself after Cecil's sudden death. Joan Collins was never really good at playing emotional scenes and her reactions are camp as hell, making me wondering if it's the character Alexis who's overacting or if it's just Joan being simply' unconvincing. The only bad thing is that we were then supposed to believe that Alexis was a fierce and competent business woman while all she's been doing so far was to be a socialite and a painter. Just a few episodes later, she took over ColbyCo and made all the business decisions by herself and everyone took for granted that she was the best woman in business.
Cecil confronted Alexis about her reason for marrying him. He was scared for her. He was reluctant to say, "I do." If he had not flatlined, that marriage would have been annulled!!!
I think he knew her motives. He hated Blake Carrington and knew she did too and was more than happy to bequeath his fortune to someone who'd use that wealth and power against Blake. He used her just as much as she did him.
I couldn't believe that Alexis' wedding gown was knee length - I knew it was the practical choice under the circumstances. The only other wedding gown that short I saw was my Mom's and she didn't have a deathbed wedding.
I have theory that Cecil did this himself to get mad cause he wanted to ruin Blake but he knew Alexis would be the one that could and he knew he was going to die so he wanted to leave everything to alexis
Watching this and a Dynasty blooper reel. One of the bloopers is from this scene where Lloyd Bochner as Cecil shows Joan Collins as Alexis the ring: Alexis: Oh, darling, what a piece of sh*bleep*. Cecil: It's more than you deserve.
are witnesses enough? Doesn't he need to sign the marriage certificate and have it registered? I mean this marriage is easily contested, no? or am I wrong?
She was acting what the part called for, over the top. Don't forget, she won a golden globe and was nominated twice for an emmy for best actress in a drama.
Of course she can. She conveys that anxiety when Cecil doesn't immediately answer he wants to marry her. She conveys her secret happiness when she smells the flowers when she is married. Then terror when he's about to die. And at the end, she conveys the character's devious pleasure that Cecil is now dead and she can take over Colbyco and destroy Blake, in that close up of her half smile.
one of the most ridiculous storylines in tv history...though it was stupid back then as a kid and 30yrs later as an adult....man was admitted related to a heart attack...doc allows a wedding to take place Cecil who is aware he has suffered a heart attack proceeds with this tomfoolery (fuck is the rush)...he marries alexis n 10 min later spews venom at his new bride..has a massive headache n dies.....hot mess...
.Y r u bothering me with nonsense???....2 ppl can look at the exact same pic, listen to the exact same song n each see, hear something different...neither OPINION is wrong or right....they are simply 2 different OPINIONS....B/c u disagree with an OPINION does not make it wrong....an OPINION is not right....an OPINION is not wrong....an OPINION is just that an OPINION...Take care, be well.
How to Become a Rich Widow, 101.
Interesting how Cecil used the word "expired". Same word the fortune teller used when she predicted Cecil's death.
She really did look beautiful in this scene. The color of her makeup suited her face perfectly. Not even the veil could mask her beauty.
The 1st time I know of a marriage and death certificate being filed the same damn day! 😂😂😂
WestJason9 heck yasss, only Alexis could pull that off, next😂😂😂😂😂😂✌🏾
I think he actually died before proper filing of the marriage certificate! The witnesses needed to sign and file it with the clerk! 👩🏽⚖️🤭 The marriage could have been challenged in real life! 🤔🤯
WOW!
Meet an old billionaire, marry him for a second, then inherit his BILLIONS!!
Oh gosh, life is so cruel to me!
It was a little longer than that. She met the "old billionaire" at the same time she met Blake--what made Cecil furious at Blake was that Blake "stole" Alexis from him.
Oh yes, First marry him then procure him an heartbreak...so I became Rich again
she's known him for most of her life and and in his case he's been in love with her since he met her decades ago.
I know right? 🤣🤣
I never thought of it before, but Cecil's plot for vengeance in marrying Alexis so as to leave her and Blake "at each others' throats" is what set up the main conflict for the rest of the series: Alexis/ColbyCo versus Blake/Denver-Carrington. Yeah. I got the feeling when I watched this scene that Cecil never really loved Alexis.
emerybayblues right the way they wrote it. that confused me. but then there's the episode where they are reading the will and they play the video tape of him and he says he's always been upset at Blake because Blake stole Alexis from him. sometimes the writing confuse me as to what was really going on
Cecil died knowing the blood bath he was stirring between Alexis and Blake but deep down inside Alexis still loved Blake no matter how much they fought
they were truly two peas in a pod. I wish we could have seen more of them before he passed at least for a few more episodes
The good old days when drama or melodrama, ha,ha kept you watching. Great plots, good looking sets and beautiful actresses and actors, an hours television to take you away from reality xxx
And the dramatic crescendo of that back ground music during the freeze frame and end credits!! Damn!!
the new dynasty really makes one appreciate the original.
vistaprime me too
OMG SERIOUSLY!!!
Cecil literally dies 2 minutes after saying "I do".
Probably the best non-end of season cliffhanger in Dynasty history.
This was my earliest and fist memory of Dynasty. After that I came a serious viewer as a young child.
I was a young child too when this aired lol I remember it, I just forgot the season it was lol
This was my first Dynasty scene, which i saw randomly as a child, and got hooked instantly forever !!
:-) great scene - thank you for posting it!!
Alexis, don't act like you didn't see dollar signs dancing around when that man flatlined!!! Lol
That nurse had a bit of attitude !!
let's face it alexis knew what she was doing by marrying Cecil on his deathbed, once he kicks the bucket she's filthy rich!
anthony biggs she was rich in her own right before she married cecil
anthony biggs she was rich in her own right before she married cecil
She had possibly some family monies and she had been getting from Blake's irrevocable trust fund 250K annually which even though it's not chump change it's not enough to effectively fight back against Blake's millions.
Such a long and happy marrage
😀
I could look at her magnificent face all day long...... God was she beautiful !
ToddR4824 ... Joan always was a goddess!😁
ToddR4824 ... Joan always was a goddess!😁
agreed 1000%
Are you serious???? She looked like a corpse with all that make-up, & what made her the ugliest was her nasty attitude in real life ...
Flenif2247 sweetheart, you have an opinion just as I do, and yes I met her in person in New York and her demeanor was BEYOND NASTY. Now, would you like to continue questioning me about MY OPINION in hopes of keeping me quiet with very little facts to back up my statement???
That must have beenb the shortest wedding in tv history.
This was a powerful moment when the two forces, the Carrington and the Colby clan merge, and this should have been the cliffhanger for season 2.
She had the nerve to wear white, really?
Can you think of a single thing Alexis *DIDN'T* have the nerve to do? :-D
It do take nerve........👄
Alexis would not have it any other way!
She couldn't wear red in the hospital lol
She had red dress during her last wedding to Sean Rowan.
And during wedding with Dex - the blue one.
Small continuity that I never noticed. When the scene starts Cecil is wearing pajamas, but when he flatlines he is wearing a hospital gown.
A rare mistake JC makes here: @ 3:49 when Cecil is starting to have his fatal heart attack she says (as usual) "Cecil" but @ 3:50 she uses the American pronounciation of "Seecil" - the way the rest of the cast pronounce his name.

Maybe you should write your own show Mr. Critic. since u can do so much better than Aaron Spelling.
u know it's just make believe, right? LOL
Eat your heart out, Meghan Markle 😂😂😂
She would be only at a level of an ex stenographer XD
this turned the devil loose. lol
She looks so much better in lighter makeup like this
Such an underrated Actress.
"Physician heal thy tounge". Necessary as it was Cecil's departure was a great loss and he was a great and in my view much missed character.
Joan is the Greatest.
Never Another Joan.
Cecil confronted Alexis about her reason for marrying him. He was scared for her. He was reluctant to say, "I do." If he had not flatlined, that marriage would have been annulled!!!
No he was pissed at her motives...She never loved him at all although he loved her!
Elizabeth Laughlin I’m screaming😂😂😂😂😂
I think he knew her motives. He hated Blake Carrington and knew she did too and was more than happy to bequeath his fortune to someone who'd use that wealth and power against Blake. He used her just as much as she did him.
Gee Alexis, who wears a wedding dress with much clevage in a hospital?
I kinda liked it. good acting Lioyd,it's a cook book.
The definition of EXTRA
I couldn't believe that Alexis' wedding gown was knee length - I knew it was the practical choice under the circumstances. The only other wedding gown that short I saw was my Mom's and she didn't have a deathbed wedding.
“Show me the money “.......Alexis
The most ridiculous wedding in Dynasty history.
The only kind of wedding I'd ever want
🤣🤣🤣
Alexis wearing white with a veil is like me being a size zero, NOT!!!!!!😎
Lloyd Bochner was 58 here so he wasn’t really an old man like most of the comments on this clip. John Forsythe was 64 when this was filmed.
Psh yeah! White really isn't an appropriate color for a woman who has been married before.
He's dead Jim!! ☠️
By next episode "The Will" Alexis Murell Carrington Colby was one of the most richest and powerful women in the world in the series.
Best scene!! 💋
Darling. The best camp. Ever
Joan Collins as Alexis is still the most beautiful bride of all time! ❤❤❤❤👠🔥💋💋🌹🌹🌹🌹🌹
Joan is more like 50 here
I have theory that Cecil did this himself to get mad cause he wanted to ruin Blake but he knew Alexis would be the one that could and he knew he was going to die so he wanted to leave everything to alexis
The music was just too much for him, poor man.
Marrying then being a widow holy shit
You can't shock a flat line.
Alexis knows how to pick them.
The making of Alexis 😅
Alexis is a boss!!
who was more evil out of the 2?
Watching this and a Dynasty blooper reel. One of the bloopers is from this scene where Lloyd Bochner as Cecil shows Joan Collins as Alexis the ring:
Alexis: Oh, darling, what a piece of sh*bleep*.
Cecil: It's more than you deserve.
is that Robert Clarke as the minister?
are witnesses enough? Doesn't he need to sign the marriage certificate and have it registered? I mean this marriage is easily contested, no? or am I wrong?
Alexis makes a beautiful bride
that nurse was not happy and her expression as the minister read the vows
Omg
Bring it back
God she is so pretty but the acting is a joke!!!
They forgot to say clear with the defibrillator. In those days?
So much drama 😂😂
she cannot act if her life depended upon it
She was acting what the part called for, over the top. Don't forget, she won a golden globe and was nominated twice for an emmy for best actress in a drama.
Of course she can. She conveys that anxiety when Cecil doesn't immediately answer he wants to marry her. She conveys her secret happiness when she smells the flowers when she is married. Wow really at the hospital

We're you watching Dynasty for realism??
.Y r u bothering me with nonsense???....2 ppl can look at the exact same pic, listen to the exact same song n each see, hear something different...neither OPINION is wrong or right....they are simply 2 different OPINIONS....B/c u disagree with an OPINION does not make it wrong....an OPINION is not right....an OPINION is not wrong....an OPINION is just that an OPINION...Take care, be well.
If he dies before the marriage is consummated, is it still legal?
They'd already consummated the marriage 😉
He EXPIRED!!!!
what season was this again? I forget lol
CreativityRules4Ever Definitely Season 2 👍👍. This should have been its ‘Cliffhanger’ !!
It's actually the third episode of Season 3, 'The Wedding'.
Poor Cecil
not very real!
CE-CIL....not CICIL
The mispronunciation is what really killed him.
It is not a mispronunciation. It is the British pronunciation of the name.
lol
Will this happen in the reboot? I wonder.
Probably not. Cecil is a different character. Mind you the new Dynasty really has perversed the originalinmany ways.
La viuda negra....
