Joan Collins is just phenomenal as Alexis and the way she always uses physicality to reinforce emotion and express character is incredible. Look how she greets Steven, by frenziedly stroking his face and hair as if she's about to devour him. And after Krystle hands him his baby she asserts her maternal superiority by firmly clasping his shoulder. Even when wracked by vulnerability and relief Alexis must still smother and possess, especially if it's her favourite child. Brilliant.
Not only did Steven get new face but he also got a new persona. Al Corley's Steven was sensitive, tormented, tortured soul. Jack Coleman's Steven was a robot.
I agree. The first Steven had depth, insecurity and something haunting and a bit unique. Jack Coleman was a cookie cutter daytime soap opera actor and brought all two dimensions of that to the role. He was never EVER convincing as a gay man.

Meaning Pamela Sue portrayed Fallon as the immature bratty spoiled young adult, and Emma portrayed Fallon as the character matured and grew up into a woman. Then the recasts of Adam and Amanda are just HORRID, AWFUL, and TERRIBLE!!! I just try to forget Adam and Amanda were recasted at all.......

He was extremely pissed off with the producers for it, and that's why he refused to do the reunion three years later, leading them to have to get Al Corley back (explain that plastic surgery away!).
i get the impression that pamela sue martin's fallon had better chemistry with al corley's steven, does anyone else see this? i guess it's because there wasn't much interaction between PSM's Fallon and Jack Coleman's Steven just before PSM left the series, i just felt the vibe was much different and it wasn't that close

when krystle was very worried about Blake Adam was very nice in that episode and when he first came in to the episode and the times Adam not nice is the side effects from drugs he used to take because he was unhappy.

The staff were not treated like servant slaves back then. They were respected also as human beings and sometimes as an extension to the family household. This is how the wealthy keep loyal and trustworthy staff in their home. Ofc, the staff would perform their required duties once the welcomed greetings were extended to Steven.

The audience was more wholesome overall in the 1980's. Most didn't think this was cheesy. Tbh, the world would be a better place maybe if some of that wholesomeness prevailed again. Just sayin.
Linda Evans was 38yrs when she was cast for the Krystal part in '81. This episode is in the 3rd season so Linda would have been 41yrs. Krystal was magnificent coming down the stairs considering she and Blake were about to complete the adoption of little Danny that Sammy Jo had agreed to.
