"Poor lonely Joseph, still the impotent voyeur". Of all Alexis' countless insults over the years this has to be one of the most devastating, cruel and brutal. And it's a measure of the sheer brilliance of season 2 that's its not directed at Blake or Krystle but at a relatively minor character. Alexis, Joan and season 2 are just sensational.
Yes, I totally agree... the shows earlier seasons, especially this with the entrance of Alexis, the writers really did a good job with not only the dialog but overall stories.
Perfect example of why experience and casting matter...Collins was brilliant in this role...The subtleties she displayed in this scene cannot be taught
This is one of my favourite ever Dynasty scenes. They are like a pair of vipers checking eachother out. Joan Collins early scenes and storylines were superb. The only women to come close to her are Donna Mills in Knots Landing and Zoe Lucker in Footballers Wives.
The actor when cast, told the producers that he didn’t want to have any scenes where he’s actually doing work. I guess that made Joseph so reserved and distant to everyone except for Blake and his two kids.

Even with the situation--multimillionaire oil barons and their families slugging it out--there was an emotional honesty to the early season scripts that was utterly and completely lacking in the later years.
I like that Joseph was able to strike a nerve in Alexis. She falters for about 3 seconds starting at 2:31, but she recovered her wit and cool very nicely.

really loved the heated banter between Joseph and Alexis! There was a scene with Alexis bringing a stuffed animal for Fallon's new born that is just classic!!
Totally agree. Early DYNASTY episodes had definetly hand crafted dialogues. Plus delicious performances (not so campy!). Note Joan theatre acting experience in Season 2 (+) and some in 3
Though she did him wrong, I would have loved to see her torment Ben after their divorce, the way that she did Blake. That would have made for excellent watching.
Poor pitiful Joseph …and Lee Begere ..neither is a match for Alexis or Joan Collins . She wiped the floor with him . I remember in season 3 she asked him if he still kept that scrapbook and to crawl back to the house …creep into his room and flip through it as he was boring her .
Initially, it was an obvious cryptic high society reference to Aristotle Onassis and his "wretchedly unhappy" wife Jackie -- but they later retconned it to Zack Powers (which makes it far less mysterious and resonant retroactively, unfortunately).
officially, there is little information about tolerating each other on the set of the series. however, it is worth mentioning, both mrs. bellwood and mr. bergere, who hated mrs. collins the most, even. it helped the production a lot anyway...
I am surprised he didn't call her Miss Morrell. Sounds like he knows ALL her 🍵. She was no longer Mrs. Carrington and truly had no power. That's why she eventually had to marry Cecil Colby.
She was also on Footballers Wives that some say was the inspiration for The Real Life Housewives Franchise. The Production Company Shed owned by Maureen "Chad" Chadwick, Eileen Gallacher and Ann McManus also was the driving force behind Bad Girls The Prison Drama (1999-2006) is a powerful Company in England. Another TV Creator is Sally Wainwright who created Happy Valley & Last Tango In Halifax that has been on Netflix and PBS. Sarah Lancanshire is one of The UK's Top Actresses.
