I'm a delivery captain south of Clearwater and would love to help out on any deliveries, no drama, no ego just love being on the water to mate or deck however I can help, best job in the world!!!
Sardines ok but I would rather have some buffalo wings or something else. To each his own. My dad always told me that there was two happy days in a boat owners adventure, the day that he buys the boat and the day that he sells the boat. And many repairs and a lot of money in between.
I hear ya John. I'd say I enjoy wings more for sure ... But they don't pack the healthy punch like sardines do. I've heard that saying and it's probably true. For me it's true because if I sold a boat, it means I have another in my sights lol
Repairs are sometimes more than what the boat is worth, but there's a lot of fun and enjoyment to be had in a boat that money can't buy... unless you rent the boat! 👍

that's just Trip. He's a good guy, super active high energy living life to the fullest. casts good attitude , doesnt seem too phased by challenges . if you can accept his go go go for who is he, he's got a healthy channel
So I was hanging out at Hardies Yatch Basin Miami River during the 2005 very active hurricane season, (the old man owner Dan Hardie, a friend, got a phone call ) Dan ask me if I wanted to make $500 for a hour or two. A dentist who kept his Yatch at Coconut Grove marina on the bay and a hurricane hole slip at Hardies was looking for someone to move his boat form the Grove to the Miami River (safe harbor). A hurricane I forget which one there were many that year was coming on and you can already feel the wind and rain coming on. As much as I like money I politely declined. Once the wind speed get to a certain number they lock down the bridges and that is it. Fact is If "IF" all went well there was plenty of time but, my not knowing what condition and up keep that boat had I felt that being up the creek with out a paddle or bridge opening somewhere on Biscayne bay or who know where stranded with not very many people willing or able to respond to get my azz off the boat if she became disabled wat not worth it for me. Nature don't care, if your in the wrong place at the right time she will beat you down. You all did the right thing. I was living on a 51 Thompson Trawler during Hurricane Andrew (stayed at my girl friend house) and I know even in a hurricane hole like the Miami River it is crazy scarry. Hank a buddy who lived on a 30 something sailboat at Hardies decided to stay. He later said it was the stupidest thing he had ever done. He was more scared that at any time in his life and he was a fighter pilot during Vietnam. Dude I guess all the Yachting changed you, you did not yell "trip dip" at the pool. LOL
Interesting story!!! I didn't yell Trip Dip at the pool as I was trying to be "professional" I guess lol I still yell it when the time is right, don't you worry! As for your story, if the owner could release me of all liability no matter what happened to the boat, I think I would have taken it on. He may have had nothing to lose knowing if the boat stayed where it was, it was toast. Then I would also have nothing to lose if things didn't work out. Oh yea, and as long as I could bring my camera along!!!!
@@TripSmith Living in Miami 1971 to 2014 and going to the Keys almost every weekend, I can tell you the people in the Keys are super chill. But I understand if you don't know it is best to be understated and not yell "trip dip". LOL. The thing with the dentist boat it was more a matter of getting stranded on the boat with no one willing and or able to get me off it and Biscayne bay is really big and can get really nasty in a regular summer storm never mind a Hurricane (I am talking possible death). I latter found out from Dan he went and got it to Hardies Basin himself. My buddy Hank during Hurricane Andre (cat 5 hurricane) had to go out in the cockpit of his sail boat and eat it in the middle of the storm to run the engine and put it in gear cause he feared the pilings or rope were going to give way, that was in the River considered safe harbor or a hurricane hole. When I was in my 20's working as a lab tech I worked 2 jobs for a year and a half to get the money to buy a boat to live on, which I did for 9.5 years and I have done a couple of kayak camping fishing trips though not as hard core as you but I have had a few adventures. I know you know it, but your doing the right thing cause life is be lived and experienced. That whole Yatch delivery thing looks cool, having run a 51' Thompson trawler I have thought about it but I never got a captains license cause the old man Dan marina owner said once you get a license anything that happens get's documented so unless you need it it's best not to go there. P.S. I found your vid looking up Deer Point Lake cause when I move do to PC. I got a little place on D. point. I have been up that way towards Econfina but maybe about 1/3 of the way cause the I figured the flats boat I was using might be to big and heavy after seeing your adventure Yeah! Keep it up your like a Les Stroud or Bear Grill only with more gear.
I don't know if I should cry or laugh about so much unprofessionalism. You willingly took a 2 million dollar boat out of a dock, knowing the steering was faulty, a lot of electronics did not work, you had AC problems, generator did function (dirty diesel), no depth meter, radar obviously also did not function, in other words, this boat was not seaworthy at all. If you would have ended up in need of support the insurance would have simply said: 'you are on your own'. The coast guard would have impounded the boat and the owners were left with solving the problem The seakeeper wasn't even spooled up, which takes about 45 min, so you just started it up and went for it. Airconditioning did not work properly, but still you sit with sweaty bodies on the chairs and couches. Nice going. Next time use a towel to sit on. Then of course we have all the loose items through the boat, which means one bad wave and everything would start flying through the boat. Ventilator was actually standing on the couch ! And there is of course the fuel burn on this boat. If you would simply throttle down to 10 kts the boat has an almost 1000 nm range, which means it would have taken you about 3 days to make it in one go, saving thousands of dollars on fuel. In fact you would have been arriving at roughly the same time as now. But hey, then you would need to have a radar and a capability of travelling at night and in order to have that the boat has to be in good condition, but it wasn't On top of that, I understand that you will sleep in the yacht, but again, this is not your property, my guess is you had no permission to let others on the boat, also film the property of the owners and put it on youtube. I think we can safely conclude that this is a great video of how NOT to do boat deliveries. In any case I would not hire you, I think I will go with the guys of Haven Yacht delivery if I need a yacht delivery. My advise to you guys: 'clean up your act, start behaving professionally and only take the boat out of its slip when it is seaworthy. If it has damage....repair the damage and then set off. If the owner does not want to repair the boat, leave the boat, it is as simple as that. Now you may start disliking what I wrote, but I do own a boat and videos like this keep us away from hiring a delivery crew.
