@@ECPP then why title your review as top 5 reasons not to buy it? If you liked the car and would buy one, then your title is ridiculous... 5 slightly annoying things is a better title
Wrong. I test drove one at a BMW drive event and liked it. Strong engine and good exhaust note. It’s a small SAV so there won’t be a lot of room in the rear. Get an X5 if you want rear leg room. Just turn the auto stop off. Cruise event in a X3 to show off the engine? What?
@@ECPP Oh GOD! Just dont embarras tthe X5 bud. I had the X5 E70 twin turbo diesel. Technology wise there is absolute no comparison. Comfort i would say the X5 is better but thats about it.
That large slab of plastic is actually better than most vehicles🤣 Couldn’t find anything substantial to complain about which says alot about the vehicle itself. Thinking about replacing my M240 or just picking up a slightly used X3 M40. Thanks for the video my guy.
So, the stop and go function does NOT cause "excess wear on the starter." Why? because the starter is beefed up big time, and when they first implemented this back in 2011 on the 5 series, it was one of the first things they covered. I would suspect this is also true for all modern vehicles that use the feature: they have ultra beefed up starters that would shame the starters of old. So no need to worry about that. The incidental upside to this is that, for those of us who turn it off permanently (i did), you basically have a starter that will never die, ever.
Solutions to the reasons... 1. Get Bimmercode and just turn it off. At least with German cars you can do that. 2. Take the plastic engine cover off. Won't matter. Turbocharger is mounted low. Unless you run the Pure800 or some other top mount which relocates the turbo... you won't really see it. Manifold and everything is plastic. There's really nothing to see. It's a modern car. There's no Nelson racing block in it. 3. Door could open up more. This one is annoying. 4. Program it to keep the valve open. If still not enough.... change the downpipe and it'll be much louder. 5. I have no idea what you are talking about with this one. Looks like any other exhaust even on more expensive cars. The specific tailpipe you looked in is the one that has the exhaust valve. The passenger side does not have the valve.
@@ECPP this is what hacks do. If you’re not confident in your own abilities dont try to trick your audience. You will get none of these people back. You should just delete these sorta dumb videos if you ever really want to review cars.

I think the Exhaust tips are awesome. At least BMW still puts real exhaust tips vs Audi, Benz & VW. Sound wise it’s not too bad in my opinion, for my wife it’s perfect but for someone like you or I. We would probably modify it. At the end it’s a great family SUV.

The most concerning of all is the fact the X3 does turn off on its own, really really dislike 👎 . Also, when you turn it off it seems as if the engine is still running, this along with a glitchy infotainment system. These would be my major concerns of the X3. Other than that the engine performs top tier as well as trans being tip top.

Also i find the sound perfect,in fact a tad to loud in the monrings until it warms up.
You are right about that stupid start/stop button that defaults back once the car is turned off. I would have liked slotted or drilled discs as well.
Absolutely beautiful. Amazing driving machine. I just bought the 2019 X3 m40i. I’m completely in love with it.
I’m thinking about getting one, how’s yours 3 years later?
@@audination1 still going great. I drive an abnormal amount for work and it hasn’t let me down. I recieved the car with 0 miles. In 3 years I have put 150k miles on it and it’s still doing well. Just have to keep up with the maintenance.
I love love love mine!
Spot on.
Thanks
Nitpicking - good in a way because nothing to worry about. But a bit click baity
This video is nothing short of a tutorial on “how to get smoked in your own comment section.”
I agree with you on the stop/start. Biggest piece of crap ever
Thanks Sean
This guy does not know any about car and should not review any thing about car.
And bz of that reasons not to buy that great car. )))). Thanks for vid.
You must be in Lethbridge lol 💨
Haha, no, but close
Your complaints apply to most modern cars.
so you would not buy an otherwise perfectly good SUV, just because of the engine cover for some reason?
maybe the door ajar sound is not to your liking either?
You can’t be serious. It’s a X3. Boys night out? More jewelry under the hood? Exhaust? Dude. Come on. This is weird.
Thanks
Bought this thing for my partner, it drives better a less plastic than my merc
Wow what a review, do you moan that your coffee is hot? your salad is cold? your shoes dont fit because your feet have grown?........................
Yes
If you don’t like the stop start turn it of.
Every time and it is distracting.
Why would u look into the exhaust pipe like that lol
guy should've been a proctologist.
I'd take this guy's list as seriously as his choice of facial hair.
Ouch
Upshifts are faster when you flick your wrist like that....racecar
Nice
Start stop is amazing future
Thanks for watching
You are definitely not a car guy... Go ride your tesla and stop complaining about this great car
Thanks for the view. As an owner of a BMW M5, Lamborghini Gallardo, Jag F Type, and BMW X5, I can see why you would say that. lol
“Save the globe” lol
Yes
Seriously... these are the top 5 reasons not to buy this vehicle? I generally enjoy your videos, but this one... leaves me wondering if I’ll watch any others.
All good Elliot, the car was actually so good that it was difficult to find solid issues. Time will tell though.
Then maybe you should re-title as, The Five Reasons to Buy a BMW X3 M40i and leave the review as is. The recalls were so minor and everything else you tried to demonstrate as being poor design didn’t appear as such... you made yourself appear biased and unwilling to say anything good about it. It was painful to watch.
Love your reviews with the exception of this one, still I respect your opinion. Not 1 reason not to purchase/Lease this vehicle. Everyone want more exhaust note until you don’t, again I respect your opinion and like your channel.
Stop nit Picking! Lol
Fair enough! I really did struggle to find a dislike on this vehicle. It really is that great.
I like your honesty and taste of attention to detail keep up the great videos.
For sure thanks for the positive comments. Do you have one of these ? They really are excellent overall.
You have not shown any serious reason to not buy this car, I have X1 and for me pressing the auto-off button when I'm switching on the engine is not a problem at all - at least is next to start button not like in VW etc. Engine cover - really:).
Thanks for watching, overall a fun vehicle so negatives are few.
You didn't say anything about your opinion about the new smart-key.
