I purchased the entire sound proofing kit and installed it
I did not change the muffler
The kit was a complete waste of money. It did not reduce the sound ,at all

I did my 2015 yesterday with the black flat panel foam insulation and used a rubber floor mat over the motor. WOW what a difference. huge difference!!!!! Exhaust next.

Great work. Awesome video. I need to get that muffler and insulate like you. I have to yell now to speak to wife when riding. Way to go

What year is yours? I just bought a 2021 EPS from a dealer but I haven't picked it up yet. Just wondering if they deadened it in later years.

    Dear Deer Don,
Great job - thanks for sharing your progress.
Have you performed any cab-bed-engine area quiet mods yet? Ive seen a few on the forums, however would ideally like to use modern, high-tech materials Vs. thick rubber, etc... as I've witnessed so far.
    thanks!

Thanks...and yes I have done some other soundproofing. I have used actual soundproofing materials. MLV "mass loaded vinyl" and "closed cell foam." This is hands down the quietest Viking out there...best thing I have done to it! Here's a link to the detailed soundproofing I have done. www.vikingforum.org/forum/yamaha-viking-how-diy-section/4738-how-make-your-viking-much-quieter-diy.html
      Enjoy!

Wear a full face helmet and try to talk while driving on DIRT! .. COMPLETE waste of time!! Drive line noise. Wind and road noise kills anything you are attempting to reduce. BUY A JEEP if you want Quite. :)

Very nice. I was very interested in knowing what kind of spare tire holder you have on there, that seems to have trailer hitch on it as well. Where can I get that?

I actually custom built that myself. I wish I had access to a shop...I'm sure I could sell them

Ebay...look for Flowmaster 7100. You will need to modify it to fit..here is a link to the Viking forum that will explain. Tons of info on here on other stuff as well

It is impossible to make a Viking quiet even with all the modifications. They are just so loud. Sold mine soon after I bought it.

Got it! Great sound work....any comments on the "potential of lean fuel burning" due to Viking owners wrapping their exhaust headers?? I understand the machine is already a "clean burner" which means it runs lean already from the assembly line... any ideas?

    • @deerdon1888
      @deerdon1888  10 років тому

As far a "lean burning" goes. These engines are designed run efficient and lean from the factory. This results in the header sometimes glowing red and producing quite a bit of heat. That is why some folks wrap their headers. The thought is to help keep the heat away from the rear diff. I used a heat shield to do the same thing...and it looks much better. go to www.vikingforum.org TONS of info about the Vikings
