as much as i hate these "pointing the finger at each other" videos, i love the fact that Yamaha slaps back at Polaris face for doing those stupid videos they do....go get'em yami
RC: I got a RANGE ROVER for working because it scans its terrain and adjusts the suspension height and differential stiffness for that terrain and don't forget it's amazing traction control!
From a Yamaha, Polaris and Kawasaki dealer take it from us, the belt drive system on Yamaha is far superior to any other system on the planet. Over 60 percent of UTV's sold in America are for the utility application which makes this Yamaha perfect for those applications. Hopefully Yamaha will continue forward with this and other machines that are more suited to sport use. Remember that displacement doesn't make a machine faster. Try to outrun a YFZ450R.
+Peter Politis I have had my Viking for over a year and it has never failed me . I live in the high desert of So. California with lots of steep climb areas as well as sand and winter mud holes with snow. I have 1500 miles on mine and I could not be more pleased. I don't know why everyone is bad-mouthing Yamahas on this thread.
My name is Russell Abernathy I’ve been a Harley-Davidson,Honda, Polaris , Yamaha dealer for 65 years I was the largest Polaris dealer in the nation for over 15 years . I can guarantee you that Polaris are junk compared to Yamaha we had no problems with Yamaha . We never replaced belts on Yamaha or had trouble with Honda and Yamaha . If your smart don’t buy Polaris they suck and Can Am isn’t much better
obviously, its a video made by Yamaha, watch one made by Polaris and it will make the Polaris look good. I am surprised in the power of this Viking, I really figured it would be slow, but looks on par with the 800 polaris
The Polaris system uses no diff locker, making it a simpler and easier to use system. It can also be engaged at any speed where the Yamaha bike has to be stopped. The Polaris system is a locked system so the use of a diff locker in the "real" world acts the same as the AWD system, which is locked.
Obviously a yami ad. Can we just say that Po and Ya both make a good utv? Nit picking only makes the reviews less valid. Just purchased a 14 800 vs yamaha rhino and have more people telling me I made a good choice and that Po beats yami in many ways mostly from a service/access perspective. I must say, that I have several yamaha products and not one is 'crap'. Too many political sentiments and not much actual experience from most who responded and offered opinions - pissing matches are not entertaining to most of us seeking good info.
There is a few problems with this video. First the Polaris On Demand AWD is a superior system because it requires no differential locker, it is a locked system which hints AWD therefore it is available on a Ranger not "unavailable on any Polaris." Second the EPS system from Polaris offers different levels of asist at different speeds, just at Yamahas. And third if the Viking has a 50mph top speed then I would have to see it beat a 800 Ranger in person to belive. Seems like a stetch.
Yamaha need to up their game. Having a single cylinder quad and utv as their flag ship doesn't cut it anymore. I'm a grizzly 700 owner and love it but I am seriously looking into the outlander 1000 as my next quad. Yamaha does have the best transmission and front diff though.
How do so many people think the Yamahas 4wd system is better than Polaris by the time your Yamaha starts to spin in 4x4 limited slip the Polaris's awd system has already locked in all for wheels and out of the hole hooking up to the yami because it lost its momentum because they had to stop to lock it in
Them saying that rangers only have 11.1 is only for the people that are clueless because it all depends on what setting of stiffness it is set on and which angle it is at because you can change that. I do like the yamaha 4wd and belt system better. I'd take a ranger 900 or 800 over the viking or rhino any day...just my opinion.
OK, so I must say first off my 2018 Viking was everything I wanted in a side-by-side because the engineering is generally the best in the business.... but after 2 years in the bush the poor design and decision making on OEM parts are starting to show through. It's common knowledge electric conduction motors in contact with water is not a good thing but the designers for the fan on the coolant radiator figured if they just put a drain nipple (because they couldn't make it water tight) at the bottom of the fan motor it would solve the problem. Thankfully, I installed a SPAL replacement and everything is rolling now... but Yamaha needs to work out those poor engineering choices that show up only later... when you're 80 miles in the woods with a blown thermostat..... Other than that, I'm a happy Yamaha Camper :)
@@prestonmcdowell1351 Certainly not. The Viking is exactly the SxS I was looking for, a mega torquey engine and an open cab design meant to tackle the toughest terrain at a comfortable pace. What I didn't want was one of those bat mobiles like the Razor... you know, the ability to go 100 KM/HR in a metal cage down a rural road acting like Mad Max. The way I see it, price/performance will always be an issue with OEM vendors but the ones' that survive overcome design flaws and move on. I hear Yamaha has solved the radiator fan problem in their newest models.... which means I heartily recommend Yamaha as the best designed and built side-by-side on the market.
Chris Baumgarten I had a Viking for a full day of riding, believe me, it's no Rhino. Quiet, smooth ride, powerful, and don't forget reliable. I wish I could afford one.
I like how Yamaha makes there vehicle sound so good. Try taking that thing through the trails and see how maneuverable that giant beast is. Also, they were showing that polaris in the mud mud hole stuck, why didn't they show he Yamaha in their? Yamaha will never take the sales of the ranger
Austin Phelan: fuck Land Rover took my Viking and gave me a discount price of $25 000 dollars for my Range Rover and the guy looked at me and said "Yamaha's feel like shit after you buy one of these" and wow was he right!
Here's why I'd go with the Ranger. The Ranger has turf mode, it won't destroy your lawn, or garden when turning...the Yamaha will destroy whatever you are trying to turn around on because Yamaha has yet to grasp the concept that having a permanently locked rear differential is a terrible idea in a work machine.
Had a polaris 900 xp and you couldnt get near a 1000lbs payload without destoying your belt. Or climb hardly any grade. And the suspension was junk. Sold it and won't go back. Will be buying a Viking when I save enough.

I was looking at other brands to see what new features were offered and seen this. I believe I will pick what has served me well in the past. I have owned Polaris machines since 1988 and 10 machines later still doing as they should. Just my two cents worth.
I just think Polaris stuff is cheap. For example on the Viking the bed is steel and I’m not kidding almost everything on the ranger is plastic where there is steel on the Viking.
@@finncampeau4922 we had a 20 16, 700 Viking. Good machine but the protectant on the metal bed peeled off in like a year of ownership. It’s starting to rust pretty bad so it had to get replaced. Here we are 8 years later and nothings changed. That 850 Wolverine engine in the Viking would be a home run.
Rhino vs Viking :)
Yama and Honda have been making the best equipment for years. No compassion for slacker equipment.

Nathan Caldwell yeah Viking or wolverine x4 is what I’m thinking bout.
Very Impressive. Has there been many changes since this came out in 2013?
a few but not 2 many they old dies but goodies
I have a 2020 I think they are more powerful and more attachments
the shorter wheel base and thinner Polaris will make it through all the tight trails while the vicking gets stuck
also didn't think of the rzr's now did you
Shockin Awesome: exactly why I have a Range Rover
Not fair to use a heavy duty 2in ratchet strap (rated for 10k lbs) when you used a cheap 1in strap on the yamaha

Polaris just doesn’t have experience making the best equipment. Yama Rocks !
And Honda bc the reliability

It would still lose
