Happy to hear you are loving the FX6. After having used the Canon C70 for about two months and comparing it head to head with my FX6 I have to say the FX6 is the better camera imo. Such an easy camera to get a pleasing image out of. And thanks to the extremely low rolling shutter the image feels cinematic. This fast rolling shutter produces a subtle difference in motion cadence which seems to remove that video-like motion that most cameras suffer from. As for the loose monitor, I can’t say that I have noticed this issue on my camera.
Regarding the EVF mount. When I made a comment about it at the store in NYC where there’s a demo unit which has the same floppy EVF mount, I was told that this is the issue with the first batch of the cameras. Apparently they were actually recalled because of that and other issues. A video from an Australian UA-camr released today seems to confirm the recall of the certain batch of FX6’s.
great info about the Viewfinder . I will for certain order the SONY fx 9 , both the mounting rods and the view finder, AND the loupe :) Me to used the FX89 for a whole fulltime movei, and am very satisfied with the flexibilities of the V.F in fx9 .

Possibly, but I don't like doing more in-depth reviews until I've spent a substantial amount of time with a camera. From a doc perspective alone, the FX6 will be much more versatile without a bunch of extra rigging.

But some reviews did mention about the usability side that a7siii is much versatile on that front, and I don't do work that requires timecode yet. Great video Rob, really interested in the FX6 as a documentary camera but the lack of IBIS and weight for handheld shooting is a bummer. Was thinking with a V-Lock battery and a Z-Cam Viewfinder shoulder rig setup would counteract the handheld jitters you flagged up - would be interested to hear your thoughts? Don't really want to get an FX9 because the form factor and specs of the FX6 are more appealing to me - plus the price difference.
Anything on the shoulder would definitely help take care of stabilization since it's not bound to your arms holding up the camera- it's when you're operating in front of your body where things might get a little tricky. I think they all serve a different purpose, I have another video releasing Monday comparing the three cameras. Just yesterday I was filming on rooftops and the FX6 was a perfect fit because it allowed me to be very nimble and had a lot of the pro features I'm accustomed to.
this made me want the a7siii over the fx6. Would love to see more side by sides with all these cameras, but not the low light stuff everyone posts, i want to see them compared in well lit talking head interviews.
They're very similar. The a7S definitely has more "crunch" to it, meaning that the toe of the curve is a little bit more compressed and has more contrast. I'll be posting some examples next week.
My FX6 monitor is not as loose as your seems to be. Mine is pretty stiff and does not flop around as badly as yours. You might want to call Sony about it and see if they can replace it.

I noticed also that these numbers seemed significantly off. I routinely achieve just under 3 hours of run time with the included BP-U35. I received a new BP-U70 yesterday and anticipate doubling that time. The Canon C70 got right around 3 hours with its included battery. So the Sony was slightly worst... but actually better if you consider capacity... The Canon includes a 3100mAh (45 Watt hours) battery vs the Sony’s 2320mAh (35 Watt hours) battery. In any case if your numbers are correct, then your batteries have reduced capacity. Did you test with the included BP-U35?... your video only mentions the older BP-U30

If you're constantly recording, runtimes will be lower. I usually find runtimes provided by the camera are optimistic.

That could very well be the case, my BPU batteries are quite old. I mainly have the BPU30s.
