Sadly my dad passed away a few months ago and I’ve inherited all off my dads carp fishing tackle so i am going to start carp fishing myself and I really enjoyed watching your video and learning how to fish so thanks for showing how to start and what I need very interesting
Sorry for your loss man life’s cruel sometimes, stay strong ! You won’t regret starting carp fishing it’s a great hobby aslong as you commit to it bro ! Best of luck ! Tight lines !
I have just got back into fishing after a 42 year hiatus, and whilst, as my son puts it, I am just going to be a maggot dangler I wanted to understand what carp fishing equipment is and how it’s used, my son is a massive carp fisherman and whilst he has been trying to explain everything I tend to forget about it quickly as I have the early stages of dementia, so hence watching videos to try and get it to stick in my mind, thanks for sharing your knowledge and experience, I really appreciate the time you have taken to explain some of the basics for me, and to save my son having to explain time and time again. As you can imagine fishing has changed so much since my last time on the bank, and the equipment available is daunting to say the least, for example, pole fishing was a new fangled concept last time out, and now when we go to tackle shops I am like a kid in a toy shop, and everything is so much more expensive, however I have been very lucky in that for my birthday in may this year (2021) my family, mostly my son, have bought me virtually everything I need, not just for maggot dangling but carp fishing as well. Thanks again for your videos, tight lines. 😀👍👍👍🇬🇧🏴
Thank you for your comment it's much appreciated. There are lots of gadgets these days I agree. I always just try to keep things as simple as possible because you can get lots in all the tackle out there. I have another channel about fishing which is called Phill Wyatt Fishing. Feel free to check it out as I do tutorial videos etc on that one. Good to see your getting back into fishing. It's just good to be out in the fresh air if anything else. Great for clearing the mind🙂 👍
@@PhillWyattProjects , I Will definitely check out your channel, tutorials are always a good way to go. My son took me to Willow Park Fisheries near my home in Farnborough Hampshire for my first dangle, I am also wheelchair dependent away from home and the staff reserved a peg for me, close to the shop and facilities and their cafe that deliver hot food to your peg, I actually caught 2 fish, a small bream and Rudd, but it wouldn’t matter if I hadn’t, like you said it was wonderful to be out in the fresh air, watching the wildlife, and having some really good father son time, and some SUN time, I burnt the tops of my ears 👂 lol, didn’t even realise until they started peeling, I have bought a new wide brimmed hat, unsurprisingly. Thanks again for your time and effort, subscribed and looking forward to my next tutorial. 😀👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍🇬🇧🏴
@@allandavis8201 I'm sorry Allan I have only just noticed your message! I've been doing more on my other channel recently and haven't had time to do much fishing. I hope to get back at it though this year! All the best!
Thanks fot that mate, best vid I've seen for beginners, usually people fly through at a rate of knots and when your new you haven't got a clue what they're talking about, that was spot on
I’m a bit of a beginner to fishing and this helped a lot I’m only 14 so most of the stuff people have said doesn’t make sense to me but your video helped me a lot and I understood everything thank u
Hello, I caught 2 carp yesterday on a dough balls. I took the white of a slice of bread and got it damp balled it up and placed on hook. My problem is I dont know what reel to use so I was told to use open faced reel and the bait is good bait. So now I'm useing open face today
This looks more like showing off your set up. I came expecting some info. When do I adjust drag. When should I flick the switch on reel. This just shows how much you need to even get going. Quite intimidating for beginners
In my opinion, if you want to catch carp safely I would say what I have is a basic set up although it depends how serious you are about doing it. A bait runner reel is essential so that the fish gets time to take the bait without pulling your rod into the water. You can then flick the switch and engage the front drag. This video is more about the gear you need. I could do a video about explaining the things you mentioned. I would put that on my main fishing channel Phill Wyatt Fishing. I do tutorial videos there.
Phill Wyatt Outdoors as soon as I commented I got to the part about the drag. I have started building my set up an have fallen for the carp tax but hopefully it's an investment and a start
@@FXCartel I would never recommend buying tackle that is not required or useful. All the things I use in the video I feel are essential for commercial Carp fishing so I hope it can help you out.
Yes you are correct. I have since been using an unhooking mat and larger net. I have a fishing channel called Phill Wyatt fishing. Feel free to check it out.

Hi Demitri, Congratulations on catching 2 Carp today! 👍 An open faced Reel sounds fine for what you are doing.
Wish I could post a picture of it on here my first big fish it was
@@demitrimarlin2463 Cool it's great to catch a big fish!

Hey, this may be a stupid question but is it possible to catch carp with just the bait on hook?
You can catch smaller carp like that although for the larger carp a hair rig set up is usually more effective with a better success rate of hook up.
How do you know where to put the weights ? Due to debris on the lake bed etc?
Hi, do you mean where to put them on the Line?
@@PhillWyattProjects Yes. How far up or down the line.
@@danpharo8643 Good question. There is no strict rule for this although I would put the weight within 30-40cm of the Hook.
Great video. But, should never fish without an unhooking mat, whatever the size. And your landing net is far too small.
Yes you are correct. I have since been using an unhooking mat and larger net. I have a fishing channel called Phill Wyatt fishing. Feel free to check it out.
Do you have links to these items?
Hi, not specifically although most of this stuff can be bought from eBay or Amazon
Take at 18:14 lol
I just checked and you know I never noticed that before 😂
Can u add subs to ure vids plz I am just gonna start fishing and my dads teaching and I need to take notes
I think you can turn on subtitles in your app
