Loved this! I'm somewhat of a margin specialist (I don't like long rods and casting long distances, so I use 6 ft Nash Scope Snides and rarely cast longer distances... with longer distances being about 40 or 50 meters at most), and I always specifically target either "paths" between the weeds or overhanging brush. This season I'm going to try raking the swim as well (because I also love catching tench, and I don't mind bream either), to make a perfect little spot to present my helicopter rig in a ball of pack bait. Just waiting for our curfew to be lifted over here in the Netherlands :)

As ever good advice. I’ve never been very patient when it comes to leading down. Perhaps that’s why it took me three years before I didn’t blank in France 😂 The tip about making a short cast and wetting the line before going long is a great tip 👍🏼 I would always when packing up do the longest cast I could possibly manage and wind the line hard back as I found that help at the beginning of my next session 🎣

I need to start using Distance sticks. Here in the USA it’s always blindly chucking at stuff but I feel some of the EU tricks would really up the average US carp anglers catch rate and sometimes comfort (bedchairs, Bivvy, ect). We think “UK” we think Boilies or even the hair rig. No one thinks distance sticks or marker lead to figure out what and where you are actually fishing. Lots of guys think method lead and packbait with corn is all you need but only catch small fish. Those of use slowly adapting “UK style” set ups are tracking down the bigger specimens session by session. Great video, lots of useful information. Cheers

The problem with the line bad-behaving after the stick measuring technique is lack of tension on the line when reeling in. You can easily correct it by aplying some tension with your fingers right before the reel as you reel in. I hope I explained myself correctly. This are very usefull videos, thanks a lot from Argentina!
