- Range Rover. 4x4 Adventure Stories.
A nostalgic view of my life in 4x4s and overland storytelling. This video was produced in 1999. Since then I have produced 12 4x4 VHS tapes, 16 DVD titles, 34 roadmaps, eight books, and six TV seasons. And I have built the 4xOverland (formally 4xforum) website. This is part-1 of the first 10 years of that journey.
Part-2: • Land Rover Defender Ra...

good times!!
Nice Rangie and nice Submariner
Hi thank you for sharing your experience and your personally Story.
My first contact with a Range Rover was in 1988.... i was 13 years old.
My father buyed this car for our company to towing heavy trailer...
since there i was great Fan from landrover.
when I was 18 , i made my driver lisence and my first car was a Audi 80, but not long.
With 19 i bought my first own Range Rover, and since there only Landrover.
Best regards....sorry for my terrible english.

Part twooooo please!!!!
Hi Andrew, i'm Sam from Kenya and a fan of your great 4x4 expedition videos.I'd like to begin touring out for adventures to discover and explore the remotest yet some of most beautiful scenes out here within the country. It is something I passionately dream to do when still young and full of energy. With your experience, I hope you'd give a rookie some advice on how to start planning (i.e. from owning a reliable used 4x4 vehicle to gadgets for use in actual trips ) for an adventure and especially when i''m on a rather tight budget.
Also, I see you changed your taste from owning Land rovers to Toyota land cruisers, explain why the shift, that is, if you wouldn't mind. Thanks
Boom!
Love this video. Was part 2 ever done?
Andrew how was the fuel economy in the V8 defender
Andrew, what are your thoughts when you look back on these videos. Fun fear exihiration? With the knowledge you had then, do you think you did well. would you repeat these journeys with the same vehicles??
Just wondering how my v8 D1 would be ?
colin ashby Those early days I proved that one does not need all the kit to have an amazing experience. I did have a thorough understanding of the mechanics of my vehicle. I was also young and taking risks might have been easier to do then. Yes I would do it all again, but this time with a fridge.
You're sitting next to what appears to be a Disco 1 mate. You like the Discos better?
Why did you get rid of her?
That crash was very unfortunate.
Overlanding in a lone Land Rover, out in the African plains...what could possibly go wrong?
Great vids! I'm learning a lot. I do however feel sad that in your great introduction on how you got into the 4X4 life it fails to hint even if a bit on the sad segregation that was going on in Southern Africa at the time as you were bubbling into a young man. We can't change our sad history Andrew but surely we can't will it away like it was all rosy, heck 90% of the population was deemed second class! A tinge of reality would have helped even if 20+ years later.
I'm sorry my friend, but If you want political commentary, then this isn't the place to find it. Just because I am white, doesn't mean that the regime wasn't my/our enemy too. And that goes for most of my white friends and colleagues. Not many people know this, but since you asked . . . I was threatened just because I walked in a mall with the wife of a banned political activist. I refused national service. I am not saying for a moment that our suffering could even come close to most of the population, but these stories do not and will not find a place on this channel. We (most of us) are sick and tired of the politics that confronts us day by day. Sometimes we just need a break from it. I may one day tell that story on my other channel: ua-cam.com/channels/ZgLQr8gCQQVxpghzZUndYA.html
