I'm on 188k miles 2011 4.4 TDV8 Autobiography love them do everything you ever need, +38 summer, -24 winter, snow, flooded areas, off road etc, I can put a 3 meter length in it, sit 5 people comfortably in it and a dog and the interior still looks new. Look after them maintenance wise and regular oil changes and they will look after you.
And yes adaptive cruise control isn't great, good on motorway long journeys but very hard on braking when someone pulls in front.

I have the same model and an old defender. Love them both for very different reasons. I also replaced all fluids on purchase, new brake lines, new secondary turbo , some various belts . I purchased for 10k and have spent an extra 5k making it ...well better. My view; you must maintain it and it will serve you well. The 4.4 is bullet proof. I recently drove from Cambridge to Falmouth (345 miles). It was a breeze and came in at 39 mpg at a constant 70mph. Awesome and pure luxury. Oh and its apparently amazing off road!

I have a 2011 AB Black, very rare, 170K both turbos have been replaced and the rear subframe has been rebuilt. For a 13 year old car, it’s brilliant. The 4.4 TDV8 will cruise at 70 MPH at 1400 RPM. I get 32-34 on a run. Throw AT tyres on them and get them off road, they are amazing. I have adaptive cruise, in the UK, with the state of driving, useless, go abroad they are impressive. Ignore the doubters and Toyota fan boys, get one, but service it, with genuine parts and they will be fine.

Well Chris, here i am sitting in the bath drinking crappy lager in Brisbane (yes thats Australia the land of the over priced poorly equipped Toyota LC lovers) watching your vid deciding which Land/Range Rover i should buy as my forever Sunday driver. Yes I know it will keep me out of the pub constantly fixing it but thats always the price of owning what you want rather than what is boring or part of the norm. There is a reason you still see these vehicles dropping oil, flashing warning lights and wondering if you will ever get the chance to put fuel in it again.

Hi, nice video thanks for sharing. Glad you are enjoying it. Im Into 4th year of L322 ownership. 2012 AB with 124k. Has depreciated alot in that time and too far in with preventative maintenance to get rid of it. Oil cooler looks like its weeping so next on the list. Always an enjoyable relaxing journey, just done 800mile round trip to the Lakes with no issues. 2nd turbo always gets a work out. Running GG AT3 tyres, no noise difference to the Scorpians they replaced. Not our daily driver, we have 2017 Skoda Superb 2.0 TDI for that, which actually has better rear legroom and bigger boot than the L322 and avgs 54mpg! Being 6ft 4 and putting the seat back in the L322 doesn't leave much room for the kids, but we still enjoy it for the long trips with great visibility and comfort. Let us know the fix for the tailgate! Cheers

Really enjoyed your warts & all honest & genuine assessment of the L322.
      Yep, the M57 is a straight-six 3.0L inline diesel,
      manufactured by Steyr
      (famous for 4×4 engineering
      - the transmission for the Panda 4×4 was designed & built by them)
      in Austria for BMW.
      ..
More info on the M57 engine:
The M57 won the 2.5-3.0 Liter category of the International Engine of the Year competition for 1999 through 2002, and again in 2009. Known for its robustness and impressive performance, the BMW M57 engine has garnered a dedicated following among enthusiasts and owners.

The original 2 door Range Rover is now highly sought after and at the time they managed to combine superb comparative performance with relative simplicity. So although thirsty they were durable and comfortable. But depreciation on everything since has just increased as complexity and unreliability increased. I would not buy one. And today it's now very difficult to consider any new vehicle. They are all increasingly terrible.

I had adaptive cruise control on my last car (VW Passat), it functioned perfectly well but had one bottom twitching foible. If i was chugging down the road with it set on cruise control and an insect, leaf etc crossed the path of the adaptive radar beam, the car slammed on the emergency brakes thinking the vehicle was inches from sudden impact. Though it didnt happen often, it did happen from time to time. Because of that potential underpants soiling event happening, I stopped using it.

P.S. I would take the first one back any day, although the fact a good one is worth a new one these days might be something to do with it, as it certainly hasn't got the toys of the new one.
I have 2016 l405 now as my daily, just over 100k miles now and no real problems that aren't usual wear and tear and I always address and check everything, as I' quite handy being able to do most things myself. Worse thing was a leak on windscreen caused my amp to fault and that how I discovered it. I stripped out the passenger side myself and fortunately dried out my amp and connectors and got away with not needing a new one. Got a new windscreen under insurance as it was chipped unrepairable Chinese shite anyway, insisting on OEM and fitted by autoglass. Guess the first owner, as its a one owner car got the windscreen done, who knows where and they sold him a cheapo one or he didnlt insist, as Autoglass said it was a terrible fitment and no surprise it was leaking.
Anyone complaining about issues with a Range Rover after100k miles, where they don't get it inspected, check full LR approved service history or specialist (who are actually better if renowned and been around a while) and address any issues as they happen or get non approved garages to fanny about with their cars, is having a fricken laugh, as is doing that with any car.

No doubt they are brilliant cars, but I suspect you would have a different opinion if every time you got in it there was an engine management light on showing a fault of one sort or another. This is one reason they are cheap, they are the most unreliable car on the road and this is a great shame as it is lovely to drive, some of the faults (air suspension) have been consistent since the very first models.. if only they would put more effort into solving this sort of recurring fault it would make all the difference.

Thanks for watching and commenting. I've had a Discovery 3 that the timing chain went after 3 years. But other than that all my Land Rovers have been reliable. I do a fair amount of miles too. They have general wear and tear. But I service on time and change worn parts as needed. If you do that, I found them to be great. But you're right, a Land Cruiser would potentially be more reliable. But some how, Land Rover products affects your soul... a Toyota just doesn't!

You must hate yourself owning a Range Rover and a Rolls. Serious wallet surgery needed on both those cars. Old Bentleys are in that hat too. I’ve driven a 1995 Continental S 1 of 37 cars made. Very cool but I saw the bill needed to put it right and it was more than the deposit for most houses 🤣🤣🤣

  • @dem0nsl4yer
    @dem0nsl4yer 3 місяці тому

Eh no, the L405 is I've had them all and multiple versions of each since the classic shape but I do like the L322 in terms of value for money if you buy a 100k plus one that has been looked after you shouldn't lose too much and if your keeping it then if you get 5 years out of it, you are righting it off in value terms anyway, unless it is a mint rare edition. The TD6 version of L322 I had was underpowered. The 3.6TDV8 was ok but I had to chip it. 4.4TDV8 is the best of them. I had the supercharged as well but quickly got fed up with that and didn't see that point of eating fuel in a car that wasn't that fast, albeit smoother than the diesel. The SC wasn't fast or handled well certainly compared to other cars I had at the time. Anything half fast like a Golf GTi chipped could whip it, so don't really see the point of big SUVs souped up like that and people are off their nut paying mad money for a Lambo Urus for example , which is basically my old RS6 in Lambo drag but slower! Anyway it's not what the RR's are for, its about the toys and comfort and sheer comfy driving experience v me going around in one of my modified cars, I've had many form 911 Turbo S's to GTR's to RS to M to AMG to Fezza...I was that petrol head. They however are all about the occasion, the sound, the handling and speed experience and not something you drive daily, albeit you could but wouldn't do your back or fillings much good. I used a few of mine on track days etc but not the Fezza's they were too valuable to be tracking any longer :-)
Two completely different perspectives but people that buy SVR's trying to get that form them and these body kits like Urban and Overfinch I used to do are all just a total waste of money and a con on an already massively depreciating car if you buy it new like I stupidly did a few of them. I wouldn't bother my a5rse. Autobiography model at least 4 years old and looked after FSH, one or few owners with all the toys is all you ever need!
I suppose these days it makes sense to go for the P4??e models as even more power than SDV8, less polluting, less tax and better MPG by far. So I am considering 2018 model onwards one of them if I change to get the 2018 upgrades but would need to drive it for a few days to see if I'd like the little 2l ingenium matched with batteries that are only plug in charge. MHEV diesel/petrol version may be best option?
