  • Here it is all in one episode. Setting timing per the Toyota factory service manual. Also, I set up the throttle body and TPS (throttle position sensor). Here are links to download all service manuals for the ae86 and 4age, as well as the electrical wiring diagrams. Enjoy.

    Toward the end of the video i mentioned I had issues setting my distributor to tdc (rotor pointing to #1 cyl. with crank @ TDC along with the cams lined up on the indicator marks on the timing plate) i recommend if you have to set your distributor, remove the distributor cap before you insert distribtor into place and hold the rotor from turning as you install the distributor into place....mine was giving me all kinds of issues.

    Hope you guys enjoy. At 11:15 of the video i made an error in the yellow text saying black lead to VTA...but it's actually the IDL terminal. I did it correct in the video but dont know why I put the text incorrect. Thanks.

    Watched another video that didn’t include the throttle plate spacing tip, so readjusted with your help and
    The difference is night and day, I can actually use high gears without brutal fuel kicks! Cheers man keep it up

    You're the man! I've been fiddling with this the past few days. Started watching your channel like a year and a half ago and bought a swapped sr5 in April. Your channel will be very handy

    Sweet video, I've been chasing down a high idle for a few months now. Its most likely a bad IACV valve, gonna block it off, then tune the tps and we should be good to go!

      Evan 86 Levin you may be able to clean the iacv valve really good and thorough and it may help.....good luck bro.

    I know it’s been a while, but when I do the first initial setup, I cannot get 1 with the new TPS. I only get a max of 0.11 and then OL. Using the old TPS, it goes to around .900, but I can never just get 1.
    The idle set screw is done exactly as you stated, so what could be wrong here?

    Very clear information! Thank you so much! But where did you get info about throttle plate adj. ? By the plate we have a hole (from idle speed valve) which bypassing plate and air going to intake manifold -- so shouldn't plate be fully closed?

      yeah i see where you're coming from. However, i got my info from jondee86 @ club4ag (he knows his stuff) and it works for me. You might give it a try with it fully closed and see if it makes any difference.?? Thanks for watching.

      Ok I just found the old thread on club4ag and he said it's to keep the throttle plate from wearing a groove into the throttle body. :)

      @@notnilc20 it makes sense , because i think in body I already get this groove. For this time I have same problem , error code 7 and 11 , I already tried so many times to adjust tps and timing , and still nothing :(

    I still have one question: my throttle stop screw is already maxed out and I still can't seem to pull my paper out, and I'm using the thinnest paper I could find lying around home. Should I just leave it at max then? Also, my Allen screw seems stuck to the nut (they both turn together, maybe that's why I can't turn it further) is that normal? Thanks man!

    • @notnilc20
      @notnilc20  3 роки тому +1

      They should be able to turn independently. Did you try adjusting it all the way the other way? Sorry, its been a couple years since I did this so I'm just going off memory and I've since sold the ae86.

      @@notnilc20 hey, thanks for the reply! Yes I did, I got it out first, see if I could get these two to separate but nothing. Very stuck... Is it possible to just leave it at max and adjust my TPS according to this setting? And then just adjust the idle with the idle screw on the top of the TB? What're your thoughts? Thanks again!

    • @notnilc20
      @notnilc20  3 роки тому +1

      @@maartenvanloon8586 Certainly worth a shot. As long as you can get that tps within spec so it allows the car into diagnostics mode, I don't see why not. But the only way to tell is to just do it. Good luck 👍!
