Those 350z Anniversary wheels are one of my favorite OEM Nissan wheel. So lucky you have those!
want to buy them lol, there for sale. 500 OBO.
Hey Guys! Links to the TODA timing belt, and diagrams for this job are in the description. Thanks for watching and subscribing it means so much to me. WE ARE GETTING CLOSE TO 2K!!!!!!!
Great job man. I'll need to tackle this on my 4AGE soon. Cheers.
Great job man, keep up the in depth how to's
Thank you will do!
Great video! I hated installing my cams/seals and doing T3 pulleys. Looking forward to the next one!
Same! I found using a socket the same size as the cam deal to press it in was the best thing to do. Actually what you don't see in the video is the next the day the cam seal blew out and I had to take it all back apart and buy new seals lol.
ohh man I love this video , nice to see some one taking pride in there cars. Music is great also 😆
Thank you so much, I really appreciate it! Glad I entertained someone today lol
The red on the timing belt looks super pleasing to the eyes. Great video, as always. Oh, will you be posting videos with the skyline?
Yes! Will have one up by the end of the week
Damn chase back at it again with another video
will have another one up by the end of the weekend too :) trying to upload more for you guys
+SKID KIDZ sick man
good job! 👌👍
me i have AE82 with 4age 16V ;)
keep it up man
Thanks man! I'll try!
In need of some help. Trying to set the timing on my 4AG but do not have the DIAGNOSIS box located on the passenger side firewall like your vehicle has. Could there be another location for me to set into DIAG mode? Do you know of any other way to go about setting the timing without it?
Heck yea man, this was a really good episode. I'm needing to put my 4A-GE in time and I've never done it before on any car so watching this helped a ton.
Couple of questions though, when you removed your cam gears and reinstalled them had you already put piston 1 at tom dead center and lined up the marks prior ? Reason I ask is, if you remove the cam gears at a random point in their rotation and when you reinstall them place them with the specific tic marks at the top wouldn't it make matters worse?
Thanks again for all the knowledge and help Chase!
Jeffrey Darwin there is a key way/pin on the cam gears so the worst you can do is get them off 180 degrees, but yes I also kept cylinder 1 at TDC. This is simply for ease of putting it back together. Best thing to do is take pictures or use a paint marker to mark where stuff is set. You could set the motor on TDC and then take pictures of the dots on the cam gears so you can match it up exactly as it was before. Also don't forget that a 16v 4age is a non interference motor so you can get things as far off as you like and you won't hurt anything internally. This makes it great to learn on so just dive in dude and it will all come as you go. This was the first time I had ever done a timing belt and was slightly scared as well but once you start you will see it's not that bad. Just take it slow and have fun!!
Thanks man I really appreciate it
I guess after hearing what happens to other motors with other enthusiasts it just makes me worry that I'll jack up my motor before I've really driven it a good bit.
Like if the timing is off and the piston is a bit off from TDC, would there be a chance that I start my motor that I could bend a valve ?
Worst case scenario, say the cam gears are 180
Jeffrey Darwin nope! Non interference means you can get the motor as far off as possible and things will never break. The valves can't possibly touch the piston on these motors UNLESS you are running higher lift cams or have a built motor with higher compression
Chase Hoffman hell yea thanks man I'm sorting through the wires of my harness where it crosses over the cam cover and lays next to the distributer. o2 sensor came disconnected and I've looked Top to bottom of the engine bay driver and passenger side and I'm not able to find the female connector for the o2 sensor. Found what I thought was the black wire for the wiring harness where the o2 would connect but, come to find out it's a black wire crimped to to the original color for the wire coming off the harness which is brown with a solid black stripe.
What tool did you use to hold the crankshaft pulley in place while removing the 17mm bolt?
Sarrus25 I broke the bolt loose and removed the crank pulley first. Then put every back together loosely and re timed the motor to TDC, then took it off for the final time. This just makes it easier if your by yourself by breaking a lot of the rust off and freeing things up. Don't forget you can put the car in gear and pull the E brake to keep the motor from moving as well, there is usually a lot of play in that though and will throw your motor out of time slightly. Hope that helps! Basically just take it apart and keep trying until you get it, it may take a few tries. Can't hurt anything!
hey man! whats your intro song? I dig it
lately - kojo a
it was rainin hella hard yesterday, that's why the garage door was closed
thats one sexy engine
Hell yeah it is!
My engine is so weird. I cant figure out whats wrong with it. When i set the bottom timing gear to tdc, my car misfire badly revving pass 5k. When I match the marking on the bottom gear with the nipple, it runs fine, but it doesnt rev pass 7k (one tooth off tdc). Any experience with this? High comp 4age with low comp everything else.
that is a really weird issue, it almost sounds like an electrical problem. What ECU is in the car? it might be the wrong one. your main coil could be bad too.
i ran both red top and blue top ecu. same problem. misfire when timing gear is set at TDC. i changed to new coils and everything. Been a year, still cant solve it. Right now im lining up the gear with the nipple so i dont misfire. Just suck that i cant rev it all the way when i do that. Thank for you help!
+Joey (RedXJoey) maybe it's best to take the font of the engine apart and just reset everything just to be safe. Because you can have your cam gears 180 degrees off. I left a good link in the description for how it's supposed to look.
Much respect and incredible work, idiot mechanics would of charged you a lot of cash and be careless dyi like you did is the best
is 4A-GE interference engine?
Non interference! Get it as off as possible and doesn't hurt anything. Of course only with stock stuff, upgrade the cams for more lift and it becomes an interference engine.
SKID KIDZ thats great, makes me want an 86 even more haha. Too bad they are so expensive in europe.
yeah it would probably be cheaper to import one from japan than to buy one in europe
Will you ever get an e36
ehhh i want one lol, maybe down the road. i like Japanese cars too much
+SKID KIDZ just to get another point of view on this I am not a fan. I owned one and never truly beat on it and all it did was cause nothing but trouble. Stick with 86's :)
Cressida?
Bmw
Raceboy5512YT No, I know what an e36 is... I was asking if he would do a Cressida
pls stop burping in ur vids not cool
shush loser
