    I'm going to be honest folks, I can hear the difference between the two...but I do not feel that it is that pronounced. They both sound phenomenal. There should be no shame whatsoever in opting for the more affordable of the two.

    All I did to my E1D was swap ebony bridge pins for unbleached bone. Looks and sounds great.

    Very good video, I think using the term pch instead of “1d” would have made it a little easier to follow.
    Still, very good and I appreciate it. I think I’m close to ordering an E1d

    The guitars sound amazing. In isolation, the PCH1 is a great sounding guitar and E1D sounds fantastic! The laminate construction has one great advantage, its tougher and can handle humidity fluctuations better. Amazing playing and review!

    1. Thanks for this spot on review!
    2. I literally got my E1D (from Reverb) yesterday! I love it.
    3. However...after listening to the sound of the PCH1-D I think I could have been satisfied with that guitar. Both of them are a million times better than I am.
    4. But...I'm glad I spent the extra money for the E1D. Its sound is, to my ear, just about perfect. (And I like the bare bones look and sound of the open pore design. Nothing fancy. They just set out to make the best sounding all solid wood guitar and they nailed it.) The tuners are smooth. The sound is so addictive/seductive that I prefer it to my former 1956 J-45. (And I'm finding that the E1D is easier to play than the J-45. That was a hoss.) And yes...the J-45 was super mellow, and a cannon when hammered, but it was just not balanced. I won't say that the E1D sounds like a D-18, but it sounds powerful and clean and can hold its own against anything in the right hands. (Not mine, LOL)
    5. However...having a PCH guitar vs an all solid wood guitar has its advantages. I've already had to buy another D'Addario humidi-pak for the E1D. And I turned on the room humidifier, that I'd turned off since I no longer have my J-45. And I bought a hard shell case so that the humidi-pak(s) can be more efficient. So when you take that away...unless you're a professional musician, or just have a true love for the rich overtones that the E1D provides, the PCH1D is unbeatable.
    6. In conclusion...BOTH of these guitars blow away the "entry level" guitar category.

    This must be of the best comparison videos out there. Good to know your thoughts on the difference in sound between the two. First-rate.

    Both these guitars are amazing. PCH-1D is bright and responsive, E1-D is fuller and more substantial. I almost walked out of the shop with the PCH but opted for the E1 model, only because they were running a sale at 20% off. Getting that much guitar for under $500 was too good an opportunity to pass up.

    I was really interrested in the pch om, but after this i must say, the E1D is fuller, better sounding, probably as you say worth the extra money, thanks good review!

      They are both great guitars for the money, but if you can spare the extra money then definitely!

    To be honest I think you would make any guitar sound beautiful ! Both sound stunning to me but that E1D is gorgeous. However, in the UK the price difference of over £200 is quite significant - thanks Brexit :(

    Superb demo video. I found much the same with the PCH1-OM and E1-OM. The PCH as beginner to intermediate guitars are superb value for money. E1 is the next step. What mic are you using to record these BTW?

    • @The_Guitarshop
      @The_Guitarshop  3 роки тому

      Thanks man! I used and MXL 2008 condenser mic. So not the fanciest mic, but it does the job really well!

    Very good review, and yes the E1D is a great guitar as all the E dreadnoughts, i have tried them all and found the PCH series good for beginners but not for advanced players.
    While i am writing this i am waiting on my E1SS LTD that i ordered in Germany, no longer available in Holland, i was lucky to find a shop that still had one in the classic finish, it's my second Eastman, they are fantastic guitars!

      Eastman E Guitars are really good quality for the price that you are paying indeed! PCH is definitely for the intermediate beginner, but still a great guitar to start out with nonetheless! Great to hear you liked the review ;)

    Bone saddle.pegs & nut helps but the main sound difference comes from solid back & sides compared to Laminate , its not all about the top & voicing

    • @borojammin6509
      @borojammin6509 2 роки тому

      I agree. BTW, per the Eastman website, the PCH1-D comes with a bone nut and saddle. Changing the plastic bridge pins to ebony (Taylor) costs about $10. The difference in tone is due to the solid wood body, not the nut, saddle and pins.

      @@borojammin6509 saying that.. ive got verious vintage japanese Dreads that sound amazing which are both soild & laminated construction Tama, yamaki joodee, solid tops only & solid wood
      Yairi's ect.
      My E1D is a great guitar for the money.. clear as a bell on the high notes.. only negative is its alittle lite on the bottom End
      Tone.. this may mellow with time.

    well I disagree some vintage and new Martins sound best with plastic pins, but for that price its a nice D-18 style
