    I have just bought the non cutaway PCH without electronics, unbelievable quality and playability for the price, extremely happy !

    I just bought one. Never owned an Eastman. Outstanding quality appointments like a bone nut and saddle etc…However interestingly enough my Electronics appear to be LR Baggs. They look totally different than the one you showed. Really great playing by the way!

    C-cutaway
    Also, regarding the electronics- They are active. The 9-volt battery is in a pouch velcroed inside the soundhole under the neck.
    These are a great value guitar. Good review.

    Good score man! Much deserved. Can't wait to hear more with this guitar... possibly a comparison against your Martin?

    • @AlexPriceMusician
      @AlexPriceMusician  5 років тому +2

      That would be interesting! They're different body styles entirely but comparing two great guitars at different price points I think could help give the Eastman a point of reference. Like - how far does a $400 guitar get you when you're comparing the sound and build quality to something much more expensive?

    Great review, the PCH1-GACE seems like a good acoustic guitar though I was wondering if you have tried a Yamaha APX600, they are around the same price, which one would you prefer ?

    I thought you might try the Tone control in the Middle Position.
    I found some reasonably priced Luthier tools from BangGood on AliExpress. I'm going to dip my hands in those waters. Because, as you've recently discovered, it's not easy to find someone to do good quality work on frets.
    I'm going to see if I can fix my Epiphone Jazz Box one more time the right way. Since I probably won't be buying a new guitar until August.
    Also, would have liked to hear a mixed combination of pickup and mic'd up together.
    Thanks!

      I'll keep your suggestion in mind for future videos. There will be many more with this Eastman soon.
      Let me know how it all goes for you! If I had to do it again, I would've just bought the tools and tried the job myself. No way I could've done worse than the Guitar Center repairman. Which Epiphone did you get?

    • @bullwhipjohnson8247

    Seems like this model is one of the best "bang for buck" guitars out there. I´m torn between your guitar or the Harley Benton CL41 acoustic guitar. Which would you choose?

    • @AlexPriceMusician
      @AlexPriceMusician  4 роки тому +1

      I don’t have any experience with the Harley Benton so I can’t speak for it. I always recommend the Eastman PCH series to anyone looking for an affordable acoustic guitar and I know that everyone has been happy with it

    This is an excellent review (wonderful playing too) - thank you. How does the guitar handle lower tunings?

    • @AlexPriceMusician
      @AlexPriceMusician  4 роки тому +2

      Thank you! I haven't tried lower tunings myself but it does resonate well in the bass frequencies and retains plenty of clarity. I would bet you could go down to baritone tuning with 15 gauge strings and it would still work well.
      The piezo pickup just by nature will not have an issue reproducing what it is given.

    Love the playing! I bought a PCH OM model. Mine came with really high action. Did you have any issues with that? Other than that it sustains forever and worth every penny.

    • @AlexPriceMusician
      @AlexPriceMusician  4 роки тому +3

      An easy thing to fix! Sometimes changes in humidity and temperature can affect the neck of the guitar.
      The first thing you should do is look down the length of the neck and see if it's straight or not. If it has a bend to it, you're going to want to do a truss rod adjustment first to see if that fixes it.
      If the neck is straight and there's still really high action, you can file down the bottom of the saddle to lower the strings a bit.
      There are lots of good resources online to learn how to do this work yourself. Work slowly and carefully and you'll have learned some great skills for the future. Don't adjust the truss rod more than a 1/4 turn at a time and you'll be golden.

    • @AlexPriceMusician
      @AlexPriceMusician  4 роки тому +1

      Randall Swanson I personally think that’s ridiculous if that’s truly the case with Martin. A truss rod is meant to be used and is a very simple procedure anyone can do themself. I adjust my HD-28 all the time. No need to take it to a tech for that. I haven’t heard any such thing with Eastman.

    • @mikepretorius6350
      @mikepretorius6350 2 роки тому +1

      mine had slightly high action at the 12 th fret, took me 5 min to sand the Bridge nut down, be careful though, if you are not sure visit a luthier, nut at the Headstock is slightly high, also an easy fix providing you know what to do, beautiful guitar, enjoy

    I really want one of these just wondering how they play? Because I've had mid range guitars before and they can sound lovely but can be a pig to play sometimes

    • @AlexPriceMusician
      @AlexPriceMusician  5 років тому +1

      TheSonic1367 I understand that completely. The Eastman doesn’t feel like my high end Martin does, but it’s not bad at all - in fact, way better than other guitars in this price range. The truss rod works great and I think it’ll be a reliable guitar. I’m planning to do another follow up video after about a year of owning it.

      @@AlexPriceMusician thanks so much for replying, nothing quite feels like a decent martin tbf, I've got a martin D 28 myself which is amazing but I just don't wanna take it round the country doing gigs as I'm hoping it will be part of my retirement fund if I make it that far, so I just want something that I won't mind knocking about.
      Definitely will be putting the eastman in my maybe list

      @@sugarlife485 Maybe one of the more expensive Eastmans? Or you could upgrade the pickup in this one if you don't like it. The guitar itself is really solid and sounds great acoustically.
      I love my HD28 and was in the same situation. I had a piezo pickup installed in it but now that I have this Eastman I am considering having it taken out. I might make my HD28 fully acoustic again and put that same pickup in the Eastman.
