  • Off we go, trout fishing on a balmy 17° winters day.
I had some great success that day fishing some bladed spinners but not so much luck with the soft baits. Fish can be very picky at times and it pays to try a range of different lures to entice a take. My mate landed a nice sized sea run brown trout. It was pretty skinny and lacking some condition, hopefully that same fish has gained some weight and will be ready for the pickings come spring.

lol...nice Trout caught by Stan though he's hardly an excitement machine. And he took a while to unhook the fish once you'd landed it too. Good commentary & content fella. Cheers.

Hi Nick, The Ashley doesn't fish too well in the peak summer period as the flow is very low and often the water has discoloured in certain areas close to the mouth. The upper reaches still hold a better amount of water. Cheers
