How many times did Don get to ride the original Bat? I wasn't tall enough yet, but I remember waiting with my Mom while my Dad rode it since it happened to actually be open that day.
Cutting the pay is not going to work out for them. Me being a returner to kings island for my 10th season now and if I were to find out that my pay is being cut by 25%, I would not return. This drastic pay cut is going to significantly impact their operations of rides being open and food/drink stands being open as well. It’s bad enough seeing rides understaffed. To have the bare minimum of people operating a job meant to have like 4 or so more people than what they actually staff is insane. It’s exhausting on supervisors and it creates a lack of training getting done because places are just not staffed enough to run the rides or stands properly, let alone to get someone trained. Nobody is gonna wanna work in not so great conditions for pay that doesn’t even seem suitable for the job they are doing.
Yes cutting the pay is not good. However what they are cutting is the extra "covid pay" that was implemented when the parks reopened post covid. Anyone that expected that to stay around forever is delusional. They are lucky it was still being paid 5 years post pandemic.
Yeah it’s almost like it would have been better if they did this after 2020 or 2021. That would probably feel more like taking Covid pay away rather than feeling just like a pay cut. I bet a lot of the people there didn’t even work there during Covid at this point.
@ I’m happy you two worked it out then, been following Don’s journalism for years and really appreciate Ryan’s insight, glad to see the train still chugging.
Don has such amazing and vivid memories!! I wish I could remember what I did last year... 😮😅
