Great episode guys. I was that “enthusiast” at the office who recommended a department event at my home park as an idea. Our events committee liked the idea and went with it. They said the group events/catering contact that helped them plan it was fantastic. She was so excited about our event and the possibilities that it rubbed off on everyone. It was a super hot day, but we all had a great time since there really was something to do for everyone, including lounging around a shady area, water park, shows and rides. We had our own picnic pavilion and since some sort of team building was mandatory, the park planned a scavenger hunt that definitely brought out some competition. The one thing that would have made it even better at the time was a skip the line option given it was in peak season. I’m sure we would have worked in Fast Lane had it existed at the time.

@TT_STORY. - I have an experience with this. Back in the late 90s, I drove four hours up there only to get to the gate and have them tell me the park was closed. It was up in August I think. I could see the rides were running, etc... and was like dude I drove four hours up here... I'm looking at the rides running and you're telling me you are closed? Then he tells me it's GE day. He went on to explain general electric had bought out the park for the day. I was not happy lol.... So I asked for a supervisor, the guy comes out and I explain to him that I just drove four hours and was pissed. (A real national lampoons vacation moment 😂) .. in the end, they sold me a ticket and told me to try not to get in the way of all the GE folks.... It started as my worst ever trip to KI, but ended up the best trip to kings island I ever had lol.

Family coaster is the new marketing term if you ask me. You can throw family coaster on yesteryear's statistical record breakers. Heck, people call Orion a family giga, tell that to 1999 and watch everyone gasp. By today's standards, Vortex very well might be considered a family coaster if still standing. Maybe that is a bit dramatic but I think this is another spoke on the same wheel of the orion-giga talk we've had a few times now on here. We just have to wait and ride when the next coaster is built. Expectations don't denote preference and that was a valuable lesson I learned when my parents taught me "expect no" when asking for something. I set my expectations low for everything to maximize the joy of the experience.

I was a Six Flags passholder for several non-consecutive years (each separated by 2 to 3 year break periods). I am a Cedar Point home park/old Cedar Fair (25+ year) passholder. I only went to the Six Flags Great America park as my 6F park using the pass. On the many trips there , I enjoyed that park about as well as Cedar Point and Kings Island . From the video I assume that this ride is in the New Orlean's/Mardigras section of the park. I look forward to visiting there again and riding this coaster. I do not have a legacy 2025 Six Flags pass, but have renewed my "old Cedar Fair" Prestige pass with all parks access. Although I could return in 2025 to Great America with my current pass setup, I will likely wait until 2026 (or later) to make that return trip to the 6FGA park, until they resolve the dining plan, drink plan, VIP access and Single-use Fast Lane Plus issues between the CF and 6F legacy parks.

Are you sure you did that conversion right? I know it was a week ago, but it’s $294 today and it doesn’t look like the conversion rate has changed much since then.

I hear the rws type of group will replace some of the entertainment. And I would rather have more of haunt and winterfest than May days. I'm not sure where you were but winterfest during the week was slammed except the rain days. On Thursday after Christmas was as busy as a haunt day parking was gate to water Park.

I think closing before dark hurts because night rides on the beast and diamondback and mystic timbers is a big thing that is a big attraction for kings island

Don, Do you think before the merger, Six Flags and Cedar Fair were both in trouble? Do you think this merger was a bad idea for Cedar Fair? I’m just curious if these companies are investing 2 billion and have the money, why all the budget cuts?

Nervous for this season. I live for KI but daughter is on the fence. She likes family coasters but not the big ones yet. Without good shows, if she doesn't take to big coasters this year - we'll probably just do Zoombizi Bay and a couple trips to Dollywood... so I'm holding my breath for shows...

It's strange that Carowinds does a much better job of using its entertainment venues than Kings Island. I scratched my head when they started using the long dormant palladium last season for a music festival of classic rock bands. Apparently older guest loved it, and showed up. Carowinds has a Halloween and Winterfest parade. Why can't other parks in the chain duplicated this to fill some of the void in the schedule?

I renewed late for the first time this year in January and realized its only 5 month easy payments.... usually I renew in August or September and its 12 easy payments. Since my wife and I get the passes, dining, drinks and all season fast lane it ended up being about double more than what Im used to spending for the 12 months. Kinda hate that they do that

Once we know a new coaster is coming via the Six flags plan released a few months ago. When do you think we could see an announcement from KI about it. Do you think we will see an announcement from KI in the park? Do you think we could get a set location this year?

As of yesterday they did announce passholder preview day for April 18th from 12-9pm

No changing trains, please. PTCs have that certain nostalgia factor. If anything, keep dividers and put back buzz bars? Wishful thinking, I know 😅 It seems like every retrofit with Millennium Flyers and especially Timberliners, didn’t make the ride any better and in some instances, worse (Wildcat at Hershey, Wildcat at Lake Compounce, Gwazi, Thunder Coaster at Tusenfryd, Hades, and the aborted attempt to put Timberliners on The Voyage after a season of testing during the 2010 season, as a few examples)

I'm just surprised that the 4 bench to 3 bench modification was done in house. I would have thought that they would have just bought new trains. Even more surprising is that all these years later they never decided it necessary to re-build the queue house loading lanes to align with the 3 bench rolling stock.

PTC trains are so classic and synonymous with wood coasters. With Gravity Group doing recent work on The Beast Timberliners would make sense, even though I have never ridden a Timberliner train. The killer on PTC trains are the seat dividers. The restraints don't bother me though I remember the buzz bars. PTC needs to try to design a lighter train.

I hope whoever's idea it was to handle the closures the way they were this year was FIRED! That is NOT the way you treat your loyal park guests.

I’d love to see The Beast on Millennium Flyers

I think now more than ever, your advice to wait until last minute to buy your annual pass is very good advice. I hadn't planned on buying one for 2025... But then the desire to go to haunt 2024 suckered me in last minute, and I figured it was smarter to go ahead and get the 2025 pass than just buy the day ticket to go to haunt a couple times... So I did it. And I already regret it. I definitely won't be getting one for 2026, unless by some miracle we learn the 2026 attraction is gonna be a lot bigger and better than we think.. I drive four hours one way to go the park... And I buy the pass... Spend the gas and hotel to go at least 6 or 8 times per year... And every single year I feel less appreciated, and like I'm getting less and less for my money. Honestly I think this year I bought it more for 2024 haunt, and cedar point and some of the other cedar fair parks this year... I may not go to kings island more than once if at all in 2025. I'll be spending that money for a different park, like holiday world or Dollywood for 2026. I just feel like kings island cares less about what we want, and more about how little they can get by with giving us. It's been that way a few years, and it's only getting worse. The park closing earlier for more of the year, less daily operation, weaker and weaker ride additions , less focus on guest experience and more focus in financially milking us to death. It' just doesn't feel like the same park it used to be. It looks the same, it's got the same name, but it sure doesn't feel the same. Just my personal opinion.

I remember!!! I was riding during those years! I remember the little lake that surrounded the station. I also remember riding right after rope drop and they would run the ride with all trims wide open. Ahhh…those were the days. 😊

Question - I currently have the 2025 Kings Dominion Gold Pass, with the 2025 All Park Add-on. So - last year (2024) - I had the same thing - the 2024 Kings Dominion Gold Pass with the 2024 All Park Add-on. When I was at Cedar Point last summer - I was able to purchase the All Season, All Park Fast Lane for their then price of $999.00. Now - looking at Canada's Wonderland - under their Fast Lane on their web site - under Season Pass Fast Lane Plus - (which for just Canada's Wonderland - their Season Pass Fast Lane Plus is $599 - note - that is ONLY for their Gold All Season Pass Upgrade. If you hit the Buy Now button, - THEN you get the option to also purchase the All Season - All Park Fast Lane - which is again for 2025 - $999. (looks like the $999 All Season / All Park Fast Lane is $999 chain wide). Doing the Canadian to US Conversion as of this posting - the US Conversion price for the All Season / All Park Fast Lane drops down to $692.45 - a $306.45 savings!!! So - do you think - I would have a problem, since I already have the KD Gold Pass / All Park Pass Upgrade - that I would have an issue in getting and using the All Park Fast Lane from Canada and using it at the US parks? (My intuition says - that there wouldn't be any problems - since last year, I did the All Park Fast Lane Add On to my KD Gold / All Park Pass at Cedar Point, and was able to use the All Park Fast Lane at Kings Island last year, as well as my home park of KD.). Let me know what you guys think! Paying $692.45 is a lot better than paying $999! Gary

We bought our 2019 platinum (called at the time) passes out of Canada and had ZERO troubles processing it and using it at the other CF parks. We saved over $300 total for two passes. It’s a gem of a place! I hope to get back there this year with the APP. This year we shopped around for a gold pass/APP after taking a year off during the new changes to the passes. My 2024 gold pass is actually from CP because it was cheaper at the time we were purchasing by about $30 per pass.

I really wish it was Kings Island that went to Herchend instead of KK

PTC trains are fine with buzz bars, but the ones with the bars we have now are terrible. If the park wants us to suffer with restraints that aren't buzz bars, then millennium flyers would be a great improvement over the PTC trains.

The exchange rate is crazy strong. Buy EVERYTHING from CW. Even with the higher tax, you'll save $100's!

The only works at Legacy Cedar Fair parks... The season passes for Legacy Six Flags parks require you to activate at the home park you select by visiting that park. The terms on their site state that.

Now one thing to keep in mind, when you buy at another park. Your local park loses out on those sales and will get a potentially reduced budget, as sales and attendance matter. Where you buy your pass is what park gets credit for that purchase, and not your home park if you choose not to buy a pass or etc at your home park.

Don, I'm sorry, but the Beast is not the ride that KI can use as "that" coaster. Sorry, but it's almost 50. You can't ride the coat tails of the Beast forever. And Diamondback, and Banshee are both better than the Beast. So is Mystic Timbers. The park didn't try and make a "that" coaster with Dback, or Banshee. Then Orion? Why are they surprised that they didn't get a headline coaster, when the last 3 thrill coasters came from the least "thrilling" company in B&M. Now, I am NOT bad mouthing B&M. I love their rides. Both Dback, and Banshee are chefs kiss. Kings Island needs a ride from Intamin, (multi launch) or Mack (extreme spinner) or a Vekoma thrill (Bermuda Blitz like Lech Coaster). B&M will never deliver another ride that's better or as good as Fury 325. None of them are whippy, and thrilling anymore. B&M is the graceful, smooth company. And that's OK. Sorry for the rant, but no. The Beast is not the parks headline attraction.

I went last year for the first time for Beast and to get that famed night ride. But Im coming back this year for Diamondback.

To me, I believe people should decide where they take their stand and stick to it, but it's one or the other: support your home park, make sure you spend a cetain amount per visit and expect good investments, or don't do any of that. Because to support Canada's Wonderland and then complain about the mediocre investments, well... that is the major issue KI and their regulars will have in the coming years. It was so silly of people to buy canadas wonderland passes and wonder why they couldnt attend CP passholder preview. Dude, you gave your money to another park and are sticking your hand out to your home park! Pick one or the other, because that is asinine.
