I've been going to Cedar Point since 1970. I remember all of these rides! The Wild Cat was my first (of many) roller coasters .... thanks for the memories!
Cedar Point was a mandatory place to go for summer vacation. Imagine, the Blue Streak is still running. And in May 2024 it will turn 60. I recall putting coins in our pockets to see where they fell. CP is certainly a fun place and always has top notch rides.
I too started in 1973 at age 4. I miss the way CP used to be more family oriented. Yes coasters drawn adrenaline freaks but some of us like a even mix...that is gone now.
Disaster Transport I loved so much. The wait in line was just the coolest with the parts and the cargo bay. So so atmospheric. Also great to get out of the summer heat!
I loved that ride! Well, the ride itself is not as memorable as that sweet furistic glowy dark theme... And yeah, waiting in line was cool with the looks, sounds and ambient music. I miss it
Prior to Disaster Transport it was Avalanche Run. Same ride but without the building around it. That was one of my favorites as a youngster. They enclosed it because sand from the beach was getting blown in and would clog the "track" forcing the ride to shut down.
For god sakes "Cedar point" please don't ever mess with Blue Streak. I love it's beautiful greeting as you drive down the causeway getting close to the park and it,s the most traditional family-friendly thrilling Roller coaster in the park. Although I've ridden every major roller coaster since the early eighties at cedar point.( I got to catch up with three new roller coasters there though)
I agree! For its size, especially compared to all the behemoths in the park, Blue Streak packs a great punch. I lived in Cleveland for three years and got to Cedar Point 2-3 times each year. Blue Streak was always a must ride.
It could use some love. Could use a full retrack, and some paint. Thankfully, it's holding strong as the only wood coaster at the park currently. They should really address that as well. Take out mine ride , and call GCI.
Oh man, the nostalgia. I've ridden most of these, as a kid Disaster Transport was my favorite ride there. Top Thrill was cool because it was the closest one could get to the feeling of being shot off an aircraft carrier without joining the Navy. I do remember Mean Streak being a bit rough and getting jostled around quite a bit compared to other coasters.
I worked at Cedar Point for 3 summers and it was the best job of my life! It comes with the typical work bs, but for some reason I could handle the environment better. It was also my first job ever!
Disaster Transport was such a good ride. That would always be the mid day ride to cool down. I went on Demon Drop once. You could never get me on that thing after that one time.
When I was 8 in 1976 I was too short to ride “the big kid rides” with my older brother and sister. My parents left me at the turnpike cars, so from late morning until dark I drove those cars around that track. Fast foward to the 90’s and raising two kids of my own….my wife and I would pack a massive picnic lunch and grill burgers and dogs at the pavilion right next to the blue streak. Great memories for generations at Cedar Point.
That brought back a ton of memories. I worked there summer of 81while in college. FUN job and we got to play in the park for free on our days off. Once I had kids and they reached 4' tall where they were tall enough and old enough to ride nearly everything, we returned yearly for mini-vacations, so I experienced all of the rides that you showed here. Makes me nostalgic for those days and the park.
@@CoasterConnections I sure do. Working at the park was a big deal back then. The employees were all college students from the universities within a 5 hour drive from the park (now, it's exchange students from overseas - they can't get the local ones in large enough numbers anymore). the girls had dorms just on the other side of the fence from the corkscrew near the hotel Breakers, the guys were on the opposite side of the peninsula near the restaurant. Plus there were park owned apartments 8 people to an apartment just before you got on the causeway - some wild parties there. We worked and played hard and the park put on special events for us. there were midnight volleyball tournaments, moonlit sand castle building contests, there's a HUGE ballroom above the arcade on the midway and they'd bring in great bands for us... all of these things happening after the park would close for the night. Plus, sneaky travels through the park in the middle of the night to see if Frontier town's carousel was actually haunted (that wasn't allowed, but we didn't do any harm to anything...and didn't see any ghosts, lol). We made fast friends with everyone, We'd play in the park on our one day off/week, and had a signal for the spinning rides "employee spin' where they'd turn it up to 11. Be able to shortcut through the roller coaster lines (this was before VIP tickets were invented) and ride the Gemini 5 or 6 times in a row. - that was the newest coaster at the time. fabulous memories, wonderful times.
It was tradition to go on disaster transport as our last ride before leaving. Since it was such an amazing experience we wanted it to last. Half the fun was making our way into the cars. There was so much to look at. They kept expanding the walkways and adding newer things like the overhead conveyors moving things around like alien corpses and stuff. I soaked up every minute of the ride. Best ride they had
Thank you for commenting, I love hearing people’s memories and extra little details about the rides. There are so many people who loved Disaster Transport and used to think the opposite was true.
It was so damn fun. It was the first ride I'd ever been on that just took off like it did. Loved it. The wait in line was always pleasant too with the sweet, sweet A/C.
Being in Michigan, going to Cedar Point was a common Summer occurrence for us! Definitely remember the dual cabin observation tower, loved Disaster Transport and Demon Drop, too! Wicked Twister was fun though only rode it a couple times. Wanted to ride Top Thrill but it happened to be broken and in service every summer or other summer I went. I did enjoy Mean Steak but as you said, yeah, it got very rough and it left me rather shaken afterwards, glad to see it converted!
I used that one to build up my confidence to go on the next cheesy one until I had gotten brave enough to go on a bigger one. I STILL don’t know what ANY of the big drops look like, I closed my eyes & prayed for the best!😂😂
When I was a little kid, that damn dragon monster that popped up scared the hell out of me the first time I rode the pirate ride. Great memories of all the rides that are gone but the new memories of the rides that replaced them
Does anyone remember Jungle Larry or the upside down fun house? The train ride was a must when you were ready to just relax & watch the town of skeletons. So many memories for the 1960s/70s.
I was there once and there were not many people... No lines or short lines. We could ride the demon drop as fast as we could climb up there... And we did many times in a row.... Did that with gemini and the magnum too. Such an amazing, rare day!
Those are the sort of days I love. Cedar Point is one of those parks that seems to be busy all the time. Im surprised they dont have a longer operating season.
Maybe they'll create a new bobsled coaster at some point. I don't miss the painful Mantis, though. Cool type of rollercoaster (standup), just badly designed.
As a kid when it was still safe to let kids run free, this place was a tiny sample of what heaven must be like. The Blue Streak was amazing as was every section of this wonderful park.
as a kid I was so scared of the Demon Drop, mainly because of the name lol. Disaster Transport was my favorite coaster when I was young (tied with the Iron Dragon). I completely forgot about Space Spiral. And I will always miss Wicked Twister and waiting in the line near the lake. Thank you for driving me down memory lane :)
Great video. I worked at Cedar Point in 1980, ran the Funhouse, Wildcat, Rotor and Sky Ride. Working in 1990 was the Demon Drop and all of Kidde Kingdom. Worked 1991 in the Hotel Breakers. Worked there in 2020 AND 2021 in Food Operations, so i also saw many rides come and go as an employee. You did a GREAT JOB!!!❤😂
Thank you, that is high praise indeed coming from an ex employee. You sound like you have made a career in the industry, or maybe just enjoy working there!
@CoasterConnections I did enjoy it. Had also worked 3 seasons st Geauga Lake Park! That was awesome as there was always something to do and learn about. Many people think it's a no-brainer job but as you know, there's a lot more than it looks like at face value.
I will forever miss Wicked Twister, man. Such a good ride. I'd always end my days on it because the lines were short. Sometimes simple is the most fun.
I'll admit it's been decades since I've been there, but I loved it as a kid. While I do like bigger, faster, more exciting rides, I think the park went overboard. The smaller ones can be just as fun. While I wouldn't bother going there today, if there was a park that was essentially Cedar Point of 50 years ago, I'd go there.
Oh my gosh you unlocked such core memories I loved the Pirate ride & The Earthquake ride!!!!! Demon Drop was one of my favorites drop towers. The Disaster Transport was one of my favorite indoor coasters. I can remember the Bearenstein Bear Country. The TTD was insane my mom and I rode it once but every time we went again it was shut down.!!! How could I forget the Aquarium????? Thank you so much!!!!!!
Awesome video. I rode all but the water rides as I'm not fond of staying soaked all day. I was truly sad when they tore down Wicked Twister. That was my traditional first ride of the day at Cedar Point.
I miss Disaster Transport SO much! Even better on a really hot day. I miss Wicked Twister too. At least it seems like Top Thrill Two will bring a part of that back.
Disaster Transport was the perfect ride to wait out the rain. I have fond memories of going between that, the Carousel, and the bumper cars during heavy summer rains.
Nice video! Sadly I fell in love with Wicked Twister during its final season. 😅 Also, Meanstreak was probably the most appropriately named rollercoaster in history.
Mean Streak I heard was actually quite good in its first few years. But sadly it fell from grace not too long after from trim brakes and octagon wheels. It was retracked plenty of times from a team of carpenters but it pretty much just never was the same coaster it was when it opened.
I loved Wicked Twister, front row of the last car, right hand side was the best seat on that coaster! Disaster Transport was alright, the Air Conditioning was nice on hot summer days. I never rode Mean Streak. Dragster was closed on all my visits.
I know it wasnt a big ride, but I was very disappointed when they got rid of CHAOS. . Flipping caged in seats, rotating wheel & lifting arm, a trifecta of movement, each time you rode it was different, loved that thrill ride.
Unfortunately there were problems with the design of the ride, and with the accident that happened, it was a no brainer to take it out. There’s a good video about those types of flat rides that explains how they work/ the problems with them.
@@timothykaczmarek5871 Multiple years Voted one top Rides in the World. I would loved been on one the times didn't make it to the top and get Launched again, or really Rare when it Stopped at the Top
@@timothykaczmarek5871 Sorry to hear that. Did Heat that added to maintenance and Breakdowns? I remember being at Cedar Point one day when it hit 103 degrees. One best days ever spent there, too hot for many others, they all left the Park so no wait on rides.
Growing up in Detroit through the 70s and 80s Cedar Point was a part of our childhood. I’d ridden nearly all of these growing up, and even went back to ride Top Fuel Dragster the year it opened. Surprised you didn’t mention it sometimes not completing the crest and rolling backwards to the start - then going again with the same people. Happened 3 times while we waited in line that day.
I know this was more of a Coaster video, but does anyone remember the rotor? I was also disappointed when they took out the sky ride from the frontier town.
I’m sure many people remember the Rotor. Another ride for a follow up video I think! I know many people miss the Frontier Lift, it saved a lot of walking. The cabins from it are still used on the Sky Ride today.
@@CoasterConnections Fun fact for the Frontier Lift. While one station building was demolished to build Iron Dragon, the other still exists and is used as a public restroom. It's located between Skyhawk and Cedar Creek Mine Ride.
Does anyone remember the Rotor, a ride that the floor sinks, and centrifical force holds you in place? I remember a roller coaster called The Wildcat, in the early 1970's, when I went to Cedar Point with my family. I did get on that ride a couple of times, of course, after lengthy waits. The Blue Streak was Thee roller coaster back then. We wanted to go on that, but could not find the end of the line. It is amazing that roller coaster is still running today. I would imagine that with all the state of the art roller coasters of today, that there would hardly be any wait time to get on the Blue Streak these days. They say that you should not ride any roller coaster after eating for at least one hour. I remember seeing people in line for the Blue Streak eating hot dogs, chips, and sodas, but I would imagine that by the time they got on the ride, their food would have had plenty of time to digest. Later that day, by nightfall, we headed back to the Wildcat, but the line for that one was much longer than it was in the middle of the afternoon. I remember overheating somebody tell his father that he wanted go to on the Wildcat, to which his father replied, "I would love to get on it, too, but we'd never get on tonight with all these filthy rats in the way."
The Pirate Ride and Earthquake were a couple of my favorites. You also brought back memories of riding the Wildcat with my dad, over and over. I did not really like Wicked Twister. Last time I was there my favorite was the Raptor. Sadly, I'm older now and would have to use an electric cart to get around. I just don't think Cedar Point is possible for me anymore. Given the opportunity though, I would love to go .
I’m so pleased I could bring back memories for you. Raptor is still an absolutely great coaster and looks amazing on the midway. Hopefully you can get back sometime, maybe extra batteries for your cart… Cedar Point is so big! 😃
The Wildcat was a fun ride for the less adventurous. I'm a coaster enthusiast and I liked it. I HATED the mean streak, it was a rough and painful ride. My neck was sore for weeks after that thing so I only rode it once.
Great memories of being a kid in the 60s and a teen in the 70s and going at least once each summer throughout. My most vivid memory, though, is circa 2007. My boys, 8 and 6, were thrilled to go and that year ride roller coasters. As we approached on the midway they were talking up a storm. Before entering, they checked their heights against each coaster that they could ride. We by the tickets, enter the park, and the older one announces that he will not ride any coasters. My wife and I alternated going on coasters with the younger one. The younger one went on everything he could and tried to convince the checkers that he should be allowed to pass because he's only an inch or two short.
Oh no! I loved Wicked Twister. I haven't been to Cedar Point since before the 2020 thing, but that was one cool ride. The fun story is that on our first ride of it, my friend and I were at the park and the ride was down, so we didn't get to see it in action. They had just re-opened it and there was hardly any line. We were on the first train to launch. We had no idea what to expect and when it shot out with such force, we really had a surprise and a blast. I am sad that this ride is gone.
Why did they destroy Wicked Twister? It was a pretty fun ride and took up minimal space, seems like they could have easily relocated it to keep up their roller coaster count.
I don't think anyone really knows, but the beachside location does lead to increased wear on rides and their parts. Maybe it couldn't be kept, but some beachside Cedar Point rides from the 70's are still operation at other parks.
Definitely miss some of these. Demon Drop was fun. We would put a coin on our legs to watch it float as we dropped. Also, I loved Disaster Transport. I was really bummed when it closed. Aside from being a place to hide from the heat or rain, I loved the visuals in the queue and during the ride. I didn’t mind being in line as much for that one cause of the cool stuff they designed to make it a different kind of experience.
Disaster Transport was a really interesting ride. Not really all that much of a thrill, but entertaining none the less. Mean Streak was one of my favorites. When the ride was new, it was awesome, but as it aged the ride got really rough. I must have rode it a dozen times over the years it ran.
I was always too short for the jumbo Jet. It required a higher height limit. I was very small for my age so kids younger than me got to ride it. Finally I reached the proper height went to the park and the closed it down for good. To this day I always wished that I had the chance to ride it
Removal of White Water Rapids, Demon Drop, Wildcat, Disaster Transport, Shoot the Rapids, and Mean Streak killed any chance of a nostalgia trip and has made we want to adventure to other parks instead. I never got to ride wicked twister, nor the space spiral, always wanted to but never got the chance.
I love exploring other parks, but it’s also fun to see how a park you know has changed over time. I’d have loved to have got on Space Spiral, I can imagine the view was amazing.
If I’m remembering correctly Earthquake was very similar to the Pirate Ride. I remember being in a small car with my parents going thru the enclosed ride while animatronic people and buildings almost fell on you. For a little kid it was creepy and fun. And the air conditioning gave you a respite from the punishing summer heat outside. These rides were old fashioned but fun. It’s like losing history when they close.
Agreed. It’s 30 years old this year. I rode it in 2010 and was amazed it was as old as 1994. Felt like it was built with 2000s technology. March 18, 2024 9:05 am
I rode the demon drop at dorney park back in 2022, and I must say it was pretty fun, and it made me feel a wave of nostalgia, bringing back so many memories
Me too, there is only a few left in the world, which is understandable because the new drop towers are far better than the first generation models. I also went on the space spiral, I remember sitting in the shaft looking out of those shaded dark windows looking down at everything from the 265 ft tower. It would be nice to install another one there, maybe 445 ft or so and it could be in frontier town and made of brick with an elevator inside. It would be located right next to millennium force’s former queue line space and next to the train station
I first went to Cedar Point the year Raptor opened….I went to Kings Island more often…rode most of these. Really miss Mantis and Wicked Twister..even Mean Streak!
Thanks for watching! You are possibly the only person to miss Mean Streak 😂 While Cedar Point has some of the better rides, I love the atmosphere and feel of Kings Island more.
Disaster Transport…great ride. Wonder if Cedar point ever thought about creating a midway full of the old stuff…kind of off to itself. No more than 4 major attractions. It would be really nice to ride the old pirate ride again!
Love this... or use them as inspiration for new attractions. Imagine an updated trackless Pirate Ride or a Disaster Transport utilising new technology.
Sadly no mention of Jumbo Jet. I was too short when it was at Cedar Point - and when I grew tall enough - it was gone 😞 I loved the Pirate Ride and the old Earth Quake (?) indoor rides as a youngling. Those types of rides were great when the weather turned bad. (Didn't have cell phones with up to the second weather forecasts back then) The frontier lift was great for heading for the parking lot when you were at the back of the park around closing time. Another relaxing ride and good for after eating was the Paddle Wheel boats. I didn't care if the jokes were 10 years old, they were still enjoyable to me. I'm glad to hear that I wasn't the only one who thought the Mean Streak was too rough to be enjoyable back in 2012 when I last rode it. I thought I was just getting too old :-)
More love for the Jumbo Jet! I can see a follow up video coming, there are so many lost rides at Cedar Point. Thank you for sharing, I love reading about everyone’s memories.
I use to love the Pirate Ride, I remember when it closed in 1996 I was 11 years old. I always remember the pirate yelling, Look out below! ALso pirates wasnt the only true dark ride at ceder point there was also Disaster Transport that opened in 1991 after it was enclosed due to sand getting on the track when it was called Avalanche Run.
Wicked Twister reminds a lot of possessed at Dorney Park. I immediately thought of it because of the resemblance from the picture before he even talked about the ride. Turns out that they were the same type of coaster.
Good spot and thanks for watching! I actually prefer some of the other models because of the holding brake on the straight spike. Unfortunately Steel Venom at Valleyfair is the only installation that still uses it.
The last time I rode Mean Streak it threw my head forward and back against the seat. It lived up to its name at least. LONG LIVE Top Thrill Dragster 2 and Gatekeeper!
@@jeffgreen5429 From when it was removed that is highly doubtful to me. I never thought they were the same coaster you know why because I’ve been riding it since I was 10. I’m now almost 20 which makes them being the same ride impossible.
@@kaitlinschwarz3644 Fair nough. Neither Dorney nor Cedair Point is my home park, and i just went to both for the first time last year. So i had no clue there was any difference.
My memory has faded. But there was a white rollercoaster when you interred to the left. It was blown up in a movie after a car chase through the lower area. To simulate the chace brought in down. I want to say it was one of the Smokey and the Bandit movies. At the time it was the oldest roller coaster in the country. I road it in 1980. In a couple of clips here you saw it in the background. I remember just a seatbelt. Often you would be thrown upward in the seat as you crested hills. There was a funhouse where the rooms were upside down. Looked like a period mansion from about a 100 years ago. There was a beach you could come and go from the park.
My mom and sister rode the Demon Drop back in the 90s when we spent the day at Cedar Point while camping at East Harbor State Park! I think that also might have been the day my sister, cousin, and I rode on Thunder Canton 13 consecutive times because there was no line xD
I went on August 3, 2010 but missed out on a couple of these… Disaster Transport and Shoot the Rapids. My whole visit was compressed into one day so I focused on the biggest coasters. It was a Tuesday, and my senior year of high school started that Thursday so we had to be back home. Still think August 5 is way too early to start the school year… try August 25 instead. It certainly is a big park to fit into one day, especially if you want to do everything. You should move to England, over here we don't start school until early September!

Didn't like the creepy Disaster Transport refurb, but definitely appreciated the air conditioning in the summer. Sad to see Mean Streak go. It was my favorite! I love Cedar Point now, but also love seeing it back in the 80s and 90s. Thanks for sharing your memories of this great park. Steel Vengeance is one of the best (if not the best) roller coasters out there, I hope you get to ride it.

Some great memories you have there, thank you for sharing. So many people have grown up with this park.
Pirate Ride was such a cheesy ride but it was traditional that we rode that ride first! Such nostalgia ❤
It sure looked like a fun ride, I never got to experience it. I’m glad the video brought back memories.
Great memories of all the rides that are gone but the new memories of the rides that replaced them
It was cheesy, but I always loved riding it. That area was always fun with the turnpike cars and Calypso being our next stops after we rode it.
I loved the pirate ride!
Is the mine ride still there?
What about the iron dragon?
Does anyone remember Jungle Larry or the upside down fun house? The train ride was a must when you were ready to just relax & watch the town of skeletons. So many memories for the 1960s/70s.
It looks like such a different park back then. I wish I could have experienced it during that time. I’ve just had to look up Jungle Larry too!
I wish I could’ve seen the Upside Down Fun House
Yes I loved the store at Jungle Larry's. But sorry for the animals...especially when the Corkscrew went in. The screaming drove the big cats crazy!!
@@thomasmiller5057 I hated the slide to get out of the haunted fun house
As a kid the train ride was thrilling.
White water rapids, Disaster Transport, Mean Streak, Magnum Xl were my favorite rides
I still think Magnum is the 2nd best ride in the park.
Everyone misses Disaster transport, I miss the Wild Cat and ill never forget the Mantis.
If you hit like Mantis check out my “more lost rides” video you will see it in that!
I bet it was amazing, but I think it still is!
as a kid I was so scared of the Demon Drop, mainly because of the name lol. Disaster Transport was my favorite coaster when I was young (tied with the Iron Dragon). I completely forgot about Space Spiral. And I will always miss Wicked Twister and waiting in the line near the lake. Thank you for driving me down memory lane :)
Thank you for watching! I’m so glad I could unlock some memories for you. If you liked Disaster Transport check out my latest video.
omg i loved the wildcat as a kid.
Unfortunately I never rode it, but it looked like a fun ride.
So many of these were wonderful childhood memories 😭
Thank you so much for watching.
Well done! Loved getting to reminisce about my trips to Cedar Point many yrs ago! Sad to see Disaster transport go…among others.
Disaster Transport was such a unique concept for a bobsled coaster. I’d love to see Cedar Point add more heavily themed rides in the future.
i had the pleasure to ride disaster transport and I didn't know it was a bobsled til after.@@CoasterConnections
grew up near cedar point, loved the demon drop and doing the penny trick and disaster transport on a hot summer day was a damn life send lol
The penny trick! Memory unlocked! 😂
I will forever miss Wicked Twister, man. Such a good ride. I'd always end my days on it because the lines were short. Sometimes simple is the most fun.
Sometimes the simple ones are the best. Similar coasters are still out there… ride them while you can!
I’d join you in that park too. I understand why all the new rides are there, but I love the look of the park in the 70’s.
Thank you so much! There have been some great rides at the park over the years.
Awww I loved Wicked Twister. And to see it replaced by a restaurant is criminal...
I can see why it has been done. That plot has troubles due to how close it is to the beach.
Awesome video. I rode all but the water rides as I'm not fond of staying soaked all day. I was truly sad when they tore down Wicked Twister. That was my traditional first ride of the day at Cedar Point.
I’m the same, I’ve been drier in a bath than on some water rides!
Thing is if it was a hot day - you were dry by the time you'd reach your next ride. Your hair would get get a free blow dry on the ride
Really miss the Mill Race and Wicked Twister. But no, build ANOTHER restaurant. The reason people go to amusement parks, right!!??
lol omg yes my thoughts exactly when I heard what they were doing building a food place!!!
At the age of 58, The Blue Streak is & will always be my warm up ride!
I miss Disaster Transport SO much! Even better on a really hot day.
I miss Wicked Twister too. At least it seems like Top Thrill Two will bring a part of that back.
Top Thrill 2 bringing back the swing launch! Hopefully the start of further investment in coming years too.
Disaster Transport was the perfect ride to wait out the rain. I have fond memories of going between that, the Carousel, and the bumper cars during heavy summer rains.
I bet they are some great memories, making the most of the park even in bad weather. I think indoor rides need to make a comeback to Cedar Point.
Or the heat of the summer to the cool AC
I've operated Demon Drop at its new home in PA. It ran for about 5% of the season I worked the park. One of the roughest rides.
That’s so cool you got to work on it. It’s getting old now. Hopefully it will be operational when I next visit.
Great video! I've never seen on ride footage of The Pirate Ride!
Thank you for watching!
Nice video! Sadly I fell in love with Wicked Twister during its final season. 😅 Also, Meanstreak was probably the most appropriately named rollercoaster in history.
Thank you for watching! Definitely one that lived up to its name!
Twister was soooo underrated. Multi launch, tall, rerideable, and no line 👌🏻👌🏻
💯!@@seanmiller8151
Mean Streak I heard was actually quite good in its first few years. But sadly it fell from grace not too long after from trim brakes and octagon wheels. It was retracked plenty of times from a team of carpenters but it pretty much just never was the same coaster it was when it opened.
I loved Wicked Twister, front row of the last car, right hand side was the best seat on that coaster! Disaster Transport was alright, the Air Conditioning was nice on hot summer days. I never rode Mean Streak. Dragster was closed on all my visits.
Oh this brought back MEMORIES. I grew up going to cedarpoint every summer in the 90s.
I’m so pleased you enjoyed it. I bet they were some fun summers!
thank you for this.
You're very welcome! ☺️
Awesome video. Thanks for sharing.
And thank you for watching! 😃
That Demon Drop kicked my ass literally.
😂😂😂
What happened to the Mine Ride? That was my favorite
Don’t worry, Cedar Creek mine ride is still there!
Oh it's still there, when you want to relax a bit?
This was a great video! From this Cedar Point lovers heart, Thank you!
Thank you so much! I know I'm not the greatest UA-camr out there, but comments like this make my day.
Thank you for the memories!
And thank you for watching!
I know it wasnt a big ride, but I was very disappointed when they got rid of CHAOS. . Flipping caged in seats, rotating wheel & lifting arm, a trifecta of movement, each time you rode it was different, loved that thrill ride.
It wasn’t big, but it was fun!
There are still some of that ride type out there. I last rode one at the Adventuredome in Las Vegas.
I rode it before Cedar Point when it was still at Michigan's Adventure. It was a favorite. At least before the accident...
That too was a great ride
Unfortunately there were problems with the design of the ride, and with the accident that happened, it was a no brainer to take it out. There’s a good video about those types of flat rides that explains how they work/ the problems with them.
dragster wasn't lsm it was a hydraulic launch
Correction noted, thanks!
No big deal. That ride was a piece of SHIT anyway. Top Thrill Dumpster!
@@timothykaczmarek5871 Multiple years Voted one top Rides in the World. I would loved been on one the times didn't make it to the top and get Launched again, or really Rare when it Stopped at the Top
@@firstsgt279 Trust me. As an employee, that ride was a fucking major maintenance headache
A rollback is usually a rare occurrence. It’s something fans of the ride hope they get, to happen 3 times is amazing.
Wicket Twister was my absolute favorite. Short lines, and a short wait time for great fun, right after smoking a few joints in the parking lot.
Sounds like a fun afternoon!
I've ridden 4 of these, White Water, wicked twister, Demon drop, and Mean streak, they were awesome!
Thats good going! I hope you enjoyed them.
so confused where you found Avalanche Run / Disaster Transport videos. I can hardly find a photo of it online now before being enclosed.
I love researching park history, and spend hours reading books and trawling the internet for things like this.
Was that the one that spun you around in a circle, and you'd stick to the wall (centrifugal force) when the floor dropped out?
22:46 yes it WAS @@ericthuemmel5275
It was great and also the bobsled ride, I think it was called the Hymalayan? Do you remember the name of the ride with the Bavarian spinning woman?
@@CoasterConnections Fun fact for the Frontier Lift. While one station building was demolished to build Iron Dragon, the other still exists and is used as a public restroom. It's located between Skyhawk and Cedar Creek Mine Ride.
Man, wicked twister and disaster transport made some good memories!!
That area of the park seems to have a high proportion of the lost rides.
There was also the Rotor and Schwabinchen there in that area, plus Chaos moved from nearby Top Thrill Dumpster entrance is now.
Thank you for sharing those memories! Check out my “more lost rides” video in the pinned comment to see The Rotor.
I remember riding the Rotor and the crew was hosing the walls off after a rider puked and it clung to the walls.
Wild Cat was awesome!I liked Disaster Transport because just waiting in the queue was entertaining. It felt somewhat like a discount Space Mountain.
Thank you for watching. The problem with space themed rides is they always have the Disney comparison.
When they got Disaster Transport we employees called that Avalanche Re-Run. The higher ups didn't like that!!
Thanks for watching! I think your view is shared by many. So many comments saying how rough it was!
Thank you so much for sharing. I love hearing about stories like this!
I remember the commercials leading up to the debut of Demon Drop. We used to get SO hyped for new rides every season!
I love the old commercials! Demon Drop and Gemini are some of my favourites!
Demon drop, demon drop......
@@jeffoaks5878 yessssss, that was the commercial!
I love the force on these rides too. That’s a fun story, thanks for sharing!
From what I understand it's cost a crapload to electrify. Sorry excuse of a closure but I guess I have to believe it
Definitely miss some of these.
Thanks for watching. You aren’t alone in loving Disaster Transport. I thought it was hated, but so many comments tell me it was loved!
The rotor was the best! Spin around till the floor fell out, great!!
Love these old style rides!
Disaster Transport was a really interesting ride. Not really all that much of a thrill, but entertaining none the less.
Mean Streak was one of my favorites. When the ride was new, it was awesome, but as it aged the ride got really rough. I must have rode it a dozen times over the years it ran.
Thanks for sharing your insights into Cedar Point’s history. I love hearing little bits of info like this.
Wicked Twister was one of my favorites. I got to ride it a few weeks before it was closed for good.
It was certainly a great ride. So many people have memories of it.
Jumbo Jet gets no love
You aren’t the first person to say that! Maybe I need to do another video.
@@CoasterConnectionsYes please!! Jumbo Jet was literally the initial reason I started this video!!
I was always too short for the jumbo Jet. It required a higher height limit. I was very small for my age so kids younger than me got to ride it. Finally I reached the proper height went to the park and the closed it down for good. To this day I always wished that I had the chance to ride it
@@jeffsandler6190 I had a similar experience. I finally got to ride it ONCE right before it closed down.

Thank you so much for sharing this! I have so much curiosity about Earthquake and have struggled to find much information about the interior
This is a great Memory Lane video, grew up going to Cedar Point, the most memorable was the day after graduating high school 1991..
Hopefully it’s a good trip down menu lane. I love seeing old park photos and videos and how parks have changed over the years.
Raptor better never make this list 😠 😡

It's got a great layout but I hate those restraints. If they redid the ride id be ok with it
Agreed. It’s 30 years old this year. I rode it in 2010 and was amazed it was as old as 1994. Felt like it was built with 2000s technology.

I hope it does.. that ride beats the hell out of you
Is the iron dragon still there?
I rode the demon drop at dorney park back in 2022, and I must say it was pretty fun, and it made me feel a wave of nostalgia, bringing back so many memories
That’s where I have ridden it too! I’m so glad it is still around.
@@CoasterConnections it’s like The Beast at Kings Island…it’s iconic! The Vortex was way more jerkier than Mean Streak

Loved Demon Drop!
First ride every time.
I need to get back to Dorney Park for another ride.
Sadly no mention of Jumbo Jet. I was too short when it was at Cedar Point - and when I grew tall enough - it was gone 😞
I loved the Pirate Ride and the old Earth Quake (?) indoor rides as a youngling. Those types of rides were great when the weather turned bad.
(Didn't have cell phones with up to the second weather forecasts back then)
The frontier lift was great for heading for the parking lot when you were at the back of the park around closing time.
Is the Mine Ride coaster still in Frontierland?
Cedar Creek Mine Ride is indeed still at the park.
I loved Disaster Transport. I named a small bear after the ride
Thanks for sharing your memories!
The Mean Streak is so awful. I needed a chiropractor after that ride. Just a brutal, brutal coaster to go on.
You aren't the first to say that! It must be a popular opinion!
hehehe I took a friend on that, and he called it 'the Mike Tyson Experience'
Mean streak would beat you up! It was such a rough ride.
The name was accurate
Mean Streak wasn't bad if you drank lots of beer before getting on the damn thing. 😂
I rode the original Log Ride water coaster. When did it disappear?
Are you meaning Mill Race? This closed in 1993 and is in my “more lost rides” video.
Whaaaa? I remember wicked twister. It was so fun.
I never got to ride, but love the coaster type.
Thank you for sharing! I think Cedar Point is overdue a new dark ride.

Deja Vu at Great America was a much better ride than Vertical Velocity, which was similar to Twister…

Thank you for watching. It definitely lived up to it's name.
Never rode these at Cedar Point, but was very happy to get on Demon Drop and Possessed at Dorney. Really enjoyed both.

Thank you for watching and sharing your memories.
The big dipper? My memory isn't too good either
My mom and sister rode the Demon Drop back in the 90s when we spent the day at Cedar Point while camping at East Harbor State Park! I think that also might have been the day my sister, cousin, and I rode on Thunder Canton 13 consecutive times because there was no line xD
That’s some great memories. I love hearing about people’s visits to Cedar Point over the years.
I operated Demon Drop in 1990. That was a fun ride to operate. It had a mind of its own sometimes. We called it the Lemon Drop when it went down.
The Mean Streak was brutal. It was so rough that I always got a headache after riding it. I did like that is was a very long ride.
I love a rough ride, but this may have been too much for me!
No mention of the monorail and the stage coach ride?
