nice, I thought it was going to fall by the looks of that Jack stand
Facts I just did this yesterday but it took me 5 minutes total for both sides. Getting my new inner and outer ball joints in with my poly bushings was another story. But it’s done.
Thank you
you must have destroyed the inner ball joint rubber boot with that fork
Yeah those jacks look sketchy !
James are you in the US mate? Over in the UK we salt the roads so this stuff corrodes like nothing else, i've just spent over an hour hitting the bottom wishbone with a lump hammer and it still didn't come free. Ended up cutting the wishbone in half with a grinder and replacing the entire hub/upright/wishbone because of this lol
mate i have just had the same problem with an 52 reg mini from the uk. i am lucky that i work within a machine shop as i couldn't get the inner ball joint free. i was lucky that the outer balljoint came free as the bolts to the hub were so corroded that they were round and even with a nut extractor they wouldn't come free.
My as, i done these many times ea has their own pain to come out. Only the part he pops arm out of the bushing is easy, to get there.....
2 minutes after the removal off all the brake setup. Lol
Mine wont budge, an tips welcome !!
Great job!... but now how to remove the bushing, which is probably the reason to remove the wishbone?
I've heard the upside-down bolts make it a pain.
I used a Sawzall to cut the bushing out of the housing, leaving the housing installed on the car. I then used a bushing removal tool to slide it out. Then I used the tool the slide the new one in.
James F Can't the tool be used to remove the bush alone? Does it actually require cutting or was that just to speed things up? can the inner ball joint be swapped out once the wishbone is removed or does it require the frame dropping?
thanks
I also want to know is it possible to remove the bush and carrier without lowering the subframe to replace the whole bush with a new oem part
Great job!
Used pickle fork, lifted seal up and still shredded my ball joint. Still stuck on. Torch time. :(
+Mark Berry You should video it to help others in the same situation. :)
Does the rear part of the bush just pull out of the rubber...Mine has a nut/Allen key on the end..Does that not need to be undone
It has been a few years since I did this job, and I don't remember. Sorry.
If in doubt....grind it out!
I did this and it works. However, how the hell do you refit the wishbone into an OEM bush!!!???
Nik Blower a bushing press?
Best to buy performance bushing it takes a "special" tool to push in but then 1/2 of the bushing slides pretty easy. Search saw removal of remaining bushing it works best with new blade
I slow mowed the vid @ 42 seconds you smash the threads dead on...lol should have left the nut on loose....lol
I thought i saw that too in real time!
Me salvastes.... God bless you my friend.
easy peesy
thanks
Cool I'll try the crow bar trick
FLAT RATE AF⚡🤣
