Best way by far is to remove wishbone and leave subframe and rear bush housing in place. Buy poly bushes for rear bush replacement - these bushes come in two parts an inner part and outer part.
Use a sabre saw or reciprocating saw with metal blade and cut through the rear bush metal sleeve and it will come out easy. Free off a bit with a chisel on the sleeve part sticking out if you have to. Once out the outer poly bush pops into the bush housing. Then pop poly bush inner part onto the wishbone when ready to install. It all slides in easy with the poly grease and allows rotation movement without twisting. Far better design than original and cheap too. Done a couple of minis this way and would never replace these rear bushes with original spec again, after fighting with getting the wishbone back in for hours one time. I knew after I’d finished I’d probably damaged the new bush too! Poly bushes definitely the way to go- fit and forget plus zero lateral movement too.

Really appreciate your honesty in their video, it’s not a job from a trolley jack. I’ve changed the two front ball joints but think I’ll need to do these bushes in time, best to get some cash out and get the experts on it.

an easy reinstallation for the bush...
apply some grease ir washing-up liquid to the control arm & pull wiggle the bushing into place, you could also upgrade the bushing to polly bushes for it to last that bit longer & to allow better control over the standard bush.
also, to remove it you can wiggle the bush in place side to side & apply WD40 "or similar" between the bush & the arm & then push like hell & wiggle to get the bush off, the application of a hammer also helps
another method to get the bush out of the bracket, you can invert a hack saw blade & cut through the rubber into the alloy outter shell & then simply knock the inners out leaving the bracket ready for a new bush to be fitted..
also since you had the sub frame down you could've checked/changed the front anti-roll bar mounts "again possibly upgrading them to polly bush types"

Cheers mal for the comments, but on mine there was no way a bit of wiggling would have either removed or installed them, a truck ratchet strap was at high tension to pull them back in .... Well not unless you had arms like the Hulk 😂

@@Planefix1 aw I know exactly what you mean, as pulling a tight rubber ring down a metal shaft the rubber just grips hold etc.. that's why the trick of adding WD40, washing up liquid or silicone helps break that friction... I've the R55 S clubman & didn't need half that effort, initially using washing up liquid then opting for silicone spray wiggling the mount down & slight tapping with a rubber mallet got it bedded down nicely "I was however using a polly bush upgrade over the regular item..
removing it, I simply cut the main body off the enclosed rubber shaft of the control arm, then used some vice grips/mole grips to try & break the grip whilst adding WD40/silicone, then opting to simply cut the rubber off the control arm, each side was to remove about 5minutes, maybe less

Just had my MOT and i mentioned i sometimes get a banging noise from the passenger footwell especially with a bit of acceleration lift on uneven road. Do you think it will be this bush, Mot tester could see slight cracking in both bushes so gave an advisory and I was keen to sort the noise out. I had the anti roll bar bushes done on a previous mini when i had a similar noise, probably best to do both as the subframe had to be dropped when they done the last one.

I don't why didn't just remove lower arm now have access to the subframe bolts that hold the lower arm. I've done job twice on two separate minis dropped subframe just enough to get the long bolts out. Thanks
