Jo Lutz Hi, The karat content is a personal preference and maybe it would have to do with budgets. I do recommend 14k over 10k personally because it does contain over 58% of gold and easier to move when your in a tight spot. If it’s a piece for you, that you are not thinking about reselling I see why you would choose 10k, for the strength of it since it’s your forever piece and you will get more size for your dollar. Our 10k does not tarnish. It will get dirty just like any other karat and you can clean it to bring it back to life like any other karat. However The lower the karat the more of a pale yellow it will be by a small difference between karats
