I feel like this is a boss that should've had a second HP Bar, his second phase is SO COOL, easily my favorite fight in the whole game, but its over so fast
yeah i keep hearing how people consider this boss hard but it was super squishy because it "starts" with basically ~40% health.. maliketh moveset and overall design is prob my fav in the game alongside radahn but it almost felt underwhelming
im honestly not even trying to be elitist.. elden ring is my first souls game, i prob spent 3 hours fighting margit and like 2 hours fighting malenia, but I killed maliketh first try
Agreed. After I beat him I imediately looked up Maliketh lore videos. Who is THIS PIMP???
This boss fight didn't feel short at all to me; felt like countless hits before he finally died and it wasn't always easy to find an opportunity to land a safe attack (with a colossal sword). Elden Ring has a lot of high dmg builds/weapons that kind of break certain encounters. I hated this fight because the second phase felt hard for all the wrong reasons; after learning his attack patterns, almost all the deaths I had were due to either not being able to see where the next attack was coming because of all the magic effect clutter on the screen while he's leaping around, or because my target lock broke from him either going behind a pillar or getting stuck in one, making him phase out and reappear in a different part of the arena (which happened a LOT to me).
PLEASE, NO. I'm still struggling with this motherfucker and I'm so sad. I can't ever get to hit him because he's a FUCKING BIRD FLYING THROUGH THE AIR LIKE "HAHA U CANT HIT ME SWORD GO BRR"
Definitely, or give him an hp buff because it's too small
You can see the sheer terror in his eyes the moment he thought that his jump-attack strategy was not going to work against this boss
It's all he has. I hate his attitude toward this game.
@@BrainOfStoneliterally every vid I’ve watched of this guy it’s the same fight every time
I don't know if I'd call it a strategy... He's just doing the same attack over and over and complains when it doesn't work first try.
@@KarpetBurn That on itself is a strategy. A pretty pathetic one but a strategy nonetheless
@@2TypeAB average fromsoft d rider when someone plays the game the way they want to play it.
I honestly want a full version of maliketh. He probably had 2 health bars in development but they probably thought that was two much. A rematch with no beast clergyman phase would be a cool super boss.
I agree. Maliketh would be really cool if we only had to fight him instead of the clergyman. The beast clergyman felt a bit obnoxious into an otherwise cool fight.
Beast clergyman is a cool fight. But it should not be put into malekiths battle.
It should be another boss before malekith or sum
Nah the beast clergyman phase needs to happen bc the lore reveal that hes actually maliketh. Just think maliketh should restart at full hp for phase 2.
@@funkgoeson4936 I was gonna say I like the idea of a legend like Maliketh stepping down to the role of a simple clergyman. But it’s obvious there’s something more to him when fighting him, deceiving you to think he’s a low tier boss. Just wish he had two full phases, I love how aggressive he is in the first phase too!
Well that’s BS it didn’t stop them from giving Malenia 2 health bars at the top of life steal
I couldnt even discern how that move killed him the first time, it was like he flew across the whole length of the arena with a swordstrike
No you got it, that is exactly what happened
he didnt dodge
Also Maliketh likes to clip through the map lmao
Artorias + Gael + Ludwig + furry
I mean….. yea pretty accurate
Why do people compare every single boss to those three, Maliketh has literally nothing to do with those bosses

I don't think there's anything "wrong" with using a strong/easy strategy and I hate gatekeepers as much as the next guy. Still, it feels kind of bad watching him steamroll through my favorite boss in the game. I would know because I was way too strong when I got to Morgott, completely destroyed him, and felt like I cheated myself out of a really cool experience after the fact.
Asmon has said before one of the reasons he likes playing these types of games is to make the most op broke builds possible, to make the game look like a joke.
@@Glados1080 I get that. At the end of the day we probably just play these games for different reasons.
same I absolutely rolled him with a bleed build and seeing him go down that fast made me respec into a full strength guts sword build just so i can experience the cool ass fights

I will never get over how absolutely gorgeous this game is.
I remember struggling hard with the Draconic Tree Sentinel before Leyndell just a few days before I got here, but when I fought the one before the entrance to Malekith I beat him with ease on my first try, and it was mostly because I had learned him and my skills were so much better this time. That made me think I was ready for Malekith himself, but I could not have been more wrong! I fought him hours without any success! It was a pretty humbling experience.
Man I had a much harder time with the sentinel guarding his area than I ever did with maliketh
Same thing happened with the Full Grown fallingstar Beast. He best me very easily when I fought him at he crystal tunnel in Caelid but I had learned his moveset so well that I was able to beat the full grown version on my first try
The tree sentinel killed me more times than Maliketh did! I actually had to go around him to fight Maliketh and after that I fought the sentinel

If maliketh had a full health bar he would be the hardest boss in the game.
That's probably why they didn't make his phase 2 full HP. He is way too powerful and versatile. He can beat even Malenia with only 35%-40% HP.
I wish they would’ve, I honestly think he’s the coolest boss in the game
i mean depends on you opinion but he already is lmfaoo he wins every single 1v1 against any boss you put him up against so he could already be the hardest boss in the game
Gave me the most trouble of any boss my first playthru
Same story with hoarah loux
I genuinely think Maliketh and Hoarah Loux were the two dopest bosses in the entire game. Maliketh gave me far more trouble than Malenia did.
And Maliketh's Black Blade is my favorite colossal sword in the game. Physical/holy with high AR, weapon art has insane hyperarmor and chunks like crazy.
And it has the sickest design in the game. That black&gold armor combined with deep red aura is just chef's kiss.
Same, Malenia took me more tries, but now I can consistently beat her.
I honestly don't even remember how I beat Maliketh and am terrified of facing him in NG+
@@SeiPR727 I just fought Maliketh on NG+3 about an hour ago. He killed me three times before I could beat him, and most of that was me hiding behind the pillars to heal. His damage is insane. Every NG+ I start, my vigor stat seems more and more useless.

The gatekeeping in this community is pretty intense. I love elden ring but they make so many broken builds possible because it's the way they made it. People can use them if they want or not if they want the challenge. That's the beauty of 'single player', your playthrough has fuck all to do with anyone else.
Souls community in general is extremely obnoxious about these stuff. I mean broken builds are a staple in RPG, this isn't something exclusive to Fromsoft games.
@@spinyslasher6586 I wouldn´t say the communit in general is like that, they are not, the problem is these obnoxious tards are really loud.
I agree, I think the gatekeeping in souls games is ridiculous. I think the reason it's there though is because of the discrepancies between builds. People get annoyed when players brag about how good they are when they beat a boss with their broken build. However, it has no impact on someone's own experience with the game so i'm not sure why ppl care.
@@Kaltoriastw literally. Then they say things like “why cant I just do this” because all they’ve been doing is the same one move over and over and hoping it works

Damn that hurt my soul when he did a jump attack and it took a 5th of Maliketh's HP.
I love that asmons only tactic is jump attack lol
To be fair if you are going for a strength build with big weapons, its the best way to scale the damage especially with the raptor cloak and the claw talisman
Jump attack is the best way to attack with heavier weapons. It's all the damage with none of the wind-up.

Look at the damage he is giving, his health and his endurance.
It is way too much.
I mean look at his build 😂 he does more dmg in a faster laps of time than 3 autos of my db katana
Spent a couple hours with this guy. Was a fun fight, Maliketh had me on edge. I found out that this Blasphemous Claw I had would stun him for a bit if I used it during his golden slash - really obscure knowledge omg - but it felt epic as hell to land. Dope fight
Meanwhile I am on Day 2 of this boss. I seriously need to rebirth at this point.
it’s all fun and games till the beast clergyman gets the power of death and anime on his side. oh and a giant ass fucking sword.
I beat this guy with the wolverine claws at +10. The bloodhound step really helped me.
That shot when Maliketh pulls out the blade, slowly revealing his terrifying face. Goosebumps. Also Asmon's face as it happens is priceless lol

if only beast incantations are half as strong as meliketh's. Ours is so scuffed lmao
yeah, but at least dragon incants are OP asf to make up for it kekw.
The bolder is actually good u can spam it
@@blastphemii wind up is too slow really. Overall beast is just.. pepega
I have the same feeling for most incantations actually. The best example everyone mentions (rightfully so) is elden stars. But there are more like flame of the fell god or borealis mist just to name a few. I think the dmg doesnt justify the high costs or casttime for these spells. But i agree, the beast spells are weak, they have no hyper armor while cast, they mostly dont stagger enemies and they have a high casttime for their low dmg.
I am so much better of doing lightning spells or like the commenter above mentioned with dragon spells.
Btw. I think the best incantations are black blade, golden vow, fire grant me strength and rotten breath (not ekzykes dumpsterfire because you cant use that on a horse and it costs way more to cast for almost the same dmg the rotten breath does)

Maliketh was so squishy, was a legit 5/6 hitter for str builds
After the hell of fighting him as a faith build, it was very satisfying seeing asmon BODY him
@Captain_Morgan >implying i was using weapons that can
@Captain_Morgan exactly what I had to do.
I went hard into faithdex hybrid with dual scythes and light armor. Upgraded three different scythes to near max refinement, and didnt have any runes or materials left to quickly level a better weapon. Suffice to say that really bit me in the ass with this boss and pretty much all subsequent ones. The slow attack speed and mediocre single-target damage of the scythes made every boss after this one an absolute slog. I was doing maybe 400 damage per attack while the boss cleared half my hp each hit, but I would rather beat my head against a wall for two hours and defeat the boss on my own terms than than take a small detour to farm runes, respec, and level a different weapon.
The only problem in this boss fight, is the distance between spawn and the actual boss area. + the Sentinel that can screw your back.
The sentinal is so damn annoying my god this is the understatement of the year lol. My first few attempts I can enter and then roll forward and the Clergyman is slowing Walking towards me but after three or so attempts he is straight up just running and then I’m getting hit through the mist by the Sentinal… it’s all too much.
@@nicholasglowka7285 if you kill the sentinel he doesn’t spawn again
You actually have good reason to try and kill the Sentinel - because not only does this make it so he won't respawn and give you trouble anymore. But you'll also get his unique armor set that you can use for some Elden Bling.
“Witless Tarnished… why covet Destined Death. To kill what?!” Actual chills
Such a good fucking game. I wish I enjoyed my second playthrough as much as the first. First play through was so good

The pillar made this boss far more easy since you can hide behind it to heal
lmfao 😂 1:05 chat “use your eyebrows bro wtf” i’m dead
For me this was the 3rd hardest boss in the game, and took me 5 hours. I was using rivers of blood + uchigatana and good no hit the first phase. But it takes so long to do the 2nd phase because you cant get bleed off on him easily. So I end up running out of heals, which is why it took me so long.
Personally I wish this boss had way more health, as well as every boss respawns after a bit, don’t like having to beat the game again just to fight a boss again with a different build
I don't want them to naturally respawn, but it would be nice if you could manually summon them again.

And, we know that they can do it, sekiro does exist after all
I accidentally oneshotted his second phase while using the black knife, it cutscene glitched his healthbar to near empty, it was sad :(

Maliketh deserves to have a full HP bar, and a bit more increased health. He's too deadly of an opponent and the description of his rememberance proves it.

I've never cussed so much in my life when I actually killed him I wasn't even happy was more disappointed that he made me his play thing for 5 hours
I just think a lot of people tend to have very OP dmg by this point in the game. This is easily one of the hardest bosses in the game if you have to properly execute the mechanics several times over before you can do enough dmg to kill him. I'd say he and Malenia are the two hardest bosses in that regard (aside from a few cheap gank fights that force you to just run around and wait for a random chance to land something), but people can't afford to make as many mistakes against Malenia, because even if they can survive her dmg, she heals every time they fail to dodge or parry.

@@cristianchelaru8053 Yeah Idk why people thought he was challenging, maybe they're not playing the game properly? Idk
Is this your first souls game? If so then it's understandable that you struggled against him - considering how fast he is I guess people got caught panic rolling. I found his move set to be straightforward once you get the timings down, it took me two hours in total to beat him at level 60.
@@angelslayer9567 His movement around the arena is fast but I don't consider his attacks to be fast at all. Literally the only thing that made the fight particularly difficult imo, is the visual obstruction and camera angles. In terms of timing, I think he's by far one of the easiest bosses in the game to avoid attacks from, once you know what his combos are. The main thing that can be a pain before you know his moves are the aoe attacks he does at the end of his melee combos, since those quite literally come out of nowhere if you don't know they are coming, especially that huge spherical slash after he swings his sword around in the air.
I have watched this several times but... how come he doesnt get max health reduction after being hit by the black blade slash?

Maliketh and Malenia. Two hardest bosses in the game in my opinion
Maliketh was harder for me than Malenia. His range was dumb
Sometimes bosses gets nerfed but in this timeline players needs a huge nerf
Indeed😂
I think Maliketh just needs to have more HP while toning down his oneshot. It's better to have a longer fight where the boss doesn't oneshot people with 50 vigor. But I feel like that was part of their balancing strategy. Everything lategame can pretty much oneshot you which is probably meant to counteract the increased player power. I'd prefer if every late boss was just tankier with less oneshots instead. Investing too much into vigor is boring.
No. Nerf yourself. No one is forcing you to use anything you consider to be OP.
@@vergil8833 100% agree tankier with less one shots would be a much nicer overall experience
@@vergil8833 I'd have to disagree, not necessarily about the hp part but more on the damage part. I like the high damage, makes the fight more trilling knowing that if I get hit then the next one will definitely kill me.

Honestly, I feel like Maliketh is easier than Beast Clergyman cuz Maliketh is less erratic and he throws a lot less RoCk. Though i’d say the main move that makes Maliketh dangerous is his mid-air swings.
Im still upset that they nerfed his second phase. They slowed him down quite a lot. He used to be pretty erratic in the second phase

@@duaneashley8194 I'd have you know, I have 30 vigor now. I'm pretty much a tank now.
@@Trizzle2Jernts good! Now pump vigor even higher! Go to forty or fifty!!
@@Trizzle2Jernts 30 vig aint shit
Does the Soreseal make a lot of difference in this part of the game? Been running it since the beginning, thought it was only like a 7% damage increase.
Ya I honestly had some difficulty with maliketh too but was done after around 30 deaths was just very frustrating some of his moves he’s super aggressive it’s crazy
Imagine 50 other players marching up that hill with you before the boss fight 💯🔥
Did anyone else find maliketh easier solo?? I died so many times when I used summons and as soon as I went in solo I swear he was WAY less aggressive. Phase 1 was harder solo but phase 2 so much easier
I didn't use summons but Maliketh was so damn aggressive he basically permanently jumped around without pause. I was surprised at how chill he was here with Asmongold. Phase 1 was super easy in comparison.
Not gonna lie.. it would make more sense if he gained Health after entering second phase than Malenia
Because Malekith is not optional, they avoid making broken bosses that are necessary for story progression, that's the default design. That's why Malenia and Mohg are super strong.
@@gsczo that's true, honestly I don't know what was and wasn't optional, I just beat bosses as I came across them
it doesn't though. It's still maliketh inside the tattered clothes, he hasnt evolved in any form, he just gets a new blade and adapts to using it. but malenia transcends into a god, literally, so its fitting that she gets another bar.
however i will say that malenia recovering HP makes zero sense since all she does is pure physical with her blade, while it would make sense for maliketh to steal life into himself with his blade
🤔 this boss definitely in between he either one shots the ppl I’m helping or they try and attack to soon and get combo to death not to mention the ppl who just hide while I do all the work 😂
02:20 "Fu-.."
And it was at this moment that he knew...
such an epic, EPIC game.
The peak of asmongolds elden playthrough was some time between finishing godric and radahn, because asmond was relatively underleveled and had to actually learn the boss mechanics to progress. In the endgame all he does is backwards panic roll and running jump attacks until he gets lucky enough to kill the boss before it kills him. But he rarely is needing to adapt or learn the fight. Its not "gatekeeping", to say that overcoming a challenge makes for a more entertaining stream than killing every boss with ease to the point you don't have to adapt or overcome anything. In some cases we aren't even able to see the full arsenal of what a boss can do because he kills it in 5 jump attacks.
There has to be a balance of course. He used an OP build and took this guy out before he ever had to really learn his moveset. Then there are other steamers that spend 4+ hours bashing themselves against a brick wall of a boss, and you're just bored after the first 1 hour wishing they would just cheese it, cause every time you try to give them some advice to help them improve their chances, they get pissed at you. They're actually just pissed and tired at the game, but they will take it out on you. This was more common with Souls vets not wanting to adapt to some of the new mechanics.
who cares
He was like 10ft from that first Airbender attack
In every such game the AI has the uncanny ability to start an attack the exact moment you THINK about using a healing item, so by the time the signal goes from your brain to your fingers to press the button and start the animation and subsequent effect, the AI's attack hits in the exact moment after you press the button, so not only do you lose some, if not most, of the health you TRIED to heal, but you also use up the item itself, all for nothing.
Holy hell his damage is insane! This shows me I built a shit character lol.
Likewise 😂
Honestly? Downward jump attack with dual weapons is busted. If you get two very very high damage weapons, you can ALWAYS jump attack even with no stamina left. Once you're airborne, the game has no animation for failing to attack via stamina, so even if you use your very last bit of stamina to jump, you have hyper stamina and can do a double fking downard attack for free. And spam it. It does RIDICULOUS damage with frostbite in one hand and bleed in another. It's like... quite literally busted. Split damage in Elden Ring is actually op as fk. It's like DS1 all over again.
I’m pretty his 99 strength was most of his damage 😂
@@myRailgunYT That too lmao. He's very VERY over leveled somehow. Must have been really grinding.
@@StudioMod whatching the stream he didn´t grind, the game just showers you with exp, i stoped when i got to level 150, but i could easily keep leveling up until lvl 180 maybe even near 200 if i used all my rune items, without stoping to grind.
The comment section be like: "now do it blindfolded"
I'm surprised that I seem to be one of the few that struggled, I kept getting hit and having to panic heal before damage over time killed me, which left me wide up to get wrecked, over, and over again.
If you don’t jump atk like him or you don’t use 1shot spell as a mage ofc you will struggle, let them feel strong 😂
those columns saved his flat a$$ many times
He beat the boss fair and square. He was actually really good at dodging Maliketh's attacks, and he punished when he could.
There’s still going to be people complaining that he didn’t do it with a level 1 dagger or whatever the weakest build is lol.
using one of the best scaling weapons while being overlevel in ng isnt any good. bet he would suck in ng+6.
@@thorbenhinzmann this is what I love about the souls community you don't like people using the good weapons in the game and then state play on ng7 with a broken sword only etc to make it hard.
If the game was hard there's be no need to play through it 7 times for a difficulty spike and if there's weapons that are strong then obviously people will use them either knowingly or unknowingly.
People can use whatever weapon they like.
I got moaned at by the community when I beat dark souls 1 using the gravelord blade on my play through, I enjoyed the sword and thought it looked cool and to me it didn't feel op since it wasn't one or two shotting bosses but apparently it is an op sword and means I didn't play the game properly.
I've never played a souls game through more than once so whatever weapons I pick are because I like them same with armour. I didn't find dark souls 1 hard at all and that was even before getting the gravelord sword. I played other games way harder so dodging was second nature.
Bloodborne I enjoyed way more and think it was the better game. I used the blade from the tower woman forgot her name because I liked it and enjoyed her fight. Again people said that I used an op weapon.
I according to the community wasn't going to see a difficulty spike until ng7 and I was supposed to use the starting weapon.
It's a starting weapon for a reason because you're meant to upgrade.
A game requiring ng7 for a difficulty spike isn't a hard game.
I still thoroughly believe these games would benefit from a hard mode because I don't enjoy them enough to play through seven times just for a slightly harder version. I don't really like the community of these games because all you do is moan at players for not using certain weapons or builds. You hate magic users even though magic has many drawbacks. You hate people like me who only play through once.
The community is a fairly toxic community and this is what drives many players away from these games. I know I prefer to play dark souls offline and when I play elden ring I'll do it offline and use whatever weapon I like the most
@@THETHC123 he played this fight well but watching a lot of his other ones and other streamers they get hard carried by being way overleveled and dont even learn the boss mechanics. I mean even for this fight the dude was doing 1200-1300 a hit lol
Absolutely hated his first phase, it was just bad. I absolutely love his second phase, it had a good kit, it felt fast, dodging his attacks felt like dancing, learning his moves felt great his design is beautiful. 7/10 boss.
Just wait for him to use a beast incantation. It’s a free punish.
Honestly, maliketh is best fight in the game with Godfrey in second imo
@@skinless5136 well everybody has a different taste right ? I for example really loved to fight against placidusax and mohg. That are my favorites.
@@diegomo1413 i am always open for tips so thank you ✌🏻
All of his attacks in the first phase are all physical damage so if you have a good shield and decent stamina you can tank all of his attacks. That’s what I did. I hugged him the whole match, tanking his hits with the shield, and when he finished a combo I countered. It can be a little slow but you’ll eventually see more moments where he’s open (like when he misses with a beast incantation). Plus, I believe he is also weak to fire damage. Of course the shields useless in the 2nd phase so I switched to two handing my weapon then and began dodging like crazy.
Your first attempt at Maliketh was better than mine lol
Literally gave the last boss 2 health bars but not this one ...
I would have liked a full Maliketh fight, his HP is so low, it almost doesn't matter how tough he is.
People will find a way to complain about anything that you do. If you didn’t beat the game using only your fists while blindfolded with the power in your house turned off you didn’t beat the game. People are idiots enough said.
Why do people get so butthurt just because someone complains about OP stuff in the game? Is it an ego thing or something? Can't tolerate the idea that some playstyles are easier than others? Whats the point in getting mad over something so true.
All games have difficulty modes, souls games included. People only get mad ifyou say you play on hard when you really play on normal or easy so whats the point in being so mad about it? If someone goes after you for playing the game on easy mode then it is likely because you've been fronting. Like with Asmon, he knows what hes doing when he acts like everything in the game is easy. Thats inviting easy mode accusations. It's an equal exchange.
Don't let your ego be reliant on the game just because of it's hard reputation if you play a way that makes the game easier. It's not gonna be healthy.
The rules have always been simple. Play the way you want but don't act like an unethical (cheesy) playstyle is ethical. This has never changed, theres just more new people around.
@@vergil8833 you cant knock asmon because he never once used a summon. if we are being honest here, his build is total shit. i mean hes using golden halberd still lol you can get that at the very beginning of the game. if he was plus ten mimic tearing every boss id say you have a point
@@erich1380 his build is not shit, golden halberd is literally broken. It invisibly scales with all stats, vigor mind and endurance included. His powerstanced halberds does more damage than my powerstanced ultra greatswords.
@@grasssnail8348 so you're saying it's top three best weapon in the game?
@@erich1380 You don't honestly think that weapons you can get early on are worse than those you can get later, do you? This is not WoW. Weapons from late game don't actually have automatically higher numbers than those you can get early. You can upgrade any weapon to be viable.
The Golden Halberd has been a bugged weapon his whole playthrough since it scaled with every stat in the game behind the scenes. I think it's fixed now but that matters little when you already have 99 strength and jump attack while power stancing halberds.
And I don't think the thing about summons matter either. Sodapoppin didn't use summons either yet he trivialized most bosses with the big lazer. He didn't cheese any less just because he didn't use a mimic summon aswell.
Multiple OP things can exist at the same time. Some things can be more OP than others, that does not make the less OP things not OP.
The Halberd overperformed compared to other strength weapons, thats why Asmon used it. That would have been fine if it wasn't for the fact that he avoided using the guts sword that he actually wanted to use in favor of the halberd.
None of it actually matters, it just makes it all less praiseworthy. That is all. Anyone can play however they want, they just shouldn't act like it is on the same game difficulty as those who did it in a harder way. Like choosing difficulty modes in other games.
