Oh my goodness, I have been thinking of you all so much!!! And avidly watching the news. I'm not one for praying but over this I will. Please be safe. X
I love seeing your weekly shops Vivi. As someone who is guilty of spending far too much on convenience foods, your videos give me so much motivation to shop smarter 🙂 I hope you feel better very soon x
Hope you feel better soon. I started buying a lot my veg frozen as I’d end up with rotting veg in the fridge. Now I buy frozen sliced carrots, shredded cabbage, Broccoli, cauliflower and sliced peppers. It’s really made a difference for me. I’ve always got veg at hand and a lot less rot to clear out the fridge. It’s great for lazy cooks like me :))))
My strategy as well…went the dehydrating route….the canning route…the meal planning route etc…. And with all ultimately so inconvenient and more work than it was worth settled on freezing what is bought fresh or buying frozen. Less waste all around. 😊
I agree with you - my sister use to say to me it's only a cold - a cold is no fun and you should always take care of yourself when you are not feeling well. Hope you are up and about soon but take care of yourself.
Aww Vivi I went through that when we were moving. I believe that all the stress, good and bad played with my immune system a little. The good news is that we have been here for about a month and it's so worth it when you get on the other side. 🤩
You can feel horrible with a cold! Hugs and sympathy 🤗 Almost certainly a reaction to many weeks of work and stress and uncertainty. A happy outcome (fingers crossed!) but still takes its toll.
A very well thought out shop. The solution is on its way in the form of your very own garden! Toast yourself ! A well deserved treat for a deserving gal ! 🍷 ❤ xx
Good haul for that price. I feel your pain with the lurgy. I got whacked with the worst head cold I have had for decades this week. It’s lingering and now my partner Justin has it. Grim! Feel better soon ❤
I've been blending up my tomatoes in a blender to add to my variations of veggie stew, i.e., end of garden stew. Yesterday, I made fresh Mexican salsa for now and the freezer. The salsa is really good over beans and rice, in enchiladas, or on scrambled eggs or tofu scramble.
Hope you're feeling better Vivi. You got really great deals on everything. What a nice gift for yourself. I think you have every right to celebrate. Enjoy.
Blimey you did well, especially the marmite, what a bargain! I hope you feel better soon, you’ll be at a low ebb with all the stress of the flat sale, so please take care. 🤗
What a deal on those sweet potatoes 🍠 👍 I’d have picked a bag up at that price to make curry for the freezer. Hope you are feeling better now, (I realise this was a few weeks ago now). 😘💕
Hello! Your veggies are cheaper than here in US. Sweet potatoes are about $2.50 a lb. Those apples would be $5. Have you ever taken elderberry syrup to increase immunity during this time of year? I make it out of dried elderberries. I haven't had a cold in over ten years, no flu or COVID either, no vax too. All your soups sound wonderful. I need to expand my veggie dishes, but soups are my go to. Congratulations on the house sale/purchase. I'm so glad for you & your knees. I have 4 types of arthritis & know the pain you experience. Feel better! ❤
Grear shopping day, vivi! You have the makings there for some great meals! I know if I have potatoes, onions and carrots in my pantry, I can make something to eat! Broccoli and apples with a few raisins make a great winter salad and sweet potatoes roasting in the oven smell and taste divine! Go have a good nap. take care if yourself.
Get well soon ,Vivi ❤ Those meals sound delicious. Risotto is such a refreshing flavour and comfort foot at the same time . I agree about the greens and tomato sauce , made for each other. Enjoy . ❤❤
Hi Vivi, Hope you are feeling a little better today. I've tried posting a comment with a link to a marmite risotto I thought you might enjoy (as you had purchased some) but I think I might have breached some guidelines as it keeps disappearing! Oh well, a quick search and I'm sure you would find it. It just looked so warming and hearty... perfect for a cold day! x
Hi vivi. Hope your feeling better soon. That’s a great haul of veg.Glad you treated yourself to some wine, you deserve a treat. I love Savoy cabbage,I love the smell of it cooking. Take care love marilyn x
At your grocery store do they have an area where old and dented produce is significantly marked down? We often have it and some is not usable but sometimes it’s stuff like dented apples or a whole bag of citrus fruit with one bad in the bunch. I get a lot of apples and make apple sauce in water bath canner or you can freeze apple pieces for later baking yummy desserts or just tossing with a little brown sugar and cinnamon or in a savory dish like braised red cabbage. I found myself with two red cabbages so made a slow cooker pot of braised cabbage and added an extra apple bc I had some not as edible as cooking ones. It was super yummy and almost borderline a dessert bc it has a little sugar in it to balance the acid or vinegar. Not sure if that’s your cuppa tea but apples are good cooked with savory dishes and cheaper this time of year and sometimes free. Have you visited your apple tree that you planted in the park or was that a pear tree. I can’t remember. I have to do some apple Sauce soon but have just been having sliced apples and a little cheddar when I need a fast lunch or tired dinner or big snack. It’s a semi healthy tv snack but more like a meal really. Are you entirely done at the allotment now so you can’t get apples there either? Also wanted to say I get semi elderly but still crunchy carrots sometimes at my food bank and I wash them well and keep them in a plastic produce bag from the store twisted shut in the crisper drawer and they seem to last for a long long time that way. I always keep them at the bottom of the drawer and grab out one or two for cooking recipes as needed. I used to her tons of them but not so much now so interesting to hear how you extend the produce Pennie’s since it’s one of the most expensive things. I have been cooking with sales as well and seasonal vs offers is tricky bc you can go in intending for one menu and come out with some frozen veg that are super duper cheap or some on offer item you didn’t expect. I wanted some chocolate and grabbed some choc instant pudding. It was on offer so I came out with three. I was in a hurry and realized I bought three of the kind you need to stand around and stir to make. Lol. Oops. A luxury item but like you and the occasional brew, I need my chocolate for sanity. I’ve learned some super cheap recipes for that indulgence. But the brassicas are defo the option for now and I have some cauliflower I need ideas for. I usually make aloo Gobi if I have it and potatoes which I do so maybe that will be happening. I might make it into riced cauli or just roast it with some olive oil and zaatar seasoning. I learned to make my own zaatar and it’s so much cheaper also. Your savoy cabbage is gorgeous. I remember you making the cabbage pie with puff pastry but don’t know if the pastry is in the budget this week and if you have time to mess around that much in your kitchen or feel like it when sick. Hopefully you made some soup to help your cold. I have an ear and sinus infection I’ve had for weeks now and the only thing that will improve it is rest now. I’ve had all the medicines and even a round of antibiotics but now I’m taking some homeopathic one called Sinemet. If you have a few extra pounds you should try it. My ent doc suggested it and it’s supposed to be better than most of the more synthetic sinus treatments. It’s not cheap but if it works it’s worth it saving you time to further care for yourself in other ways like cooking and such. I would send you some but very right on $ these days too even with help from food bank and such.

That was a nice shop. You will make lots of goodies from that. Marmite is really British isn't it? I just wonder, do you use it in your soups, or on toast? 🙂
We were in the store yesterday. Frozen greens $5 or more per bag. Next aisle, big boxes of sugary cereal…4 for $10. Ridiculous. Started to see shortages yesterday. Eggs & fresh veg not really being restocked. Shuffled around a bit. But old and wilted. Going to try growing kale through this winter. Kind regards! :0)
Absolute madness @@WhatVivididnextI had thought they were banning bogof offers on sweet stuff, but we're still seeing the boxes of sweets and chocolates piled high at Christmas.
Hi Vivi I love your videos and like to be nosey 😃. Would you mind doing some cooking with recipes I’d love to know how you make the dishes that you mentioned xxx
I'm not good with greens tbh. So now I have frozen spinach in a smoothie every day, to get it out the way! I don't dislike it at all. I just forget and am not instinctively drawn to buy and eat.
Hi Vivi, I had to smile when you pulled out the sweet potatoes as I am sat here eating sweet potato curry and rice with beans and lentils to pad it out .I too count my self very lucky if I manage to get a Lidl veg box but I find the price of their veg is always good. Struggling with a head cold my self so you have my sympathy.I hope you feel better soon. Good to see your subscribers raising. I let the ads run so hopefully that may help build your moving fund.

It's so sad that junk food is cheaper than good, fresh stuff. 😢 Happy kale growing....such a fab veg! 😊
Absolute madness @@WhatVivididnextI had thought they were banning bogof offers on sweet stuff, but we're still seeing the boxes of sweets and chocolates piled high at Christmas.
Get better soon Vivi 😷🤒x
Thank you.
Have you got a lidi plus card ,well worth having.
No....I don't have a smart phone.
Hi Vivi I love your videos and like to be nosey 😃. Would you mind doing some cooking with recipes I’d love to know how you make the dishes that you mentioned xxx
They are all in the 'In the Kitchen' playlist. 😊
Aldi were selling Cavolo Nero this morning when I went in to do my shop.
Ooooh, fab! I hope LIdl follow suit. 😊
do you fancy mushrooms, Vivi? just curious ;) I think I haven't noticed you buying them in any of your hauls
I love mushrooms. 😊 I use them in risotto and my favourite brassica pie.
@@WhatVivididnext ooh a pie, interesting 🙃
I'm not good with greens tbh. So now I have frozen spinach in a smoothie every day, to get it out the way! I don't dislike it at all. I just forget and am not instinctively drawn to buy and eat.
Whacking a load in a smoothie is a great way to make sure of at least one portion a day. 😊
