Great vlog Vivi. I remember the first Christmas you did the treats for a tenner. I was so mesmerized by the absolute joy you had with your treats. I told everyone that day how wonderful it was to see the joy you had in seemingly small things.
I love the "treats for a tenner" idea for a group Christmas- the unboxing would be soo much fun! If our family gets back to the UK for a holiday over Christmas I think I'll suggest this 🙂
Instead of a bath, a Radox foot soak is lovely and relaxing, especially if you have a hot water bottle on your lap, a hot chocolate and a book to read!
What a great selection of treats you managed to find this year. I always look forward to this video and I am going to do my own treats for a tenner later today. Enjoy your goodies.
We have been waiting for this !!!! Yay! What a happy coincidence those ladies Led you to the clearance shelf! Oh! The sweets!! I’d have them done in one sitting! I’m so glad you found some great things you REALLY love ( and deserve ) I’m very happy you do this! Thanks for taking us along for the fun shopping !!! ❤ I don’t know Tom’s Midnight Garden . I should like that book. All your treats are related to add up to a wonderful indulgent session!! Enjoy! xx the palmers violets remind me of ‘smarties’ candies we have here!
Wonderful treats Vivi 🥰 In particular the bird book with birdsong. I’m afraid I have fallen into the modern world and have a birdsong app on my phone, but I do still refer to my book for research. I had a surprise visit to my garden from a common firecrest, not so common it seems. I needed to distinguish it from the Goldcrest, their birdsong was the clincher. In other news, I have finally logged into my UA-cam, so here I am commenting. ☺️ Have a lovely day scoffing baklava! xx
Hi Viv~It's so good to see you so happy. I agree with you on your purchases. A few years ago, I took a guided tour of some meadowlands near the shoreline. I live on one of the five Great Lakes (actually they're mis-named, they're really inland seas), While walking through the lovely flower filled meadows, Sky Larks were soaring overhead. It was magical. Thanks for rekindling that lovely memory.
Yay treats for a tenner time!!🎉🎉 what lovely gifts for yourself Vivi, brilliant. My favourite music of all time is Vaughn Williams, The Lark Ascending, transports me every time. Enjoy it all Vivi.🙏❤️😻
Oh Vivi, Parma violets wonderful, You are going to have a sugar high with all those sweet things ! You certainly managed to have a mega haul for your tenner + this year, well done. Don't forget Lidl have Christmas veg for 8p, wonderful for soup. X
Oh my goodness, Tom's midnight garden.... classic 😊😂❤ I love everyone of your treats for a tenner. I've never had the £3.00 cheese item. However, I shall be looking for it. I love radox. And the parmmer voilets and the cherry drops, and yes, I'm salivating 😂😂😂. If I have any money left in the week between Christmas and new year. I'm gunna do treats for me and see what I manage to find 😊 Brilliant video xx
One of my favourite videos of yours each year - your pleasure and excitement really comes across and just goes to show that you don't need to spend hundreds of pounds to be happy. In fact, I would hazard a guess that you get far more delight from your modest treats than many who do spend hundreds as they really are "treats". I don't like baklava as I don't like honey but would love any of the other things you bought. Oh, apart from the Radox as I only have a shower cubicle. I am not able to get in or out of a bath anymore but was never really a wallower when I could. I hope you have a peaceful and relaxing Christmas enjoying your treats and speaking to friends, and fingers crossed for moving news in the New Year (although it seems most solicitors shut down for 2 weeks around now). Thank you for another year of informative and enjoyable vlogs, and for sharing your life's highs and lows.
Bird song - I know that you don't have a smart phone but there is an app called Merlin that identifies birds by their song. In the spring I'd leave my phone in the garden for 10 minutes or so (I'd go back indoors so I didn't scare any away) and it would pick up 10 or 12 birds or maybe more and also record their song so you can play it back. Some were quite unexpected as we hadn't seen them in the garden but if they were singing as they flew over the garden Merlin would pick them up.
One of my favourite things about moving to smart phone was the quick access to information like this. I love Merlin and iNaturalist (for logging my bees) and Picture This for id/ing plants on the go 👍 I still use all my books too, for deeper information when I’m back at home.
Did you know that some of the violet family are edible? In Victorian times they were cystalised and used to decorate cakes. This was the orgin of parma violet sweets, as I understand ir! So lovely to see you excited about your trwats for a twnner Vivi. And quite excused for your 23p over soend! 😂
The Bird book sounds wonderful... never head of the others - but then ages 10-15 I'd only read about horses, think Walter Farley and Marguerite Henry. Today I like light hearted mysteries. Funny, I didn't like being read to as a child at all either. Give me cars/trucks or playing in the mud. Enjoy your treats and Happy Holidays!
Lovely video, when you mentioned skylark, had to look its song up on youtube. And then remebered, in english you categorise people as early birds and night owls. In my language its skylarks and owls😊💖💖💖
Awwww beautiful vlog Vivi 💝 I’m all warm and fuzzy after that. It’s really quite lovely to see your excitement and reasonings behind your treat choices. At this time of year shops are full of quality street/ roses etc as a vegan you miss out on that, so what I do is a fill a tub of sweet treats we can eat and love. Every year I put in Parma violets ☺️💜, (I get a bag for £1 of regular sized packets of them - the size of fizzers, do you remember those?) along side mini packs of love hearts, Vegolino pralines, starburst, Ruffles, Niederegger chocolate covered marzipans and Whittaker coffee creams 😍 This year I’ve subbed marzipan for mummy Meegz chocolate balls, (couldn’t get hold of the marzipan 😔) and picked up Nomo mix mini chocolates for a bargain in H&B 😁 You’ve unlocked a memory for me with Toms Midnight Garden!!! I’m going to have to search my library for it 🥰 Enjoy your treats, you deserve them 😘
I loooove baklava! It's a treat me and my daughter who's nearly 30 share at Christmas time. There's nothing better with a hot creamy hazelnut coffee. Happy holidays Vivi. 😊
We have a bath and a shower, however, I am not able to get out of the bath because of my disability. Instead I use a stool in the shower, not quite the same but it works well for me. It's funny how the only things I want for a treat this year is hot chocolate, baklava and I wouldn't complain if I got a Battenberg cake (which are hard to get in Canada). I really liked the "Birds" book ...that is a real treat. Enjoy!
Vivi, my bathroom has a huge bath and a shower, at 76 with dodgy hips I dare not get in the bath because I’ll never get out. Parma violets remind me of my grandmother, to me they tasted like they had been there for years.
I havent had a bath since my operation in August, can't wait to have one again one day if i ever blooming heal 😅, showers are ok but the books dont half get soggy 😂 Happy Christmas Vivi x
Hiya Vivi, always look forward to the Treats for a Tenner. Oh Parma Violets agree thought they were smaller? tablet/pill size? Can’t remember the last time I had. There is a wee local British shop I was planning on going to, so shall see if they carry however they will be more like $3.00 but likewise the memory will be worth it. Enjoy your bath while you can. Take care Thankyou Luv Ontario Canada 🇨🇦🐝
what fun...... good for you snagging the baklava. I'm curious if that one is made with honey. Lately, the one I make, the one I buy at a wonderful yaya run greek bakery in NYC....they are all made with simple syrup instead of honey.
I love it!! I always look for to your treats for a tender. This year I joined you on the couch with my peppermint coffee and a nip of dark chocolate bar💕💕💕
This is so interesting. Is it the law of diminishing returns? I think because you are strict and frugal you take so much joy in the treats. People who treat themselevs all the time require more to experience the same result. Something to think on. I think those were wonderful choices.
I don’t like flakey pastry - each to their own! I went to a meeting today and they had a dish of chocolates in the middle of the table, and no one took any, except myself! At the end of the meeting the host asked me if I had taken a bag, so I pulled one out, and she tipped in the whole dish full, so I could take them to scouts (they know I go on to a scout meeting afterward every time!). It made me so happy, and the scouts loved them - and there were some left for me afterwards! I haven’t had a bath for years, the only time I get to soak in one, is if I get one in a hotel room when I stay somewhere. I used to have a three foot inflatable paddling pool and filled it with the shower and a kettle!
What a wonderful video. I could practically see that golden eagle from your description. Gave me the shivers. What a fab collection of treats for a tenner 😊
Good fun as a tenner is not much. Would you ever up it? Surely you can afford chocolate and wine now a little esp after moving. I would rather put heating on and not be cold than save soo much. I know we are all different. You do well x
And it is so easy to make! My Greek cookbook recommends buying the phyllo pastry, but does have a recipe to make your own. I buy it. And it recommends using English walnuts and almonds for the filling and the pistachios as a decoration on top. I make a almond roll with rum(They recommend whiskey) that is gorgeous.
@WhatVivididnext and Vivi, if you get in the bath, you can only take one item with you. So either a glass of wine, a cup of hot chocolate OR the baklava!
Great vlog Vivi. I remember the first Christmas you did the treats for a tenner. I was so mesmerized by the absolute joy you had with your treats. I told everyone that day how wonderful it was to see the joy you had in seemingly small things.
Awww, thank you lovely....and here's to many more, I hope. 😊

Can't believe all the stuff you got for a tenner! I'm going to do that too!! Have a lovely day with your treasures! X

I knew you were going to do treats for a tenner. I love it. You get so much for that. And things you love ,no less. Enjoy Vivi. Much love to all.

Love this Vivi, it's my favourite video of the year! Will your current High Street be the same next year when you are in your new flat?

It's the most wonderful time of the year.
How nice to be listening to the birdsong of an evening and relaxing to their songs.

i do remember the violet sweets
see Toms Midnight Garden was published in 1958 the year of my Birth🎉
It makes me happy to see that you have a tenner to spend on whatever you want.
"Treats for an inflation-adjusted tenner" has quite the ring about it
So refreshing after seeing all the mountains of tat people buy!!
Merry Christmas Vivi. I look forward to this video each year.
Enjoy the taste of all your treats, enjoy a lush radox bath, snuggle up with your books and hot choccy enjoy it all.
Yay! I love it when you go wild 🎉. Happy holidays, Vivi ❤
You definitely deserve a raise to the Tenner!
I grew up with a Lebanese grandmother who made baklava all the time. I didn't realize how lucky I was... I thought everyone ate it.. It's the best!
You were indeed lucky! 😊
Been excited for this ❤
We scoffed many a Parma violet as kids.....Swizzels Matlow factory is in New Mills, Derbyshire....my home town.
Lovely video, when you mentioned skylark, had to look its song up on youtube. And then remebered, in english you categorise people as early birds and night owls. In my language its skylarks and owls😊💖💖💖
It's a beautiful song. ❤️
I’m sure Parma violets were not only smaller but a much more violet colour? I love Treats for a Tenner every year!!!
Awwww beautiful vlog Vivi 💝 I’m all warm and fuzzy after that. It’s really quite lovely to see your excitement and reasonings behind your treat choices.

I think so too. A treat is only a treat if it's rare. 😊
I wait for this episode every year! I smiled right along with you as you shared each item! Merry Christmas!
Aww, thank you! 😁
Vivi have you seen the movie The Big Year? It’s from 2011. It’s a funny movie about two bird enthusiasts. I think you’d enjoy it.
No, I haven't even heard of it. Hmmm....I wonder if I can find it on-line? Thank you! 😁
We call 20 'a score'!!!!
Bet there's a book in there.
I don’t like flakey pastry - each to their own!

Great haul Vivi. Such a good selection of treats. I can't believe how close we are to Christmas now.
Ditto.....it has certainly crept up on me this year!
Merry Christmas Vivi- this video made me so happy, I could feel your genuine happiness & enjoyment. 😊❤
Enjoy all of your treats Viv. Love your excitement. X
Good fun as a tenner is not much. Would you ever up it? Surely you can afford chocolate and wine now a little esp after moving. I would rather put heating on and not be cold than save soo much. I know we are all different. You do well x
We all are so used to the treats for a tenner annual event!!
Enjoy your Christmas treats Vivi… such a wonderful tradition for you and for us 😊
Options hot chocolate is not cheap 😂 5 pounds in some places
Wow, I really did get a bargain!
It should be treats for 2 tenners then! 😂
Was going to say similar Treats for a double Tenner ? Lol 🐝🇨🇦👋🏻
Now I am craving baklava 🙂
And it is so easy to make! My Greek cookbook recommends buying the phyllo pastry, but does have a recipe to make your own. I buy it. And it recommends using English walnuts and almonds for the filling and the pistachios as a decoration on top. I make a almond roll with rum(They recommend whiskey) that is gorgeous.
Me Too🇨🇦🐝👋🏻
I have a box of Radox in my bathroom since 1908.
Hahahaha. 😉
@WhatVivididnext and Vivi, if you get in the bath, you can only take one item with you. So either a glass of wine, a cup of hot chocolate OR the baklava!
@@SuperNorini ....a book too, please! 😉
@@WhatVivididnext OK just bring a tray.
