I Saw This Show...it's at The Bandshell in Daytona Beach, Florida. Where I used to live for about 30 years. I wasn't planning on going to the Show because of work, The night before the concert The Fixx announced they would be playing at a small motel in Ormond beach, we went to that show and it was Incredible, small room (maybe 500 people), I was so close to Cy, I could touch him...I had bought their new album, and they played All of it...they Sounded So Good !!! After the Show, we met some women (Spring Break) and partied until Dawn !!! Then I was so Hungover... I called in sick to work... and felt better by Noon and went to the Concert on the Beach !!! and saw them a second time in 24 hours !!! Daytona was a lot of Fun in the 80's!!!
Cool story that most can't relate to but I feel ya. If any of you get a chance to see them...go. Cy and the boys put on a great show and you won't be disappointed.
Batphink Reynolds Well now you know a genuine born in the hills of Appalachia Fixx fan. My ancestors were Scotch/ Irish /English and music was always a big part of my family’s life. Music connects us all.
Saw them in 1991 in Ottawa, Canada at the National Arts Centre... best show I have ever seen, a sensual sonic assault on your senses, heart and soul. Simply a group of insanely talented individuals making beautiful noise. Peace and Music.
They're still at their best live. I've seen them three times - in 1997, 2002, and 2004. It's amazing that they've been touring almost nonstop for over a decade now, after their mainstream success in the 80's.
Saw the guys play in Atlanta GA on Sunday the 3rd of June at the Virginia-Highlands Summerfest. Cy, Rupert and the rest of band looked and sounded great. One of the best bands of the 80's still rocking strong!
I saw The Fixx last week, same lineup that you see here, truly amazing in this day and age that they have stayed together and continue to relentlessly tour. They sounded just as good last week as they do here. Jamie West Oram simply creates layers of sound out of his guitar that never disappoints. I'm glad they got to perform at Spring Break back in '89, totally deserved the exposure. Great muscians, all of them.
i've always been a Fixx fan but have only recently seen them live i the last few years (twice)......most excellent.....I can't recommend seeing them enough....go see them people, you won't be disappointed ;)
Right on Ken, their music was far more sophisticated than many. I think the Fixx had some of the most innovative melodies and lyrics of any popular band over a 20 year spread. Each of the bandmembers were VERY talented in their craft and me being a guitarist, their guitarist was incredibly creative.
Very underrated band in my opinion. I've loved them for years. People saw them as a MTV video band solely. Their music is very layered, full of teriffic melodies and of course the dancable rhythms. Go see them perform, friends. Awesome is an understatement.
A band whose music never ages. In other words if you were to hear the band for the very first time today you'd think they were just new to the music industry, whereas they are in fact almost 30 years YOUNG!
Excellent, Cy looks so cool! Their stuff seems so hard to do live that I always expect them to fail, but they don't. Very cool, great sound, great energy and totally original
Saw them at 1983 Comiskey park...the concert featured Ministry, the Fixx, Joan Jett and the Blackhearts, A Flock of Seagulls and the Police. The Police were the best act with this the first show of the Synchronicity tour and after a long hiatus.
For the first time in my life! I got into The Fixx over here in New Zealand when a local covers band called 'The Vision' completely nailed 'Stand or Fall' and 'Lost Planes' when they played at a local watering hole called 'The Whitehouse Lounge Bar' in those wicked '80s. A friend of mine gave me the LP (vinyl) 'Reach The Beach' for my 20th birthday in 1983 (Nov). I played that LP until the needle on my turntable wore out and I knew every single lyric off by heart. 'One thing leads to another'..
I remember seeing them in concert Here in Tijuana, Mexico, in a place called Iguanas, the year ? dont remember, and i had the T-shirt, Awsome concert singing and jumping all of it . . .good old memories . . . .The Fixx is Forever . . .
Saw them at their zenith in the 80's when all of this was relevant back then. Nice live track. Met them at X-fest in Tijuana as well as at several other small shows around San Diego when they came through town. It would be great to see them live again when they pass through here in Portland.
Agreed. Live is where they really shine. I think some people might be surprised to find they're a little different from what they might expect. When their videos were getting play on MTV in the early- and mid-80s, they were lumped in with the fashionable "new wave" movement along with Duran Duran, Flock of Seagulls and that ilk. But their music is far more sophisticated than typical new wave, and live they are purely a hard rock band: long hair, loud guitar, powerful vocals & tons of energy.
I saw this band with Wang Chung on the same night at a casino about 10 years ago. They were as terrific as ever! Can you detect a U2 influence here? I can. And looka dat guitarist, how he jams!
That is what I kind of said last night. The bands with the quality are still around, and this band has a lot of quality. And I LOVE DAYTONA!!!!! SPRING BREAK ROCKS!!!! (But I already graduated if this is 89.)
My Best friend is in a National band, or I should say international band opening up for acts such as AC/DC and being on tour with Motley Crue, and we both agree this shit is way better then what they are.... Its just not the same..
it's all about money.....unfortunately...and the Fixx were all about art....very rarely a band can do both, be artsy and popular...but then, we wouldn't be able to think and talk about the awesomeness of The Fixx....for you and me, it aint about the money, its about the music.....and The Fixx were the fix....cheers.
Check out "Shuttered Room, " "Reach the Beach" and "Phantoms"! (Although all their albums are great.) They've got a new one coming out next week, too. :)
Cause the people who own the music industry now DON'T want you to discover bands like this. They want you to listen to their trendy, flavor-of-the-month acts they peddle as "music" nowadays. REAL bands like The Fixx, making music with substance and not primarily for money, are not profitable in today's music industry. You have taken a step towards "breaking free" from the "mainstream music industry" BUT, there are many more excellent bands like The Fixx out there to be found... Keep searching..
@RubHerSoul1 Bud like Heineken is more or less tasting like piss except in the dessert. But Belgian beers like Stella and Wieckse Witte, Trapist and so on are the real beers and the tasty and good stuff...
I only differ from you in that there are a few heavy metal artists I can appreciate, and I hate 100% of rap. *laugh* I don't think they really "fell off the map after Phantoms." IIRC, WALKABOUT, CALM ANIMALS and INK were their next 3 albums, and all except INK did well. CA had some radio 'hits' like "Driven Out," "Subterranean" and "Precious Stone," and INK had "All Is Fair." After INK in '91, however, they didn't put out another album until '98, mainly 'cuz grunge had taken over.
Likewise. They stood out for the two reasons you mention, plus Cy Curnin was a great singer and they were great songwriters. They had real musical knowledge and intelligence and weren't limited to writing songs based solely on a simple, quirky synth hook. Unlike the aforementioned 80s synth-driven bands, these guys' albums weren't just one quirky hit single and a bunch of filler. Oh, and they had a real drummer instead of a godawful drum machine! *laugh*
Wow! Fantastic live version of this song! Long guitar solo over that sinister, pulsating beat....I could listen to it for hours. That guitar player is absolutely as good as The Edge (u2) but I don't even know his name! Totally underrated band.
The guitarist is Jamie West Oram. GREAT player. They started out as sort of a "crossover" band -- half rock, half new wave -- but before long they discarded the skinny ties and new wave style and became a full fledged hard rock band. I saw them on the tour for the "Ink" album ~ 1991 or 92, and they were amazing. I had no idea how good Jamie was, but he really stretched out live in terms of longer solos (than on the records) and more aggressive playing. He's one of my fave guitarists.
I love the Fixx, and I try to see them every time they come through my city. The first time I saw them was in 1982 in Fresno, CA. I was totally hooked from the first time I heard them in the early 80s, and I have most of the albums they put out. I can't wait until they come back around again! :)
That's true. *laugh* Back in the late '70s they could rock hard when they wanted to, but I never considered them metal either. Not even close. I was just gonna add that if you haven't heard any of their post-PHANTOMS albums, you should. All 3 I mentioned earlier are pretty good, particularly CALM ANIMALS. And I thought INK was shamefully underappreciated. There's at least a half dozen really good tracks on it. Problem was it came out in '91 when grunge ruled, and that was that. :-(
Okay, I guess we're just dealing with semantic differences. Most people would consider VH and AC/DC heavy metal, but some would just call 'em hard rock. I guess it depends on one's point of view. Heck, back in 1980 REO Speedwagon was considered heavy metal by some people. *laugh* I too almost shut the radio off in the mid-80s. AOR changed dramatically in So. California ~ 1983 and never recovered. I'll occasionally tune in the local "classic rock" station in the car, but that's it.
Zoning out but trying to keep it together...looks like he just woke up. And the long sleeves? It's Spring Break on a Sunny day for Christ sake. Must've just flown over from the UK and jumped off the plane.
One of the great, underrated bands from the 80's. The "real deal". I have this (extended version) on my i-pod, and listen to it often (my i-pod library is very eclectic, all kinds of genres). This is a great live performance. No lip-synch here. Cy's antics crack me up sometimes! 0:31 lol.
These guys were so underrated. I am so glad I saw them just a couple of months ago. They sounded so sharp. Just like Rush and ZZ Top and Genesis - they've been together for so long they know exactly how to play their best.
I'm "Black, whatever that really means and I miss those days. The producers killed music. They've lined their pockets well. Why have a band when we can do the same with one person who can't sing? FAKE! I despise most of the noise they call music today! The Fixx are real Artists and Musicians! Peace. REPLY
I want all their albums on iTunes, not just the best of stuff. Where do I find walkabout??? Love these guys. I think I saw them first in 83 or 84. I remember learning to sing to Stand or Fall when I was 14.
I saw this band multiple times in smaller venues in Boston when i was younger and they never failed to deliver a great show. They were tight and loud and I can't wait for their new release. I just heard Cy on a radio show the other night and he sounded great and in good health. Rock on guys!
That's the best Live version of Deeper & Deeper! Ever!
One of my favorite songs from one of my favorite bands. This is a particularly well performed version of Deeper and Deeper.
The Fixx's music always has a way of intertwining with my soul and taking me to another place.
Well said❤

Love the Fixx and have seen them several times...this is my top 10 all time UA-cam videos
Cool story that most can't relate to but I feel ya. If any of you get a chance to see them...go. Cy and the boys put on a great show and you won't be disappointed.

I was their day after concert great times spring break
This song just blew me to the moon! On a scale of 1 to 10, I give this song an 11!
+Troy Neighbors Fully agree! The guitar riffs and keyboard 'waves' are out of this world!
I agree also. Easily my favor Fixx song. Red Skies not far behind.
Saw them last night! Still an insane concert!
At least you got blown!
l, 12
Credits in the 1984 film "Streets of fire" have this song as background. Amazing.
I saw The Fixx last month. They opened with Deeper and Deeper, and totally nailed it. Such a great band.
Saw them in 1991 in Ottawa, Canada at the National Arts Centre... best show I have ever seen, a sensual sonic assault on your senses, heart and soul. Simply a group of insanely talented individuals making beautiful noise. Peace and Music.
Off the charts - even for them!
One of my all time favorite videos!!! Deeper and Deeper whoaoa!
This is phenomenal!!!

Yes! So timeless these tunes. Maybe way ahead of their time. But always love the Fixx.
Excellent, Cy looks so cool! Their stuff seems so hard to do live that I always expect them to fail, but they don't. Very cool, great sound, great energy and totally original
Saw them at the Stockton Asparagus Festival years ago. Epic.
The longest most haunting guitar riff ive ever heard starting at 2:24 wow !
Thank you, THANK YOU!! The best of the 80s
This year marks the 30th anniversary of Cy and the boys, "Red Skies" crashing into my life and they have NEVER left!!!!!
Saw them at 1983 Comiskey park...the concert featured Ministry, the Fixx, Joan Jett and the Blackhearts, A Flock of Seagulls and the Police. The Police were the best act with this the first show of the Synchronicity tour and after a long hiatus.

Less fluffy comment, the Fixx is a great 80s new wave band, had all their cassettes back then.
Just saw them live 2 nights ago and they're as strong as ever.
Yep, saw them last night in St Louis, amazing concert !

yo creci con estas canciones, cuando se hacia musica de verdad.
This is by far their best song!
Im 29 why am i just discovering this band?
First song I heard was red skies
That is what I kind of said last night. The bands with the quality are still around, and this band has a lot of quality. And I LOVE DAYTONA!!!!! SPRING BREAK ROCKS!!!! (But I already graduated if this is 89.)
great great
very, very deep....awesome.....
Such an awesome vid...seeing this made me want to cover this song w/ my band....
My Best friend is in a National band, or I should say international band opening up for acts such as AC/DC and being on tour with Motley Crue, and we both agree this shit is way better then what they are.... Its just not the same..
more hooks in this song than many albums.
Someone should get glasses.I saw them over here and they were terrific! They really rocked us! Check out my favorites!
RIP Rupert Hine.
This live version just flickin' rocks, wish it was HD or CD quality, I'm going to steal the audio anyways!
Goddamm these guys are Amazing!!!
Like it
how do they do get the studio sound of layers of keyboards on stage so good ?
braviiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiii The Fixx ~
it's all about money.....unfortunately...and the Fixx were all about art....very rarely a band can do both, be artsy and popular...but then, we wouldn't be able to think and talk about the awesomeness of The Fixx....for you and me, it aint about the money, its about the music.....and The Fixx were the fix....cheers.

@fixx1248 They have every year for the past 30 except for the 2 years Cy was selling Women's Hats and Jamie played on the Tina Turner Tour.
Why don't they ever do the cool synthesizer intro from the studio version?
where is this concert?
It's a REAL shame that they didn't break big in their home country - are they ever going to tour here?
They changed the whole song, I like the album version.
Which album? They did a longer version to close out "Streets of Fire" in 1984.
this is what bands do live.... if you dont like it listen to the original.
Cause the people who own the music industry now DON'T want you to discover bands like this. They want you to listen to their trendy, flavor-of-the-month acts they peddle as "music" nowadays. I want the real version
If we label Mozart "classical," does that negate it?
@RubHerSoul1 Bud like Heineken is more or less tasting like piss except in the dessert. But Belgian beers like Stella and Wieckse Witte, Trapist and so on are the real beers and the tasty and good stuff...
20 dislikes are going deeper....

check out Joy Electric
You've found gold my friend.
good question, i was wondering the same. the guitar riffs on this song are amazing.
one of my favs for sure...brings out energy for sure..wow great vid
Wow! Fantastic live version of this song! Long guitar solo over that sinister, pulsating beat....I could listen to it for hours. That guitar player is absolutely as good as The Edge (u2) but I don't even know his name! Totally underrated band.
Agree with you totally... his name is Jamie West Oram & has also supported greats such as Tina Turner live!
Even with the grainy almost black and white video, This is still one of my favorite UA-cam videos....it kicks ass
The guitarist is Jamie West Oram. GREAT player. They started out as sort of a "crossover" band -- half rock, half new wave -- but before long they discarded the skinny ties and new wave style and became a full fledged hard rock band. A man after my own heart !!! Cy Curnin is singing through a Shure SM 57 instead of a 58 . You can get closer to the diaphragm on an outside show.
I love the Fixx, and I try to see them every time they come through my city. The first time I saw them was in 1982 in Fresno, CA. I was totally hooked from the first time I heard them in the early 80s, and I have most of the albums they put out. I can't wait until they come back around again! :)

OMG,, l love this Band"Cy" is a little strange but it turns me on.
Cy is a bit strange...but in a good way. I saw the Fixx play last year. They are an underrated band.
My favorite Fixx song. And this live version is the best!!!!
ANY 1 GOT A EARLIER VERSION OF THIS SONG
One of the great, underrated bands from the 80's. The "real deal". I have this (extended version) on my i-pod, and listen to it often (my i-pod library is very eclectic, all kinds of genres). This is a great live performance. No lip-synch here. Cy's antics crack me up sometimes! 0:31 lol.
Right on! He gets into his own groove. He has his own style. He isn't a clone for sure. Peace.
santa cruz beach boardwalk, august 17, 2012
What the heck is the guitar player doin???
what's the name of the guitar player?
Pink Floyd.
I wish they put more energy into the "Further I Fall" part. That is my favorite part of the song.
Loved the closing credits in 'Streets Of Fire' with this gem... played it over and OVER and OVER AGAIN for HOURS.🤙😎... No place to hide ANYMORE!!!!
embarraising
These guys were so underrated. I am so glad I saw them just a couple of months ago. They sounded so sharp. Just like Rush and ZZ Top and Genesis - they've been together for so long they know exactly how to play their best.

I didn't know the reason they had the extra X in their name. Interesting. I guess it makes sense and was probably a good move.
Its true a very sexy romantic sound when you hear it live...
I was more into heavy metal but their guitar players are awesome . A great concert band .
@n8tureboy
thanks, yeah, I'd buy from Amazon, I don't buy from eBay, had a couple of bad experiences.
I saw these guys play last year at the Hollywood Bowl. They put on a great show!
I saw them last night in LA and they opened with this song......7/24/08
SM57s for vocals?
They have the magical thing; Everything fits!
This man gives me chills when he sings Cy curnin
This is a good song, I like it! sweet,, :)
