University of UA-cam saved the day again. I could not figure out WHY the damn popup wouldn't unscrew. You were the first (after about 8 tries) video to show the SETSCREW! It took 30 seconds to open it, replace the rubber O ring (there was NONE, no wonder it leaked). Saved me a plumbers call. Thank you for the $75.

BINGO... you had just the answer I was looking for. Every other video said "just push the stopper inward a bit and start twisting" or "look for the screw"... not a single one mentioned holding the stopper and unscrewing the pull-knob itself. Once I removed the knob, I stuck a flat had screw driver in and gave it a firm twist to the left and everything came out without issue. The blockage was right there underneath the stopper and I didn't even have to snake the drain. Everything is as good as new, thanks!

I ran into another variation of the knob stopper. The knob unscrewed pretty easily but there was no slot for a screw driver. Turned out I needed a pair of needle nose pliers to hold the shaft while unscrewing the stopper to remove it. There was then a colar with 2 flat sides which the shaft moved within which needed to be turned with a wrench or pliers to remove it.

After I remove the top thumb screw the stopper is loose, but there is a D washer on the brass stem that holds the stopper. The brass stem is flared so the D washer can't be removed. The flare has a small slot on each side and the D washer can fit into one side or the other, but still can't be removed without prying it off. Is that how it's done, prying it off?
