If hair goes down the drain it's going to cause a clog somewhere along the line,most likley is the trap or on the next bent. The screen is there to prevent that. I can't imagine why you would want to just send it down rather than find an effective way to stop it and maintain flow. Like a better screen or a hair catching mat. Just seems like a bad idea to send it down.

What about galvanized pipes as they have a lining of I think zinc to somewhat prevent corrosion. Or if the pipes where freshly installed what about metal ones then.

Hair can cause clogs deeper in the pipes, though this can be easily mitigated using drainO or another clog-clearing chemical. Cool product, almost makes cleaning the drain unnecessary.
