Thank you so much for this video! I have been wrestling with my drain stopper for a month now, and just resolved it! Many Thanks!
Went through 5 different videos, this is the only one that helped.. Thanks!
Great to hear!
This was very helpful and to the point. Exactly what I needed to get inside the stopper and remove the clog.
Thx! That's awesome!
This is the first comment I have ever left on a channel, but I must thank you tremendously helpful
Thx! Much appreciated! Glad it helped!
you are the only one of the many I looked at that showed the flathead screwdriver method. Which as it turns out is the one I needed! I tried several of the others to no avail. Thank you!
Thx!! Glad I could help!
Thank you so much. Mine had the set screw inside. You saved me. I was ready to give up.
Clyde, I do appreciate the fact that you took the time to cover all common drain stoppers. I have already been on here for 40mins looking for my particular style stopper and have seen every stopper except the one I have...and then this gem. THANKS CLYDE!
Awesome! Thank you!
Thank you! This was so helpful. I am a relatively new homeowner and did not realize that my drain could have a set screw. It is a black screw, so it was really hard to see if you weren't looking for it! Saved me a lot of headache! Tub drain is fixed!
Nice!!!
Short and straight to the point. Thanks Clyde!
Thx! Glad You Like It !
Thank you for the information, mine had a Phillips head set screw. Made clearing the years of accumulated hair very easy, now the drain runs beautifully. Should have sought this out, wasted money on,over a half dozen super drain cleaner treatments that did little to nothing.
Thank you, Thank you! We had to hold the main shaft part with pliers and unscrew the round knob and then use a flat head screwdriver to remove the shaft. So glad we didn’t have to call a plumber!!! Drains beautifully now. 🤠
Nice!!!
This was the right video! Pressure counterclockwise.
Thank you very much
Thanks for a short and very informative video.
I love short and straight to the point videos.
Thx! That's My Goal !!
Very helpful and detailed information. I had a nasty clog full of hair, and I spent 1 hour trying to figure out how to remove the drain plug. This video nailed it, and my tub works excellent now.
Awesome! Mission Accomplished!
Saved me a headache!!! Thanks!!!!
Such a great video, I appreciated seeing all of the variations in such a short time.
Thx! Glad you enjoyed it!
Finally I got it!! The information and display tutorial was on point. Ours had the screw on the side and I was twisting counterclockwise for a long time 😂 before I came across this straight to the point and extremely helpful video. Thank you x100000
Awesome! Mission Accomplished!
Hi! for the second variation with the set screw is there a way to get the shaft out or is it supposed to stay there? I’ve been trying to twist the shaft out so I can add a hair catcher but it doesnt seem to work…
Your video was a hit for me, I thank you very much, I needed it, and I hope the other folks come up with a solution.
Thx! Glad You Like It !
Thank you so much your advice helped me get my stopper off in less than one minute
Glad it helped!
Thank you, I was so ready to call maintenance because I thought my stopper was too small
YES!! THANK YOU !!!!!!! My bathtub always got clogged taking a shower, girls hair was all in there!
Thank you. You covered the type I have. Thanks for making this video!!
Thx! Glad it was helpful!
Thank you, sir. You saved my day today :)
Thank so much, I was going crazy trying to get the first one off
Thx! Glad I could help!
Thank you. Your video actually helped me. I had to get some pliers
Glad I could help!
This helped in a bind, thanks!
You're welcome!
My tub drain unscrews at the top but when that is off there's a D washer underneath. The D washer is preventing the stopper from being removed because the top of that stem is flared, holding the D washer. The flared stem has a groove in it, so you can slide the washer underneath the top but I still don't see how to remove it. Do you pry off the D washer? I'm afraid it will bend/damage it.
Thank you. Very helpful
Thank you for this! 🙏🏼
You're so welcome!
Thank you! I have the first kind of stopper you showed. Mine was pretty stuck. I grabbed the pliers and holding it vertically, I grabbed the large round part, twisted it counterclockwise a little and it came right off.
Very Good !! Thx for posting !!
You’re a god send man, appreciate this video!
Thx! Glad it helped!
Thank you! Extremely helpful and kept me from having to call a plumber
Kewl!!!
Excellent. I had to hold the shaft with pliers to get the knob off (using another set of pliers) and then take it out with a screwdriver. Thank you.
Very Nice! Glad this can Help!
I live alone and i have to be my own man. This video really help me how to fix the basic problems in bathroom. Thank you. Now i can remove all the gunk in my bathtub.
Very Nice! Glad this can Help!
Thank you so much. Your video was so helpful. I did not know that there is a rotate screw below the top. This seems to be too difficult to get it out. Want to replace with an easy top rotate type.
Just check the thread size & get any type you like!
Thanks, this was helpful!
Kewl Thx!!
Clyde,
I tried turning my drain stopper counter-clockwise and it did not come out. I viewed it close up and determined that there was no set screw. I tried to remove the knob with a pair of pliers and it did not turn. Do you have any recommendations? Thanks.
John
A very helpful and informative video thanks for posting.
Thx! Glad it was helpful!
Great instructions!
Thx! That's awesome!
thank you never would’ve known about the set screw
Thanks and welcome!
You are a master ❤️
just tell them they may drip the screw inside the sewer if it is too loose ...
Thanks for the tip for they second type.
Ohhh Yeah Thx!!!
Thanks for the info. I’ve been trying get my pop up stopper off for a year . After seeing this it came off in less than a minute
Thx! That's awesome! Glad this helped!
yes, helpful...kept at the pressure and turning counter clockwise, it eventually came loose and wulla...thank you for your post
Thx!! Glad it helped!
The rubber thing that’s underneath the stopper keeps on plugging my tub . I don’t have a lever to keep it up from plugging the tub up. Is it safe to remove the rubber so it won’t plug it up
I was 30 seconds away from calling a handyman I F@@@ with this POS design for 20 minutes until I ran across your video. I used a pair of channel locks to hold the big part of the stopper and another pair to unscrew the little part of the stopper and there was a flat head screw under that little stopper Wala, it came out. Thank you, Clyde.
Awesome! Thank you!
Thank you so much, this help out a ton.
Thx!! Glad it helped!
😀Thank you! Finally a video that helped!!!
Brother you are a life saver thank you!
Thx! Glad to hear it!
Thanks!! This helped knee remove my popup one in the tub. I assumed it was stripped because I couldn't untwist it. I removed the decorative cap and used a screwdriver. Then I was able to clear the drain of hair and gunk. Probably solved. THANKS.
Very Nice! Glad this can Help!
How do you get the rest of it out
Awesome, thank you!
You're welcome!
Thank you - this helped!
Glad it helped!
Thank you so much! ❤❤❤😊
Any time!
Oh, I'm going to try that, I think mine is on 0.52 seconds. I'll try! Thank you so much!
Kewl Thx!
THANK YOU!❤
You're welcome 😊 Thx for watching !!
Thank you very much just fixed mines just now I had to use the flathead to take mines out lol😅
Thank you, because of your video I became a better husband today. The amounts of hair I saw in the tub it’s incredible. This reinforces how much I love my wife after seeing an equivalent of a wig worth of hair haha.
Lol Nice!!
Thank you!
You're welcome!
I need the cap with the set screws in them at marker :22-:33 (where the shaft stays in the cross bar). My cap is missing so I need to find a replacement so I can actually plug the drain to give kids a bath.. where can I get those and what are they called? Please help!
Ok.....

The Fast way!
Or ..Remove the post with pliers...Take to Lowes...Get the right thread ..and buy a replacement ....
The fast way is a flat stopper above the drain plug...This site contains product affiliate links. We may receive a commission if you make a purchase after clicking on one of these links.

Thank you Sir! Problem solved.
Great!
Yay! I didn’t waste my time to get it off!!
Kewl!!
Thanks ❤
No problem!
So glad I wasn’t the only idiot who couldn’t figure this out
Lol Glad to Help!!
Finally worked
Nice!!
Make a video on how to remove stubborn bathtub foot drains where the crossmembers are broken off
What about the one that says open and close on the sides
I had the first kind of stopper but it was just twisting and not coming up. There was calcium that had stuck the bottom part to the drain, and it was just spinning. So I knocked it in the side a bit too loosen up the stuck threads and break up the lime, and then it twisted right out.
Nice!!
Thanks
No problem!!
Tried and failed so many times but the Alan wrench was the winning tool!
Kewl Thx!!
Drain broke off at the base of the stem following these instructions
Maybe you didn’t follow as well as you think you did 🤔
The first one displayed was mine, and it came right off. Thank you! I've subscribed!
Awesome! Thank you!
My cap unscrews but there's no screw inside to unscrew the white part from the bathtub.
Awesome thanks “dad” lol❤
Thx!!! Any time!
I was able to remove the stopper but the shaft stayed in the crossbars. Should it screw out? It doesn't want to budge
I’m having the same problem. There’s nothing to grab onto it, did you have any luck getting it out?
@@sidthekid7321 I sprayed some WD-40 on it and let it sit overnight and then was able to twist it out
You can clean it with the shaft in....If you are replacing it with a new one the shaft will come out...Like some people are commenting try WD40....
@@mirovick I took a 2nd look at it an hour later, grabbed onto it with a wrench and it came off! Cheers!!
I have the opposite problem. The lady of the house unscrewed it but now i cant get it to stay and spin, it just unscrews every time. Of course im out of threadlock but is there anything elsse i can try? The mechanism seems pretty stiff going up and down, maybe it just needs some grease so it doesnt stick so much? Its not even two years old it shouldnt be having any problems yet...
It should move up & down easy....if you can't free it...I would replace it...If you use threadlock it won't come out again...then that's another problem..!
@@basicworks1 it's very stiff going up and down, way stiffer than it should be after twenty years let alone two. I'll try a few things to loosen it up like it's supposed to be and if those don't work I'll replace it. Thanks
Sounds Good!
FYI I had the same issue with the damn flat head that is immovable under the little twist off top, but you can stick some needle nose pliers down into the drain and twist out the ENTIRE drain. May not be the “best” way, but it worked for me…
Still can't get mine off. Top little know just unscrews and leaves me hanging with nothing. Hour later 4 videos still can't get it off
Same have you figured it out??
Same😭
Same. I can unscrew the small part on top that you grip with with and that’s it
I figured mine out! That big flat screwdriver looking thing? It DOES twist with a wide enough screwdriver and enough elbow grease. Had I known in advance how gross my drain was I might've poured a little CLR down there first.
Yes! There is a small screw underneath the drain. I would either use your finger to feel it or take pictures with flash! Get a screwdriver and unscrew it. It takes a bunch of twists so keep going! 😂
Yep I felt the flat spots and figured I'd have to grab it with pliers but I was hoping it was something simpler. Thanks!
Thx! That's awesome!
Thank you! Who would of thought there could be such variation? I can't afford (either monetarily or the embarrassment) of ''around the house'' maintenance and repair evading my ''skills''!
Glad I could help!
Mine just keeps rotating. There is no horizantal screw and the shaft remains still. It has a ribbed knob at the top. I'm thinking it's the one on 0:52, but it's stuck.
Did U Check This Vid Yet ...
ua-cam.com/video/s60OWi6ZQwA/v-deo.html
Let me know?
Some people may need to twist it down then hold it down and twist it up counterclockwise
While holding it down!
Thx for the comment!
Doesn’t work on mine 😢
U didnt do the open or close one
Hey guys what worked for me was to close it (all the way down: like when you don’t want water going through normally) and screw it off from there. It felt like it was going to break, but it came off
Nice! Thx For Sharing !
❤
Thx!!!
Like know the bastard who invented this…
Mine is apparently frozen- new house construction by Corey rotten Barton. It did come off about 10 months ago but now only spins. What a piece of junk, just like all his cheap fixtures
I’m freakin 12 and I’m doing what ur saying and it’s not working buddy
I’m 12 x 3 and I’m in the same boat
Thanks
Nice! Welcome!
