Hey there, I've been doing theatrical lighting for a while but mostly with conventionals and simple looks. I'm hoping to start branching into moving lights and smart consoles. How are you running this sequence? Do you time code with your Hog or is each change an individual cue you are advancing when the music reaches the right point. Cheers.
Hello. I am currently a student at Full Sail and I would like to be a lighting designer as well. Just seeing this kind of work really amazes me and I would love to one day do this as a profession. Any tips or suggestion on how to get started in acquiring skills? I would really like to know.
Hey im an aspiring guitarist and really cant get a straight forward explanation on lighting, what to buy, what to look out for, who to hire, how to get all looking good and working. If you coudl link me something or maybe help that would be awesome! thanks for your time
Hey Ollie, thank you very much! I enjoyed your video very much, you have obviously put a lot of time and effort in to it! Hope to see some more videos!
Hello, My name is Robert and I am thinking about being a concert lighting designer. But, I dont know if this job aplies to programing lighting and later during the concert use the board? Does it apply to theatre? Is the lighting designer the light board operator?
Hi Dude, depends, some productions are small, so you do both light design and operating. And some productions are big, that are 2 or more people are involved to make the light design and operate it.
Wow guys all this to cover the jelly tot rock from children of God, which eh crane mouse was beneath So templars used horizontal magle mask and different jin to cover the jelly tot rock so the whole thing is just floating on the 7 @ position Thanks fellas you guys rock 😂 Templars
I'm a high school student living in a small mountain town in colorado. I am interested in this lighting and stuff but don't have any access to any big stages with fancy programing and lights. Is there any free or cheap cumputer programs I could get to simulate this or anywhere where I could do an internship with something like this? Thanks.
Clay Kinder Hi Clay, Most lighting console manufacturers have virtual versions of their consoles that you can download for free. Chamsys also include their visualizer which is also totally free. secure.chamsys.co.uk/magicvis There are more and more internships popping up all the time. Backstage Academy is meant to be very good. Hope this helps.
+Clay Kinder There are many world class theaters in the mountains. Breckenridge, Blackhawk, Vail, and aspen have amazing theaters. Also if you go to Church most of them have concert lighting. Church is where I started.
+Ukat. Oyet Do you have access to any lighting equipment? If you do I'd start there and download every manual I can for the gear I have. Good Luck! I know it's very difficult to find things like that out there. Also visit the ETC youtube channel.
Hey Mark, it totally depends on the event and the professional in question. Would you need them to provide the lighting and set all the equipment up or just operate the console? If you need more help I can point you in the direction of technicians / companies in your area, let me know.
Pyrotechnickdude I am interested in learning more. I am in the planning stages of a concert that is taking place in September 2015. May opt for light rental and operation over purchasing the lighting for this first time event. Great song choice for the display by the way. Please contact me at mwm@smakzone.com
OK djkevino mc - a comment like this needs substantiation, which mean you clearly believe you could do better than this. Time to put your money where your condescending mouth is. Please post a video showing the OP and the rest of the world exactly how you would go about doing a better job. Maybe you can - I'd love to see what you can do. If you can't, you owe the OP an apology.
Personally I would Kill to find a Tech that puts this much effort and pride in his work!! Well Done!!

Yeah, no problem.
What does it typically cost to have a professional come and do the lights for a concert?
Hey Mark, it totally depends on the event and the professional in question. Would you need them to provide the lighting and set all the equipment up or just operate the console? If you need more help I can point you in the direction of technicians / companies in your area, let me know.
