@Zanarkke: manual cars are a thing of the ancient world in America. Nobody likes them here except for new immigrants arriving from Europe, Asia, latin America, Africa or other third world countries. You'll be hard pressed to find a significant number of American citizens who drive manual cars (or stick cars as they like to call them). So your advice doesn't work with Americans, unless you want them to give up their automatic cars which they will never do. Try another advice! Good luck! :)
The people that just kept their brakes locked up as they slid need to wake up. Take your foot off the brake and let the wheels spin and you may regain some steering!
@pharmdmsn the worst part is manual transmissions arent available in alot of cars anymore it sucks. i bought a f150 in 07 and there wasnt a manual transmission option available unless i got the small engine. wtf
@prohumets ABSOLUTELY RIGHT. The only guy who smashed a TELEPHONE pole was driving an AWFUL WORTHLESS DIESEL... The only car that caused property damage was the BIG 4x4 TRUCK.
when you say it like this... what's the difference between driving hours on the highway with an auto or manual? you're in the highest gear all the time. do you mean that there's traffic on the highway? or simply downshifting to pass?
he wasn't implying that Europe is a third world country... it was separated by the "'OR OTHER' third world countries" Asia is not third world either, why didn't you mention that? by your logic... he must be implying that Europe is Asia too, think about it.
I drive automatic and I live in Canada and I was born here, I never understand why people why people would rather drive automatic, stick shifter is funner, engages you more in driving, and is more versatile. And yet maybe like 10% of people here drive it.
Do you shift on a highway just for fun or to stay awake? To drive safely you need to take short breakes or you will fall asleep regardless of automatic or not. Hope you dont use cruisecontrol... =)
@harwell288 well the fusion is flyin down so im going to assume all the cars had abs and that still locks the wheels at low speeds and if they are not low speeds its only made to keep the car going strait and thats what it is doing to all the car u cant slame on ur breaks and expect to keep control like so but i think the fusion was all wheel drive with electronic stability control
@pharmdmsn Err no manual cars? Yeah right. Go check a Porsche owner's club, Mini owner's club, Corvette owners club, need I go on? Yes they are less people drive manual. But I don't consider those people "drivers" all they do is hog the fast lane and text while they drive cause accidents and traffic jam.
I agreed with this until i found out that all the good cars, Chevrolet, GMC, Ford US etc. are stock and standard with automatic. Ain't nobody got time for 4 cylinders! ;) but there are some good cars with manuals too
In city traffic (stop and go) automatic cars maybe very comfortable but after hours of driving on a highway for example I would fall asleep behind the wheel. That´s why I prefer manual cars.
@chinch112 That and if she had ABS, which im sure she/he does, that obviously prevented wheel lock. And Also if she had Electronic stability control, that would have helped a whole lot.
the ford fusion only mad eit cause they didnt ride thier brakes the hole way down u can not steer if ur tires are locked up u need to ease off the brakes a little bit
Justin Thyme the white one?i got one too. might slide but thats because i need a change on tires. last years sleet and snow was horrible. i got around streets easily no problem. sharp turns had the most difficulty
the reunionion of summer tyres lovers

0:46 Winter tires ftw
no snow chains did they quite making them?????
No, its not legal in most areas. Especially in cities.
The guy coming down the hill @ 0:47 is in control.
People forget that Ice, Snow, Steep hill, and breaking hard does not go together.
It's like a ballet. Beautiful.

It's too cold outside, let's stick together! *cars pile up*

if drivers see people sliding down the icy road, why would they even attempt to go up the hill?

0:48 thats how you should drive.Stop using brakes
Do you shift on a highway just for fun or to stay awake? To drive safely you need to take short breakes or you will fall asleep regardless of automatic or not. Hope you dont use cruisecontrol... =)
Since when is Europe part of the third world? American education...
Man I'm pleased I'm not there. What godawful conditions to get around in, or not.

I have a great idea! The roads are snow and ice covered, let's go for a drive down the hill!!!
I agreed with this until i found out that all the good cars, Chevrolet, GMC, Ford US etc. are stock and standard with automatic. Ain't nobody got time for 4 cylinders! ;) but there are some good cars with manuals too

@pharmdmsn fuck that! slam on the brakes or hit the gas pedal and give us a show! THIS is entertainment!!!
the ford fusion only mad eit cause they didnt ride thier brakes the hole way down u can not steer if ur tires are locked up u need to ease off the brakes a little bit
@pharmdmsn or drive a manual and lower the gears to get some engine braking to slow the car down, but with the wheels still turning
why dont people just pull over and wait until conditions are better.. like this you only risk beein hurt or destroy your car
i noticed the black pick-up just drove off and didn't exchange insurance information with the other 5 people's car he just hit
Fuck that. I'm happy living in the blistering heat of Southern California where the roads are hot and grippy.
hahahahahahhahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahhahahahahahahahahahahahahahhaa
That black made it because he didn't lock up his brakes. I don't get why people don't get it.
And the trucks suddenly realize, "Geez, my four wheel drive is doing nothing!"
Hee hee hee
in Finland we have theese winter tires for winter and theese tires allso have spikes.
problems like this would never occur, if we had tube transport technology in service.
I love how a lot of them stacks in that intersection
at :37 guy see truck crash into pile of cars, runs towards it! lol
Lol the new ford focus is looking like a good buy right about now
Let this be a lesson to you people don't drive on icey roads
Pump it bay bee Pump it
Best way is to pump dat brake
Notice the Toyota 4x4 made it? That's what I drive too and have no issues in the snow, up or down hill. Manual transmission does great.
Justin Thyme the white one?i got one too. might slide but thats because i need a change on tires. last years sleet and snow was horrible. i got around streets easily no problem. sharp turns had the most difficulty
Fed Ex dude is like "screw this, I'm outta here" lol
why did no one go to top of hill and stop the cars
Doesn't matter the technology, transmission, or size of your vehicle- ice is slippery and it will slide on it.
+Ryan McAtee You don't have to use your brakes when driving a manual transmission. It's all gearing.
looks like a whole city of poor drivers to me...
Wow, that Fusion almost lost it.
That last pickup truck was like "I gotta go off the road to hit that pole, then I'll continue down to get some cars!" lol!
No he made a valiant effort to avoid the white tacoma in front of him that he was going to hit, but then it ended up in the pole hit anyways
HAHA, Wolverine said it best, "rookies!"
in sweden we have no such problems! :P
0:47 bought his winter tires
it's like a big game of tetris.
the red pick up did the best crash :D
All my American friends love manual.

I love Spokane just for this reason!
0:46 TRC ftw
