      Little Rock get's about 4 inches of snow a year. Most these people don't realize their "All Season" tires are useless below freezing temps and especially in ice. A FWD car with snow tires will get going faster than a 4X4 with "All Seasons" and will more importantly keep you from loosing traction. Can't really blame them for not knowing how to keep control in the snow and ice. But, you can blame them for leaving their house in the first place when they know they can't keep control of their car in the snow and ice.

    A little hint: when your wheels are locked you have no steering at all.
    Then, if you stop, you don't leave your vehicle where others can slide down and hit it. Especially when you're at the _bottom_ of the hill.

  • @silentepsilon888
    @silentepsilon888 5 років тому +13

    too many drivers don't realize that locking up the wheels and standing on the brake will not make it stop faster, but only cause it to slide out of control. Realizing that getting off the brake to let the wheels roll and temporarily gain traction again to steer, then carefully tapping or pumping the brakes is a concept that is lost on most drivers.

Before that...I would say 2004, maybe. Before that it was 1997. So, we do get freezing weather at times, but usually there no precipitation associated with it, so there's never any ice on the roads. So, we don't get icy situations often enough to hone in our driving skills.
