Hello Mary Rose. I don’t know if you will get notice of a comment on here since this is three years old, but I’ve been watching some of your videos since I found you! You are a lovely person! Thank you for your testimony of your faith. You are so refreshing in todays political environment. I also thank you for your informational videos. Though I’ve stitched for a long time, I’ve certainly learned from you.
And now on to your beautiful Scout picture! Sooo amazing. I fell in love with it! I showed it to my husband and since we are both residents of the state where Charlie Russell lived and we have seen many of his paintings, I purchased the pattern and the fabric and I’m now collecting the threads. Oh my, but all the colors and blends. Thank you very much for sharing your beauty and skill!
Life does have so many blessings for us.

🦋 Thankyou so much for sharing, lisa. The stitching of Scout was a joy for me from start to finish. I always had trouble putting him down and could hardly wait to get back to stitching on him again! I stand and gaze at him sometimes ~ he’s a special kind of magic. Charles Russell strikes me as a man of much understanding, empathy and compassion for a group of people who in his day received very little. I’m thinking that your husband and yourself will very much enjoy that noble and quiet presence gracing your wall in the future. Be Blessed, both of you. xx:):)🌹

Mary Rose your dimensions finish is so pretty and I also like it without the snow. I am starting my first one which is Scenic Farm so your advice was truly helpful. They are calling for 3 threads some times but I am just going to use 2 throughout with half stitches for the backgeound....thanks so much for the hints.

Hi Mary Rose! I came across your video tonight. I have my 1st Dimensions Gold chart I am working on, but when I started I really did not like the way the floss was hanging. I thought I I was going to continue working on it, I would need to come up with a different was to keep the floss. So, I took the time to bobbinate them all (42 colours). It was so worth the time spent doing that. I keep similar colours on rings
and just grab a ring with the colour I need. This also made things easier and faster.
So, I see that you had a similar idea as you also did not like the way they come. 👏🏻👍🏻🧑🏻‍🦰🇨🇦🍁 cheers!

I'm old. I purchased a cross stitch pattern over 20 years ago because my niece loved it and asked me to make it for her. I've had that project for over 20 years old because I was lost where I was at. Then I discovered gridding. I returned to the project and was able to continue. I just need the back stitching to complete the project. I grid every project now. Your projects are beautiful.

😁🦋 Thanks Cindy! It is amazing how complex petites can be for even the most experienced stitcher. Many find gridding to be tedious, but at least in the case of petites the fabric size is small, so gridding is pretty quick and saves a whole lot of frogging angst later. lol Wishing you a joyous Christmas and a great New Year to follow. xx:):)🌹

Hi Mary Rose. Lovely to see you again. I hope 2020 is treating you well so far. I can’t believe you have finished “Quiet Night” already! It looks beautiful. I like your idea of leaving the snow off it and you were very kind to save the fox from potential frost-bite! I like your idea about bobbinating the leftover threads. After I saw Luda’s video where she suggested saving them I also decided I would bobbinate any leftovers I have when I finally get round to stitching some of them! Your Thomas Kinkade piece is beautiful and it is one I would love to stitch one day. I love his pictures and I have two HAED patterns of his. I love your idea of the changes you would make to the second one. The weeks certainly do fly by. I can’t believe we are almost at the end of January already!! I love the changes you have made to “Oriental Splendour”. “Rocky Point” looks fantastic and you are so close to finishing it. I stitched a Gold Petit for a friend very similar to “Lost No More”. I enjoyed listening to you talk about your faith. Many people (including me!) are often afraid to speak of their faith these days.
I look forward to seeing more of your “carrying on” soon!
    Much love
    Kerry 💜

🦋😘💕 Hello 🌸, I hope things are going well for you in this fresh new year. My words about my faith just seemed to come out and were just as much of a surprise to me as they may have been to anyone else. God uses the foolish to confound the wise I guess! I am not surprised at your reluctance to speak about such things, indeed I have been the same way in the past at least. I suppose the lovely piece Lost No More loosened my tongue a little. ‘His will be done’ as they say. I have been surprised at the positive responses I have received, which I did not expect to be frank. I am not generally a fan of being preached at myself about a stitcher’s religion, politics or anything else; when I come to a channel for the stitching. Nevertheless my thoughts do tend to slip out from time to time, which is why I edit some of it out. People don’t want to hear me banging on about my views! lol. I will have to do a progress video soon on Lost No More, or it will be finished. I cannot put it down. Lots of love sent until next time my dear Kerry xx:):)🌹

I love Lost No More, and I believe (recently) I started watching you with your FO of it- just beautiful! I completely agree with your thoughts on faith, once you have it- and it IS a gift I think- you always have it. It's a wonderful thing, and it leads to so many other wonderous things. On to more of your episodes- you are a joy to watch and listen to regarding your thoughts and cross stitching 'wisdom'! :)

Great video as always, love the Dimensions kits you have worked on / completed. I really must give couching a go ( need to watch the video where you showed it again ) as I have been back stitching for many many evenings trying to finish my Spring Sampler. Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year and I look forward to seeing your videos in 2020 😊

🦋😁 Many thanks Lisa, I don’t think I have heard you complain about doing back stitching. I think I was more referring to those who carp on endlessly about having to do it. It can be very frustrating! lol. I can’t remember which video I did to show my gridding. I didn’t put it in the title which was a bit silly. Never mind. You have had such a good year with your beautiful stitching Lisa, I hope you have a wonderful time with your friends and family at Christmas time, with a great 2020 to follow xx:):)🌹

No I don’t think I have moaned too much about back stitching but do know from now on I will do it as I go and not leave to the end of the project and I would like to try couching as one it looks quicker and also makes the outlines less boxy looking. I think I may try a Dimensions kit just using regular 2 strands for the cross stitch and 1 for back stitching as most projects are as I abandoned one of my Dimensions kits as it required 6 strands and it left me with sore fingers every time I worked on it and my love for the design waned rapidly to the point I knew I would not return to it.

🦋 I might have a go at showing my gridding again on my next video as well as my couching, just for fun lol. I think the Dimensions are fine using the 2 threads, unless you want to really emphasise a particular area by using 3 threads max, either as a half or full cross and I think you are experienced enough as a master stitcher to make your own decisions about that! xx:):(🌹

I would like to thank you for sharing that you don't always use amount of threads called for it never crossed my mind to not use five strands of thread and save my wrist and fingers the pain it caused. Went with four strands and it saved my hands and it still looks great. Thanks so much for videos. Keep up good work

Hi cousin somehow I missed your video a month ago. I’ve had the flu for the past couple of weeks - not fun but I think I’m starting to feel better finally. I really enjoyed your clip about dimensions gold petites very interesting. I’m not sure how I feel about them I’ve done a couple. Editing the chart down is probably a really good idea. I’ve been doing a little bit of stitching and a whole lot of coughing, so it’s been an interesting start to 2020. The fires in Australia are very sad and I don’t know what’s happening with indigenous people, I see a lot about animals and the bush but it’s all very sad. Take care dear cousin know that you and your countrymen are in my thoughts and prayers and until the next video, which I see I’ve missed another one, happy stitching. ❤️ 🌹 🧵

🦋💕Hello to you my precious cousin. It’s awful to think of you battling through the flu, and coughs are so frustrating when they hang on. I know I had the dreaded lurgy about 5 years ago (we both did). It was a bad one that year. The first settlers to this country were baffled by the local Aborigines setting fire to the bush with their fire sticks as they went along. This ensured that the fuel load on the forest floor was always low, and that would make any bushfire less severe. They knew what they were doing. I am sending you healing thoughts xx:):)🌹

Your creche is lovely. I used to collect them, but they haven't been out of the box for years - not enough space.
Your Dimensions piece is just beautiful, Mary Rose. I like it without the snow and all the branches as well. Perhaps the little fox will go curl up at the side of the house and soak in some of that beautiful warmth.
I love stitching french knots, although I don't do them often enough to keep the knot sizes quite as consistent as I want.
Your Garden Gate piece has to be one of my favorite of your projects, Mary Rose. The depth that those french knots create is stunning.
That green vase on the right side of the Oriental Splendor piece is stunning. I'd have to stitch that with the little flower basket separately just to have that delicate green. Is that a satin stitch you did in the flower petals or a long and short stitch?
Kimono Pagoda View is stunning. That soft purple caught my eye immediately.
I may have to find that advent calendar for my Erik for next year's Christmas. I enjoy hearing about Harlequin. :)

As you use an embroidery hoop for stitching, how do you prevent hoop marks or flattening previously stitched areas. Since a lot of your projects are large, how do you fold fabric that is not being stitched on at the time. Thanks.

    • @stitchblisscorner
      @stitchblisscorner  4 роки тому +1

😁 Hi Shirley. Thankyou for your company. My threads do flatten where the hoop has been, but they don’t seem to stay that way....at least I can’t see any evidence of it when the piece is framed. I usually wash my stitching to set the stitches, so that may well be a factor. If there are any hoop marks they usually disappear when the piece is ironed. If it is bothering me, I usually roll the extra fabric and clip each end of the roll with something. If I remember I will show what I do on my next video. xx:):)🌹

I know this is an older video and I hope you will be able to see this question: What about using smyrna stitches in place of french knots? What are your thoughts on this?

    • @stitchblisscorner
      @stitchblisscorner  Рік тому

🦋 I think that if I were stitching masses of flowers in a garden for example, I would use French knots, because it would produce a more natural effect. But if I were to be stitching an area where I wanted a kind of density to it, like the foliage of a tree, I might stitch some areas with Smyrna stitches and some areas of cross stitches to give an added texture. Samplers are a bit more stylised and so Smyrnas go pretty well on the flowers in those I would say and give that neat and clean look that stitchers seem to prefer when stitching samplers. I hope this helps! xx:):)🌹

😁 Hi Beverley, I did show how I grid on one of my previous videos, but I didn’t put it in the title and I don’t know which one it was! (Doh!). However I will show it again on my next video, as well as how I couch. In the meantime there are some videos that show gridding by various stitchers if you google it. Each stitcher works out their own method of gridding that suits them. If you watch some videos and decide to try it, just use a small piece of aida at first to count and mark on. Aida is excellent to grid on by the way; so why not give it a go. I hope this helps and thankyou for your company. xx:):)🌹

I have a very deep faith and I believe that the theory of evolution Glorifies God. I see God's hand in everything, guiding that rose petal gently through the millennia to become what it is today and what will be tomorrow. I do not believe God is an old man with a long beard passing judgment. I believe God is something more that cannot be described. I do believe in the power of prayer and every stitch I make is a prayer. I give many of my completed projects away, If I have decided that a project is going to a certain person, my prayers are for that person. More often than not I donate my FO's to my local parish for them to raffle off during the annual fund raising craft fair.

I wish you continuing joy of your stitching xx:):)🌹
