    The fabric Harlequin chose is absolutely perfect for the cat pilot! It's stunning. The charting is purrfect. Congratulations Mary Rose on your finish,bit can't have been easy so many confetti stitches! I always find your videos so interesting. Men are physically strong but not always mentally strong. Sadly I tried to be physically as strong and now I can't work because my back is in a bad way☹️. My son most certainly didn't look for a woman like me, they are now divorcing! She is definitely a career girl. I don't think the modern man could change a plug lol. My father was a great builder and I would've loved to follow in his footsteps but in the late '70's it was not heard of. Dimensions are far to hard for me, too many changes of thread. My go to count is 25ct 1x1. 14ct seems enormous to me now! I love scissors, I have 10's of them lol. Harlequin chose well🙂. Enjoy your time with your son. Take care🤗🇬🇧

    I was delighted to see a video from you as always. I so love your work. Absolutely fantastic. The cat is perfect. Isn't Harlequin a Wonder husband! My father was a pilot during WW2. The cat reminds me of my Dad. He flew 32 missions over German occupied Europe when he was just 21 years old. I agree with you about what you commented on. I grew up in the 60's and 70's. I wanted a traditional marriage and be a homemaker but none of the young men I met back then wanted to be the soul breadwinner. So the girls I knew had to work full time so their children could have any financial security. The kids hardly knew their parents as both were working full time jobs. It's almost a requirement now for Mom and Dad to both have full time jobs. I for one wish it could be like it used to be... when I could have been a homemaker...like in the 1940's. I would have been able to sew and do cross stitch and a thousand things I couldn't find time to do while I was working. I can't change the world. But I do think it is best for the woman if she can afford to stay home with her kids...and the husband benefits too. Just my opinion. A lot of people disagree.

    Thank you for the video. I love your finish and the almost finish. I truly was one of those women who would have loved to stay home and raise my children, but my husband needed more money and help. I didn't know at the time that I had tumors, so I ended my work with 2 medical retirements. My husband, at times, has asked if I was all into the marriage a d that is a silly question when they have had to force retirement on me because I was dying. Douglas is stunning. I loved learning the history on him, what a warrior in all aspects. I 100% agree with you about the roles of women and men. It’s sad now how things are viewed and how it’s affecting our world. I love serving my husband and children and the way they serve me as well. It’s mutual respect and love, it goes both ways. No one is inferior. We are definitely more “old school” and have so much more peace in our household at least from the outside looking in compared to others who live the opposite. Hi Mary Rose! So enjoyed your video! Douglas is awesome! All of your work is beautiful. I just have one question. You must stitch very fast. • @stitchblisscorner
      @stitchblisscorner  Місяць тому

      🦋Thankyou for your company! I don’t think I stitch particularly fast, I think it has more to do with the hours that I stitch, because that is what I enjoy doing the most! Having said that, I think the other main reason I why make steady progress is gridding. Gridding cuts out a lot of counting and also avoids having to frog sometimes large areas of stitching because it is easy to pick up mistakes a lot earlier. If you were to see me stitching it would be one whole cross at a time, I never do rows of half stitch and back to complete the crosses. I wish you Happy Stitching and thankyou for the question! xx:):)🌹

      @claudianay Місяць тому

      @@stitchblisscorner Do you think completeing a stitch rather than stitching half , then returning with the other cross makes a better, neater stitch? Have you have done railroading?

    • @stitchblisscorner
      @stitchblisscorner  Місяць тому

      🦋 I honestly cannot say about the half a stitch and then return to complete the cross being neater or not, because I have always stitched complete crosses as it was just natural to me to do it that way. I do railroad occasionally if it looks like the threads are obviously twisting, but otherwise I don’t. I think some stitchers stress so much about the neatness of their stitches that they lose the relaxing enjoyment part of the whole process. Stitching is an organic thing ~ sometimes the stitches can be almost too neat in my view which almost enters the realm of diamond painting. I like my stitches to look like stitches ~ not like a row of perfect dentures! But that’s me, it’s a very individual thing really. xx:):)🌹

    Douglas is a good name for your cat pilot picture. Did you do it on 18 count? With two threads? Is the whole picture done in full crosses? I'd like to do the cat pilot too, it reminds me of my Dad who was a pilot in world war II as I mentioned in another message I added to your comments. My dad was a man's man, but he was always polite to the ladies in his life. He always held the car door
    for my mother and never expected her to work outside the home. I wonder if he was alive today what he would think of the cat pilot picture. He lived to be 99 years old. I was proud of how he served his country. The world sure has changed. I kind of wish it was more like it used to be.

      🦋 Hi donna, As you probably know, Winston Churchill once said of the WWII pilots: “Never in the field of human conflict was so much owed by so many to so few.” How right he was to honour them in such a way. The courage of men such as your father brings a tear to my eye I have to say. Douglas was stitched on 18 count Aida two over one and he is full coverage on the stitched background on the chart, which looks great, but hubby wanted the clouds and I think the fabric he chose worked very well. If you do decide to stitch on him I am sure you will really enjoy it, because he looks even better in real life than on UA-cam! Blessings sent. xx:):)🌹

    Yay! Another Mary Rose chapter! The stitching you showcase is always stellar and i enjoy seeing your projects so much!
    And i agree wholeheartedly with your assessment of how feminism has gone too far. My mother was born in 1945, a classic boomer, and had me when she was bery young in the 60s. And i recall her saying way back in the 70s when "women's lib" was big, that this was going to ruin everything. And she was correct and i give her credit for having the foresight to see all this coming. I find so many young women today have such a cartoonish view of women from decades past. Yes, you are correct that women in the 1800s and early 1900s were happy that the men were willing to go down in coal mines and shimmy up ironworks ti build bridges and skyscrapers. They weren't sitting at home tied to the floor feeling like they wanted to go there too, lol! Quite the opposite, actually. They had enough gratitude to have a hot meal on the table when he came home (IF he came home!) And isn't it funny even today, women always want those nice clean high-level office jobs - I don't see many women clamoring to be garbage collectors, highway construction workers or plumbers or certainly not linemen, who have to get out in the bad weather and get the electricity back on. I for one, am grateful for the men who do the dirty work outside in rain or shine who weld, lay pavement, keep the AC units running and pump out our septic tanks. The least i can do is love and support my husband, sons, brothers and help make them happy and strong by being a homemaker. I take pride in it, and the love, protection and resources i get in return are more than worth it!!

We were happy to be able to provide work for them so that they could support their families. I wish you continuing joy of your family and of your stitching. xx:):)🌹

    Women and men should have equal opportunities… maybe men where the inventors because they were the only ones given an eduction and an opportunity to invent. I am pretty sure going forward a lot more women will be the inventors and scientists.

      @@stitchblisscorner not just me all women going forward are now having the opportunity to invent and be scientists, unlike in the past.

      🦋 But there were women scientists in the past. Marie Curie was a scientist who won the Nobel Prize in Chemistry in 1911 for her discovery of the elements Radium and Polonium.

    ...Harlequin was so thoughtful getting you all the scissors! Combat CAT! He just makes you smile, doesn't he? So great! He has different colored eyes? Maybe just the reflections in his shot. I think I will try to find that movie about Douglas. That Pilot CAT! he is just the cutest. I can't get over him. He is in my brain and I am glad! Oh...yes, you have to AQUIT! Sounds like some real thugs moving through the neighborhood. They probably all have RIC-RAC ears. MARY ROSE! I was wondering what your rant would be...I agree with you. See you when you get back here! Enjoyed my Friday evening ...Thanks to you two!✂ 🛩 😸

    Your stitches are beautiful as are your projects. I too, agree w/you regarding the roles of the two sexes. And I also participated in the second feminist wave - equal pay for equal work. It wasn't necessary to vilify men for who and what they are. Very necessary indeed!! Thank you for that 'rant' and for sharing those beautiful projects.♥
