Never heard any song like this so heavy , Sludgy , Doom ... Heavier than heavy metal ... Chris' vocal in lower register gives chills !! Great lesson _/\_
Kim: I tuned down for this one. Chris: Not low enough. Kim: Ok, how's this. Chris: Still not low enough Kim: I'm so low right now my strings are sagging. I don't even think I can play them. Chris: When the tendrils of infinite pain from hell itself consume you and you feel your sanity peeling away, tune up 1/2 step. That should be good.
I appreciate that very much Cesar :) yeah, remember when the only choices we had was the one or two tabs that month!? Not tooting my own horn but just reinforcing the point, I even find stuff that the official PJ tab book missed or got flat wrong here and there (not that I don't get stuff wrong too sometimes, I definitely do)
@@RyanLendt yeah! there were only a couple of tabs per month! then there were the tab songbooks (from cherry lane I think, I still have a few from back then)
You helped me out alot with these SG songs man! Thanks alot! Their weird tunings make it hard to study their songs by ear! Very much appreciated! Greets from the Netherlands
funny thing on this one, I turned the amp on and it sounded great, so I didn't touch anything... but guitar choice was key - these pickups are great for heavier songs, I don't think you would have left such a comment had I used any of my other guitars :) Anyhow, you've inspired me to make a video just about this topic, should be a fun one thanks Sergio!
I just got a Virtual Jeff Pro, so obviously the second thing I need to do is figure out how to play this song (first thing is Summer Nights). Thanks for breaking this down Ryan!
happy birthday Brandon! It's also my golf buddy Eric's birthday, and we drove past a house with a sign that said "happy birthday james" today, so now you know :P
haha what's up Race :) that would be my schecter PT, I replaced the neck with a USA tele neck (to make the color match Ed's 80's schecter) and the pickups with Gibson Burstbuckers (or something similar, i don't recall, i got them off ebay many years ago)
I didn't own any pedals yet for that one... so i would have turned my amp gain all the way up and used that black schecter - which has the hottest pickups in my arsenal, gibson burstbuckers
i believe chris plays this just with mesa dual rectifier distortion. i know kim has some other stuff going on...probably an octave fuzz for the solos, live.
Hey Ryan, loved the video. Thank you for all your help. I do have a request. If you could try out limowreck by soundgarden, I would be forever grateful.
I have a ritual. Although I'm actually Russian and I don't celebrate 4th if July , I listen to Superunknown the whole day and then I watch Independence Day.
8/8/19. I subscribed to you on the previous video about 1/2 hour ago, and I noticed the subsciber count for the last 15 minutes or so is stuck on this video at 16, 969. So maybe I'm subscriber 16,969. I like the last 3 numbers, 969, because that reminds me of 1969, the year the Mets and Jets, my two favorite teams, both won championships. Also in 1969, 50 years ago, was Woodstock performed from August 15-18, 1969. Sadly, I don't think there will be a 50 year reunion. They were planning on bringing back any living musicians from that 1969 Woodstock concert to perform at Woodstock 2019, like Country Joe and Santana, but they're having legal problems that will probably cancel it. Mr. Spaghetti claims he was there swimming naked in that Woodstock pond with the naked Woodstock chicks. Here is a music video idea for you: Get those original naked-swimming Woodstock chicks to once again swim naked in a pond where you're in the pond, water waist high, with an acoustic guitar strapped around your shirtless upper body. You're in the pond singing to the naked-swimming Woodstock chicks who are swimming with a naked Mr. Spaghetti. This could be your tribute to Woodstock on the 50th anniversary of Woodstock. What do you think?

I absolutely love this song. Cornell’s double tracked voice, that filthy riff. 🙃🙃🙃
it's absolutely disgusting. the good kind. like my knuckleballs
Ryan Lendt I’m almost positive I can hit your knuckleball
Absolutely haunting.
That riff is so sludgey I love it

love this song. played it live in 2010 using a super fuzz

You're a great teacher Ryan!
thanks Ryan!
Awesome song! Ryan, you always seem to nail the guitar tone! Would love to see your approach to setting your tone!

This is probably One of the most scientific songs ever made! What the hell was Chris thinking? Thanks for this video Ryan 🤩
I will jump on this boat with you Francisco :)
In his words, he was on acid somewhere during the fourth of July

Ah man, makes me wish I had an electric guitar.
yeehaw! what are you waiting for Kow!?
@@RyanLendt let me check my saving ... what can I get for $5 :D
You are really good! I think nailed it pretty close on the tone, what was your gear? I think Cornell mixed a marshal jmp with a mesa boogie
that's quite a setup! I only own a blues jr, the pickups in that black guitar are really hot
Great video. Thank you! Do you know which pickups are in that guitar? It sounds fantastic.

Thanks for doing this one! I see SOUNDGARDEN and immediately know There is atleast a 90% chance the tuning is going to get weird! 🤘
it's always a huge surprise when a soundgarden song is in standard tuning! haha you're welcome Clint :)

happy 5th of july!!!
I thought only the top two / 3 strings (low E to C) were detuned with rest (guitar solo) strings being in standard ?

happy painted shield day too!!
Resurrecting this to ask if you ever figured out an acoustic version? Thanks!

@@RyanLendt C'mon "One Note" from Mansfield!!
YES!
Can you type the notes in the description
what's the exact tunning?
whatever it is I would have said it at the beginning... I think...?
Can you do Born In The U.S.A. and other Bruce Springsteen songs
i've had that song stuck in my head since I saw your comment :)
Isn't the tuning c f c g b e? I think that's the way I learnt it anyway. I always thought it was a very odd tuning.

Probably difficult to pronounce. Needs a vowel.
You shouted out a guy named aryan white? Lol maybe he reformed, hopefully. Is he okay with Kim being Indian? Just weird...
the irony is Mr. White is Indian - true story
you made such an easy song as difficult and disorganized as possible.
sounds about right
Did he say Arian White? Lol
Stop saying “anyways”… it’s not a word. The real word is “anyway,” which already implies multiple ways without having to pluralize the word.
He can say what he wants lol
