- Have you ever wondered what the reptile keepers at Melbourne Zoo get up to before the Reptile House opens in the morning? Or what a Basilisk really looks like?
Join Boyd for a behind the scenes look at what it takes to look after all the reptiles, and meet some of his favourite scaly residents.

LOL Bones , he can grow up to 18 feet, but because he's a snake, he won't grow any 😂
it took me a few seconds but I got there! 😂
Love the old Reptile house but I reckon it's due for a proper upgrade/rebuild . It's over 50 yrs old! Some of the display enclosures, which were cutting edge in the 70's , seem too cramped for the larger species. Especially active ones. Hopefully the Zoo will get some funding in the next few years to make a reptile house worthy of the 21st century. Seeing all the incredible work they've done for endangered species, it really be deserved.
The "They can grow up to 18ft, but because he's a snake he won't grow any" was super underrated hahaha
That was great, thank you Boyd. Oh and love a good dad joke!😊
This is soo cool! Great video Bones!
We love bonesy!!!!!
Thank you for uploading this! I wanted to make sure there were frill neck lizards before I booked tickets. I’m doing a project on them. 🥰😍
The reptile house is my fave exhibit at Melbourne Zoo. But then, I love reptiles…

Really nice to see the work that goes on in the background
